History
The humans of planet Earth had long lived in harmony with mother nature. However, in the past hundred years, things had been different. The humans no longer respected animals, and many of the species were restless. A group of wolves searched the land masses for some way to get away from the human menace. The year 1960 was upon them...

They found their solution near the coast of Africa. Over hundreds of years, somehow unseen by humans, continuous volcanic activity formed a new land mass. This area had become a utopia over the years, and the animals realized that this might just be their chance to get away. They swam from the coast, drawing further and further away until they could no longer see the mainland. They finally reached the sandy beaches of a new continent. This area, for now unknown by humans, was exactly what they had been searching for. The animals quickly settled into their new home. The animals lived in harmony for over forty years.

In 2000, the humans finally surveyed the land mass. Somehow, their scientists had overlooked this land, and their ship routes had mysteriously passed it by. A horde of humans flooded the continent, sticking their noses in where the wolves believed they didn't belong. Mankind attacked them, slaughtering all the wolves in sight and burning large areas of the island. Finally, accepting that this place was not fit for human life after their tyrade, the scientists left, deeming the land uninhabitable.

Wolves that had hidden from the human's flames and the merciless weapons slowly began to emerge from their hiding places. Over the next eight years, the plant life gradually grew back. Now, the wolves needed to figure out a way to survive with many of their resources exhausted...

 High Hopes
« Thread Started on Nov 3, 2009, 10:56pm »

A journey to no end, as the large brute weaved his way through naturally carved trails in searches of nothing specific. Perhaps a home, perhaps the Riadrak. So far Charrus hasn't met an unusual wolf, other than some of the Cyales. But he made his way to the other side of the land, destination unknown. The air in the area was salty and crisp. It reminded Charrus of the beach where he had met the wolves of Anikira. 'I'm sick of the ocean.' He grumbled internally as he charged forward until his path came to an end.

Slitted green orbs scouted the land, which was no land. A body of water as far as the eye could see. A sunken heart as his journey could no longer go forward. 'Could head a different way... But what is the use.' "Terren, my only wish is for my sister to be on Anikira with me. I'm tired of being alone..." Charrus shouted to the skies, and out to sea. Nobody would hear him, as far as he knew he was alone.

Holding his head high, the wind blowing fervently and fast. His fur trembled with each gust, Charrus felt on top of the world. "Mom, dad... Terren. You would love it here. It is so beautiful." Closing his eyes as he felt the wind hit his face, all he could see was the faces of his family. 'I could go back, but I wont. My place is here.' Opening his eyes again, looking down and over the cliff he stood. The thoughts of falling off sent shivers down his spine, and he reluctantly stepped back a few feet. "I will remember this place. Perhaps come back soon." After saying that, Charrus turned his back on the sea, and began heading in another direction.

The earth he stood on began to crumble, and not realizing it Charrus looked down to his feet. A frown creased his face, no... Charrus was not suicidal. This is what it felt like to fly perhaps? It wasn't his time to go though, he would join with his ancestors, but not today. Struggling to avoid falling, Charrus weaved through the shattering earth, his claws clinging to the edge while his hinds dug upward in attempts to lift himself back up onto the sturdy cliffs. 'If luck was on my side, this fall wouldn't kill me...' Charrus thought in a calm, cool collected manner. The more he struggled the more the cliff would break. But he couldn't just do nothing. Closing his eyes, he hoped fate would reach out to him, save his life. He needed an angel.

Crim gave a throaty grunt. The bloody deer had been stalking him for some time now. It seemed that neither words nor actions could scare the fearless little fawn away. Crim was getting to the end of his rope; however, he would never admit the company was welcomed. Ly and Tyrn seemed to have deserted him. That Charrus brute was no where to be seen. Crim was practically alone, in a strange and new territory all by himself with only a little fawn for entertainment. Hunting was touch and go. Zyther could scarcely stand to know when and what Crim was hunting. The deer knew Crim would not survive if he did not hunt, but every time Crim went out alone, Zyther wrestled with images of packs of wolves running his mother down and killing her mercilessly. The thoughts sickened Zyther to the point of extreme discomfort when Crim left. His reasoning stood that so long as Crim was by his side, no wolves were out to play. Folly? Most defiantly.

Sighing, the blackened wolf stood atop a grassy hill that was slowly turning into rock. The salty air of the vast ocean could be scented even from his distance. “You see this, Zyther?” Crim asked in a soft tone. In all honesty, the deer had grown on him. It would just be nice for a change of companionship if only for a day. Zyther trod up beside Crim and sniffed at the air as well.

“Yes. What is that smell? It’s… different.” The deer ventured and tasted the air.

Crim smiled slightly. “That is the ocean. It’s a large body of water. So late that it is impossible to see where it ends. The water is not fresh like you might find in lakes and puddles. It is salty. I wouldn’t suggest drinking it.” Zyther looked off into the distance squinting at the faint line of blue.

“Can we go closer? I want to see this ocean.” He said and took a hesitant step forward, waiting for approval. Crim nodded and started off on a new journey. With no where to go, what qualms did he have with visiting the ocean? Several hours later, by the sun’s light, Crim and Zyther arrived. Ahead lay the ocean starting abruptly where cliff ended only to meet air. Crim was sure to caution Zyther of the dangers of adventuring too closely to the edge. It would be a shame for the little deer to make it this far only to die in a complete accident.

Suddenly, Zyther stopped with tail erect and ears alert. His brown optics were wide allowing more to be seen. “Wolf. I smell a wolf.” There was a hint of fear in his voice. Could he lay victim to this wolf’s hunger? No. Crim would never allow it. Narrowing his eyes, Crim padded ahead with Zyther in tow. Scenting the air proved this wolf to be Charrus, the lone brute they had met some time before. Needing a change of conversation, the brute continued forward easing the deer’s worry with kind, soft words.

“Charrus!” Crim called out with a cheerful bark. It was a far more pleasant greeting than what the grey and red brute had received earlier. There was a cracking in the air, a sickening crumbling sound of rock grinding against rock as the force holding the earth together parted and released. “Charrus!” Crim called our a second time, his voice filled with panic and misery knowing all too well what was happening. Darting forward, the smaller brute grasped for the grey scruff of Charrus. Catching it, Crim braced himself, claws digging deep into the rocky earth.

Pulling viciously, the red and black card marked brute attempted to rescue this wolf whom he had little emotional ties with. Unable to talk Crim yanked hard his grip loosening. The wolf peered at Charrus’ body with wide golden eyes knowing this was not going to end well. Giving it a last ditched effort, Crim yanked only to completely loose hold of Charrus’ nape. Yes. This was not going to end well at all.

"I'm sorry..."
