"Do you think the south would agree with me? As the north so splendidly agrees with you?" Thor grinned at the question. Of course she wouldn't know with her memory loss. After all he knew his fur protected him from the cold purely through experience and learning it from those who came before him. He imagined himself in the situation and the pure ridiculous nature of it made him chuckle low under his breath.
In the moments that followed Alina brought up the humans. His anger and rage welled out of him and startled his tiny companion. A part of his felt terrible for this. After all it had nothing to do with her that he had lost the entire life he had built and earned too the beasts called humans. It took a great amount of willpower and mental strength to reign in on his hatred that the mere mention of humans had raised in him. As he got in under control though he felt Alina withdraw a bit from him. It hurt him more than he expected to cause her to fear him in any way. As he looked to the side he realized she had begun to show submission to him.
Part of him was enthralled by the idea of her submitting to him and was enjoying the showing of her gorgeous coat along her slender neck. However he knew he was not her leader nor her mate so the showing, as enjoyable as it was, was wrong. Before he could say much more than his story she reacted with almost vehemence "Pups are supposed to be cherished! Not hunted down. What kind of evil creature would come after children?" Thor did not have much to say to that. He had no idea why the humans had intruded so far into their land as such an opportune time for an attack. Not even wolves of the rabid nature lacked that much honor as to strike when the young were coming.
As he apologized for the rage and hatred that had over taken his mind her reply came back quickly, "You have nothing to apologize for. You cannot change what has happened to you, but you have a right to the way you feel." However Thor shook his head at those words. “I may be justified in my... dislike for their species however that does not give me privilege to snap off and startle you like that. I still be your apology for how I reacted. I should have held myself under better control than that.” And there in was the actual root of his issue. He had let his emotions slide so easily out against an innocent in the matter. He had relaxed significantly around her however that was no permission to let himself become an emotional creature in her presence. She deserved more than that.
As they began to joke and lighten the mood a bit Thor smiled deeper and laughed harder all the more for passing the awkward situation. It was not long before his more melodramatic side reared its head and he was calling out in an outraged voice claiming his fearsome foe and his own fearsome size. As they bantered back and forth over their fearsome sizes and anger Alina became more and more active. She began to nudge and fight back against him in a playful sense. As he landed in front of her she playfully snapped at him and his grin became wide and feral. His massive canines glistening in his humor and showing every inch of the reason he was a fearsome warrior in his own right.
As she saw his intent to hunt she seemed to shiver. Whether it was in delight or fear Thor had no chance to observe. She shot away from him tearing snow up behind her. Yet another interesting view but he had little time to consider it before he let loose with his pent up power. His first leap took him several times the length of his body across the ground. Alina's small size gave her advantage in the trees and brush. However he had sometime over her that she would never be able to counter: experience.
She was not his first hunt, though it was first with the end intent being what it was, and she would doubtfully be his last. He was after all a warrior bred and born into this world to hunt and fight. Now it was time to put those lessons into practice once again. As she duck and dove barely brushing the tree's Thor grinned. His massive body churning through the snow and brush like a wild boar. Anything beyond the largest of the trees was nothing but an inconvenience to him and his massive size. As he tracked her by the sound and color of her fur he kept his body in motion attempting to angle so her motions kept her in front of him at all times. They passed an outcrop of rocks as she called back "Should I bleat like a doe? Make this hunt more realistic for you."
His laughter roared out of him at the idea of the tiny Alina bleating like a doe. “You assume a doe is all I have hunted. You also assume that I intend to eat you when I catch you.” The idea was interesting though the hunger he was thinking of was not of the stomach variety. None the less Thor charged on keeping her in his sight at all times. To lose track of her small form would make it difficult on him to keep up with her. As he moved he slowly began to change his pace. He slowed slightly shifting the pattern and way his paws contacted the snow. His movement suddenly became quieter and he paced his breathing to keep himself from being heard. He was still moving at a decent pace however much slower than before. Now however he was running in a silent fast paced trot.
"I am curious. What exactly do you plan on doing to me? Is the big bad wolf going to eat me up?" As Alina's voice rang out back at him as she moved once again to dodge from hiding spot to spot he felt a thrill race along his spine to his tail. What indeed would he do when he caught his flighty little friend. He had to think a moment before calling out carefully “Eating you up does not sound like a bad plan to me. However such a small morsel should be savored one thinks. I think we shall let ourselves wait and see what I chose to do when I catch you.” He came to a slow stop his breathing rapidly shifting to normal patterns.
He looked carefully across the area they found themselves in. The snow was churned from her run however he could see she had been dodging quite a bit using her voice to try and keep him from tracking her location. Thor closed his eyes and let his other senses sharpen as he stripped away his sense of sight. The sounds and smells increased slightly bringing him a mental image of what was actually going on. He heard her breathing, smelled her scent, and could almost feel her laying in wait for his next move.
He had to be careful with his next choice. He could move in and let her surprise him or he could use the coverage and his fur to his advantage and surprise her. Judging by her actions he wasn't sure how well she would take the sudden startle of a massive hunter surprising her. However his pride would never let him walk into a trap willingly. He opened his eyes once again and grinned in a massive toothy way. He then decided to pull a trick he had picked up long before he had ever met Odyn or Loke. A trick of his on devising.
Thor rested silently for several heavy moments making no noise. He knew she was near by and could almost trace her to her exact spot. Except he did not need to worry about it with his next steps. He craned back his head and took a massively deep breath. Then in a sudden rush he raised a howl of hunting. The note was powerful. The note held his strength, his pride, his past as an alpha and warrior, as well as his current station as a powerful warrior among other powerful warriors. The note held for an absurd amount of time as he pushed his lungs to their limits.
As he finished the note the real show began. He had been raised in a world of flat land surrounded and broken apart by mountain ranges. He had trained in forests, cliffs, plains of endless white, and more from the time he was very young. He had learned at a very young age the odd acoustic properties that these kinds of lands could have. As he finished the note he whipped his body into a tight turn and shot towards Alina. His powerful body plowing the snow away with ease as he ran towards her.
The interesting acoustic effect began the moment he launched himself forward. The echoes began. The echoes coming in at odd timings and from many many angles. This gave creatures who used hearing as a primary hunting sense, such as wolves, a hell of an issue because it became hard to distinguish sounds sources as well as direction. Also as he ran he did not stay silent he called out in a massive voice “Looks like we will find out much sooner than we thought my dear little Alina. I hope you are ready.” As he roared this out he locked eyes on her pelt and he darted towards her. His charge was by no means stealthy but he knew it would be incredibly distracting among all the bouncing sounds surrounding them.
He pushed his body hard and fast keeping himself low and his paws churning through the snow. His eyes wide open as his tongue hung from his mouth. His grin was one of many things. Part of it was pure thrill of the hunt. Some of it was the puppyish joy of just playing along side someone with the boundless energy he himself had. There was also the slightly lascivious look of a male hunting a female that we was more than slightly interested in. As he moved his massive body showed the years of training. His fur was now pressed against his body as he moved his massive body showing the cut and lines of muscles well developed from years of hunting and fighting. These were not the thoughts that crossed his mind though. His mind was sharp and aimed at the small slender creature he hunted and what the end of his hunt meant.
