Changes have become too severe in Anikira, and the wolves have been temporarily relocated to the Anikiran Southern Isles. Things have grown dire and unlivable on the mainland; it was time for outside intervention. Please be sure to review the full update on the staff board for more information!
The current season is fall in the Southern Isles. Due to their proximity to the equator, the region is still warm. There is currently no breeding and no birthing amongst the wolves
The sun was high in the sky as slow, rhythmic, heavy plods echoed through the trees. An expression of worry and concern crossed Emerald's face as she felt the dull ache that had always seemed to linger in her stomach since the Kairos brute had taken her escalate into a sharp, nagging pain that snapped every so often. She had felt it before when she had given birth to Leaf's litter, but the snowy, pale fae could swear that it had been more subtle last time. But that probably made sense, since she had been claimed by an absolutely gargantuan of a wolf this time.
Her nostrils flared as she gave in and stopped pacing, collapsing into an awkward heap onto the leafy foliage. Twisting around to get into position, Emerald moved her paws towards a tree trunk so that she could dig her claws into something to help handle the pain that she was certain to endure.
"Let's get this done," she snarled to herself, angry for letting the male rape her. The only sound that was audible to her was the furious thumping of her heart, which seemed to be pumping even harder as the contractions worsened.
After mere moments of forced slow breathing, Emerald began to pant, pushing as the searing pain of birth signalled for her to start pushing. Here was the moment.
The trees and ground and sky all merged into one, her vision blurring as she began to heave, expelling the pups out of her previously petite frame. Emerald gathered all of her energy that she possessed and threw it into pushing, into ridding her body of the tiny - or not so tiny - life forms. But when she had been pushing as hard as she possibly could manage for what felt like days upon days, it felt as if something was wrong. She did not dare to look to see if the pup was half-out. But it seemed so big! Or perhaps she was pushing incorrectly. Sighing, she continued, as that was the only thing that she could do. After what seemed like an age had passed, the Arctic fae felt a rush of relief, a sudden release. It was then that she knew that the pup was out.
There was hardly any energy left to inspect the pup that she had just created, but she forced herself to clean it and nudge it towards her belly to nurse. However, when her eyes met the limp body lying on the jungle's bed of leaves, Emerald gasped. It was enormous! If one did not look closely enough, then they could easily mistake it for a small adult. Then she pulled herself back to reality and began to slide her rough pink tongue over the newborn to remove the gunk that came with birth. When it was clean and warm, the mother nudged the eldest of the litter towards her stomach to nurse, gently guiding the pup towards one of her swollen teats just in time for another contraction to rack her body.
But this time it was more subtle, the pup seeming to push its way out by itself. This one was most likely the smallest pup that she had given birth to. It was only a matter of minutes before the pale-furred pup found its way into the world, ready to snuggle up against its older and larger littermate. Quickly dragging the runt towards her mouth, Emerald repeated the cleaning process again, rubbing a pink slab of flesh along the pup's fur, cleansing it of blood. Taking care to not harm the tiny creature, the Valyn fury placed the pup beside its sibling that was already suckling strongly, its mouth locked around its source of milk.
The contractions rested, allowing Emerald to check their genders and perhaps name them. Yes, name them. She had to. The femme knew all too well what it was like to have parents who ignored you and did not give you what every other parent gave to their offspring. Nudging her firstborn, who looked a lot like its mother, Emerald discovered that its gender was male. A male. In Valyn. What would her packmates think? Would he be accepted? 'He will. I am going to make sure that his life will be no different to any other female's.' And that was a promise. An unspoken promise that his mother had sworn to him. And she would keep it, for as long as she was alive. The pup had not done anything wrong, so why ought he to be treated differently? "Hello Jasper. Welcome to Valyn."Jasper. The name was perfect. It had a pretty ring to it, and was not too masculine. Turning back to her other pup, she inspected its gender. Female. Perfect. A dainty little female. It almost reminded her of herself. Emerald was brought back to a buried memory from long ago...
I was a pup. In front of me is a dead wolf. A dead she-wolf. A dead mother. My dead mother. Her name is Mint, and she will be buried soon. Mint looks a lot like my pup.
"Welcome back, Mint." Tears clouded her eyes. Had her mother returned to her in the form of her pup? The thought was sweet but shortlived as a pain that was all too familiar to Emerald shook her body, making her clench her teeth. There were more.
The fae let out a frustrated growl as it became clear that this wolf was a lot bigger than her older sister. Thankfully, it did not seem as large as its brother as Emerald began to push and heave yet again. She was crying, full-on tears crying, from the impossible effort. The pups seemed to notice her sudden ragged breathing as they clung on tighter to their milk, which only worsened the pain. It took all of the pregnant she-wolf's energy to not give in to the inevitable fate of death. She would not die today. Finally, after pushing for ages, she felt the pup come out, lying in front of her. A weak smile crossed her face as she licked the pup clean before tenderly rolling the newborn over to reveal its sex. Female again. Content, she nudged it over to her siblings to suckle.
"And greetings to you too Silver. Jasper, Mint, and Silver. My darlings." Silver seemed to resemble her father more, but with slightly lighter fur. Suddenly, the branches above the family of four swayed to release sunlight onto them. In the brilliant light, Silver's fur seemed to shine, illuminating into silver. So she could be Silver.
Three pups, alive and well, all of them special and unique. Emerald could not ask for more.

In an effort to provide the least restrictve roleplaying environment available, Anikira and their staff are looking to move to the Proboards paid forums. This forum would allow unlimited writing freedom to members, as well as an ad-free environment and our ability to customize the forum and its ratings/content however we choose! In order to do so, we will require your help! There is a monthly cost associated with this service, and any and all donations toward this goal are appreciated. Please use the PayPal link below for all donations for Anikira maintenance and moving costs. We look forward to a roleplaying environment where the sky is the limit!
Please note the donation page is listed under Uru's name as it cannot be listed otherwise without a business account. All funds associated with this PayPal account will be used directly for the maintenance and costs of Anikira, and hopefully soon anikira.com as our roleplaying forum.
This untraditional coupling is one of the truly loving matches in Anikira. Although they are members of two different species, Calantha and Rikez have overcome the differences and rose above, finding love in the most pure of ways. And from this pairing, a litter born of two loving parents was conceived. These little boys and girls will have the great honor of being raised by two parents that support each other, while many of the offspring in Anikira have not had such a benefit. The pair are truly fitting of one another; both kind-hearted and generally good individuals.
