The sands of this desert were hot against her feet, burning the pads. She had never encountered weather like this in her whole life, never once feeling anything so unbearable. This climate was wholly disagreeable and made a small part of her regret ever coming south. Roka never would had ventured to this area if it hadn't been for Sabaoth, so powerful and so demanding. If she had met a lesser wolf that day than she never would have followed so obediently. That was it wasn't it. She was doing no more than obeying the demands of a male that she barely knew. Tragic aren't we. She grumbled wondering what it was about him that made her lose her head. No other had ever gotten her to react the way that he did. Sabaoth had broken through the anger and stoked a different kind of fire hidden deep within herself.
She shook her head trying to banish the scalding thoughts that Sabaoth seemed to awaken. She had made her way to this southern part of the continent just to see that damnable brute, only to be found lost. His scent had gotten lost somewhere in this region and she was about ready to give up and head back north. He had promised to hunt her down so that they would get the chance to see each other again and a part of her was exhilarated by the idea of him tracking her down. For now she was content to stay here and try her best to forget about him. This was a new place after all and she ought to be curious about what treasures there were to be found here. This place was unlike anything that she had ever seen in her whole life The life that seemed to bloom here so foreign to what she grew up with. Everything here seemed to focus on one thing, water. Whereas her tundra had a different focus entirely, keeping warm.
The plants here were short and thick storing water in their leaves and bodies. The animals all had short coats with large ears to keep them cool. Roka felt like an outsider staring in at this strange ecosystem. Her fur was long and plush with no help with staying cool. Her body had been in the cold so long it would take a lot for her to acclimate to this almost hostile environment. Even the animals here seemed to fight against one another to survive the heat, battling over the thing most precious to them. Thinking about it made her mouth seem even more dry than it had moments ago. The air here so dry that is parched her mouth with each draw of breath. Looking around these red sands she doubted that there was any water. "Southern desert. More like hell on earth." The longer she stayed here the more her anger seemed to ripen. Curse him for dragging me down here.
She could smell a pack close to these lands, hear the howls of the massive group during the night. She wondered about Sabaoth's business down here, wondered if it was this pack that had drawn him so far south. She wondered how far this pack's territory spanned, not wanting to intrude. That was the last thing that she needed, another pack that was after her. She had spent her whole life trying to avoid her birth pack, not wanting to lose her life over a formality. Wary as she was it didn't mean she wasn't curious about them. It would have to be a mighty alpha indeed to keep such a large group all together and under control. The pack scent was faint at this point only a few individual scents having crossed her path during her journey. There was one in particular that was more prominent than the other ones. "Someone close?" She hadn't anticipated meeting anyone other then Sabaoth on this quest, but if one thing was true it was that life always found a way of changing expectations.
