Thor walked carefully along side the rushing fury of the river. His feet seemed to move automatically as Thor's mind was elsewhere. He had run down through his packs newly gotten lands and continued to head south deeper into his pack lands after he had left Alina. Even after the many days and distance she was still present in his mind. Like an ensnaring scent that never quite left him. It was the most pleasant sensation though. It was an interesting and new world for him in so many ways.
He had traveled down into the southern lands mostly to explore and to meet more pack members if he was so lucky. On his way down he had seen many interesting sights including an ancient volcano. From the path he had walked he had seen what looked like the shape of a wolf standing alone on the edge of the great mountains mouth. It had struck a chord in his warrior side. That symbol of strength and purity of one wolf standing atop such a great challenge. He had considered going to meet the wolf who had dared challenged the mountain but chose instead to let the creature have his peace.
Here he found himself winding along the angry river watching the water froth and foam. Odd how life had taken his on such a convoluted path. It made the battered warrior pause as he moved along the rocks for just a brief moment. His past once again bringing the star of his to the north back to his mind. What must it be like to live with no idea of the paths one walked before. It was something that he could not conceive and yet Alina lived with it and still shone. How did she see him as strong when she was stronger than him by far.
As he walked past a particularly calm pool on the edge of the river Thor paused. Several slender silver bodies slowly shifted in the pool. It had been a while since he had last ate, more so since he had fish. He shifted his body slowly across towards the pool. His large white paws soundlessly shifting from foothold to foothold. As he brought himself to the edge of the pool he slowly slid his forepaws into the water. The ripples were small but the bodies of the silver fish none the less froze at the sudden change. From here he would need to be calm and patient. As he stood watching the fish carefully his breathing slowed. He unfocused his eyes and let the slender bodies blur slightly. He tracked them by the motions in vague gestures instead of the precision one used on another wolf.
Calmly he stood there the moments passing by with only the sound of the rivers endless torrent as a background. The shapes began once again to take up their mindless swirling in the water. Thor was a patient creature though and allowed them to slowly slip in a false sense of normalcy. As one of the shapes shifted across in front of him Thor struck. The massive white males head shot down his maw open bearing his massive teeth in a soundless roar. The water split from the force as his jaws slammed closed. With a massive surge backwards he yanked the large silver bodied fish onto the rocky shore. The fish fought gallantly for its life against the warrior. As he took a moment to fight the fish Thor suddenly strained his neck muscles and with a resound crack broke the fishes neck and skull in his teeth.
After the fish gave a few dyeing gasps and flops Thor finally released his fangs from the creature and sat for a moment panting heavily. The fish was larger than he had first thought. The silver body in the water had blended with the rocks below it and caused its form to be distorted from anything looking at it from above. Thor bowed his head to the great bodied fish “Well fought my silver foe. Well fought indeed.” With those words Thor leaned forward and began to tear the scales off carefully. One could hurt oneself just as easily trying to eat fish as trying to catch them. Once he cleared the fish partially he began to eat quickly. It was an amazingly clear taste and he found himself a bit homesick while he ate. He remembered catching similar fish where he had lived long before he stepped foot on this island. The taste was good though and rapidly filled the large white brute. He rested on his haunches enjoying the feeling of being full even in the overly warm environment he found himself in.
