Kade felt as if he was never going to leave this southern land, not with his sanity at least. He wanted so badly for them to be starting their new live in the east with the pack. Alas they were still here in this southern lands. Walking slowly through the grass he allowed his mind to wander to the simple things. He and River had been enjoying the time they got to spend together here. He had once wondered if they would ever bore of each others company, but that didn't seem to be the case. The longer they spent around each other the more he became attached to her. He had left her to sleep on this particular morning, choosing to walk on his own. He was still wrestling with his inner demons, trying to conquer the darkness he had inside of him. He kept so much of it inside when he was around River, but the reality was that he couldn't hold on to all of his madness. Despite River being so kind and so perfect to him he still had those dark thoughts about her. About what she could do to him. He had kept himself so snared in hatred and anger because he was unable to look past the abuse that he had suffered. Those females that he had spent so much time amongst had left him broken inside and now he knew no way to heal himself.
He could smell other loners in this land as they lived in the same manner that he and River did. Moving about from place to place, simply surviving off of the land. He heard their lonely howls tearing through the air each night as he and River settled in. He wondered what his life would have been like if he hadn't chosen to stay with River. How much different would his present have turned out if he had followed his instincts and left her. Thing about it made him want to growl in protest. River was his and he had no interest in leaving her now. She belonged to him and he would keep her for no other reason than that. A fresh scent wafted across his searching nose. Nothing more than curiosity pushed him forward to meet this new stranger. Him and River were good companions who had plans to travel to Keone together, but he was always intrigued by others. By what motivated them and what made them want to survive in this strange land. He lowered his nose to the ground and tried to track the scent as best he could. His long legs began to lope through the grass as he approached the stranger. When he finally got close enough to spot the stranger he paused.
Looking out to see who this person was he made no move to approach her, wanting to observe. He was already nervous enough around females so he didn't want to rush into a confrontation that he could not end. His fighting skills were about as dismal as his hinting skills so it made sense for him to be cautious. He did wonder what it would be like if he chose to learn to fight. A small part of him did so that he could better protect River. She was so small compared to him that he couldn't help but become protective. He also had no one to teach him how to fight and he was reluctant to spar with River. Hurting her would be the worst possibility in his mind. He made sure to keep quiet so as not to startle the new female, but he watch silently as she went about her way.
