A grey, brown, black and tan figure ran across the hills of this beautiful paradise. He had walked here in search of a pack land to call home, and he was beginning to like this place. It was beautiful, breathtaking, and the temperature was perfect. The skies seemed gorgeous, the blue firmament stretching over him like a soft mantle, forever stained with white clouds and the unforgiving sun. The birds flew above him, and the hills seemed infinite, the lush green pastures reaching his stomach, dancing with the wind. A soft smile crossed his maw for a brief second, but his heart was aching. There was something missing here. A missing puzzle piece that made this place out of perfect equilibrium with his mind... Kuruk.
Thatatos had been trying to push Kuruk out of his mind, but every day that passed was proving to be a burden. Every minute, every second made his preoccupation increase in size, and the stress that came with it was slowly beginning to get crippling. The mornings were the worst--he remembered his brother and himself when they were pups, reviving each moment they went through inside of his mind over and over again. Even if sometimes he thought he disliked his brother to an extreme, he had never known how much he missed him. He had forgotten how much Kuruk really ment to him--if it weren't for him, Thanatos wouldn't be standing where he was, looking at the stunning scenery before him. He would be dead, or maybe lost with the rage and fury of the loss of his parents. He had no idea where he'd be, and for that, he would be eternally grateful.
So much was his gratefulness, in fact, that he had decided to form a pack. One formed in his honor, named Eden; it would be a paradise, a way to live in the Great Spirit's embrace. Ever since Kuruk had disappeared--he dared not to say he was dead yet--for some reason, he had started to believe in the Great Spirit and began to trust Him a little bit more. He always thought that this said Spirit was just a tale, or a folklore passed down from his family to them, but now it was the only thing he had clung to in these times of uncertainty. Of course, Nova and Kiara were his hope, but the Great Spirit gave him strength in a way that his family never did. For a moment, he felt stronger, even if his mind wanted to collapse inside of him, threatening to break into irreplaceable pieces.
Thanatos stood at the top of the tallest hill, and sat down, observing the wind play with the grass, lost in thought. A lone tear threatened to escape from his eyes, but the feeling was quickly brushed off. Thanatos observed the valley and his mind slowly reassured him that everything was going to be alright, and that this place would be perfect to call home. Observing a group of bison in the distance, he saw how perfect this place was for hunting. He felt content and happy with the place, but he made a silent prayer to the Great Spirit to guide him in this quest. He sat still with his eyes closed, breathing in the fresh air that he already loved.
