Alina walked along the border of her new pack lands. She was overjoyed to have found a proper place to plant her roots. She had only been on the island for a short time, but she had found herself a home. A home that had good friends and made her feel safe. Nymph and Toiro had made her feel right at home almost immediately making her decision to join the pack that much easier. She sniffed around trying to memorize the exact scent that her new pack carried, that she would soon carry. Her coat was just thick enough to keep her warm from the chilly air. Spring would break soon and it would bring new life with it. Alina couldn't remember if she had ever experienced spring before, but the thought of it excited her. Her memories were still lost to her, a swarm of confusion and pain. Her episodes were growing less and less frequent, less and less painful. They didn't overtake her while she went about her day to day things, the crept in silently as she slept. Plaguing her sleep with nightmares and vicious thoughts. She couldn't remember her dreams when she awoke, but she had still gotten a small glimpse into her past. She growled in frustration thinking about how much she had been missing out on. This land was so splendid in the way it was laid out. There was so much prey here, even the small prey that she was more inclined to take down was beyond teeming. She could feel her excitement begin to mount at the idea of the baby rabbits sure to be born with the coming spring. They were an easy meal and if anything a delicacy that she couldn't resist. Even though they were the next generation of her food source she lacked the restraint to let them live.
Beginning to get sidetracked she sniffed the ground not for her pack scent, but for rabbits. It was a little early to find the little kits, but perhaps she would get lucky with this forage. Her tail swished behind her with excitement at the thought of finding her favorite snack. Her pace quickened but instead of finding any trace of rabbit she caught the scent of a stranger. Her pack mates had warned her about the possibility of strange wolves roaming around the border, but she couldn't bring herself to believe the tales spun. Surely not all loners are as bad as they say. I was a loner before I joined the Airila ranks, do they think so poorly of me? She couldn't imagine a person harming someone for no reason. She was not causing a threat so perhaps they would just leave her be. She was curious however. Perhaps it was no stranger at all but another pack member that she had yet to meet, that list altogether too long. She followed her nose trampling the short grass as she went drawing closer to the stranger. She had grown to love this territory over the last few days, roaming from border to border. She enjoyed her time with her new pack, but they all had jobs and responsibilities that she did not share. She didn't have much skill to put to use for the sake of the pack so she filled her time roaming, familiarizing herself with the landscape as best she could. Her closest acquaintance within the pack was a gather and although Nymph always made her feel welcome she hated to intrude on her time with her mate. Alina herself wanted a family and could not begrudge her friend for needing time to be alone, for it gave Alina time to explore. Social as she was Alina hadn't thought that she would enjoy tromping about on her own but she had been joyously mistaken. It gave her time to think, time to remember as difficult as it was.
She would be walking along when suddenly a new scent would find it's way into her nose. Something that she had never smelled before, something that was out of place in this natural setting. She could even find herself going over conversations in her head, things that she couldn't remember taking place, yet the words continued to float through her head. Soft words, rough words, words that she couldn't understand filled her brain to the brim and then miraculously disappeared. She blamed it all on her amnesia not knowing any other reason for such strange things to happen to her. She shook her head breaking from her downward spiral of thoughts. The more she thought about the episodes the more often they occurred. She would much rather avoid the topic instead of be put down by another searing image tearing it's way into her consciousness. She barked trying to banish the last of the dark thoughts. Her attention reverted back to her original course as she tried to find the unfamiliar scent once again. "It couldn't have disappeared so where is it?", she barked. Her nose to the ground she continued her search in vain completely unaware of her surroundings. All of her attention was devoted to her search for the newcomers scent.
