It was a strange place that she had found herself in. Sand stretched as far as she could see. The night was crisp and the breeze that rolled in from the ocean's water was the freshest thing she had ever scented. Tendrils of fog was slowly starting to roll in from the direction of the water. Letting all those who were present on the beach that the night was growing cool compared to it's much warmer daytime. Arkrael had slept the entire day away having only arrived close to the beach just before dawn the previous morning. She had grown accustomed to traveling by moonlight, preferring the serenity she felt from the moon's caress.
Paws raced over the still warm sands as waves washed up to tease her toes every few seconds. The warm water felt wonderful and had she not set her mind on having a nice midnight run she probably would have dove into the water's depth and had a nice swim. It astounded her how warm it felt here regardless the fact it was still winter. Of course, she was not complaining what so ever especially when one had only themselves to try and keep warm. Impressed that she still had not found herself winded from the duration of her run, Arkrael slowed her pace as a wide grin spread across her jowls with her tail starting to sway happily behind her.
Her gentle emerald gems lifted to the glittering sky. A wistful breath escaped her and she slowly sunk down to sit upon her haunches, uncaring of the slow moving waves that brushed up against her before receding and reaching out for her once again. It was quiet. Just like her entire, but still short, life. She had turned a meager one years of age just a few months back. Three months after her mother had abandoned her. She could barely remember the sound of her mother's voice. It probably didn't help the she-wolf never really spoke unless she was yelling at Arkrael for doing something wrong in her eyes..
A roll of her eyes and Arkrael cast her mother far from her thoughts and set her focus on the full moon that was slowly getting to it's highest position within the night's sky. There would be a day when she would not be so surrounded by silence. Where things would be lively in her life. At least she hoped there would be. The loneliness in her heart and very soul was starting to become grave and she just couldn't stand it anymore. She wanted so much to find a place to call home. To find others like herself that she could call family. To be accepted.
Audit's slumped down and fell against her head as a heavy sigh escaped her. She was young, she knew. Surely there was enough time to find what she was in search of. Shrugging it off she dropped her gaze down to the calm waters and breathed in the night's salty air. It brought a smile to her muzzle once more. It was silent, outside of the waves washing over the sides. She may be alone, but at least she could still sing. It came with no hesitation as she tipped her nose right back into the air and a soft melodic song rose from her lungs. Her song soon cut short and she perked her ears forward, listening to the soft echo before it was completely gone and she could only hear the moving waves.
Her chest vibrated with a deep hum. Content that she had lifted herself up before that ever looming depression could manage to grasp it's claws into her again. With a nod to her own thoughts, Arkrael's legs lifted her up and slowly began to carry her across the sands once more. This time in only but a leisure stroll and a little more closer to the water. She only had to be patient. Things would turn out in her favor of things. She hoped.
