It was early, well, early for the afternoon anyways. The morning had started out with so much promise. She had met Lex a while back, but even now she was unsure of what to think of the male. He was friendly enough, kind to her, and he seemed to have a very strong need to protect her. She supposed it was a good thing, but today she found herself alone, and without him or the black female that had also felt the need to protect her. Then again, Lalani had also tried to eat her, so the tiny Ethiopian female was beginning to wonder if the reason behind her protection was nothing more than guilt. But, when she had woken up that morning, she had been alone. The sun was shining, the sky was mostly clear, and there was a light summer breeze blowing through the north. But as the day neared the afternoon, darkness had descended in the form of storm clouds.
She had wandered from where she had spent the night last, and because she had no specific territory or den to stay in at the moment, she found herself growing more and more anxious as the sky got darker. She knew that the ominous clouds carried ran, but she had no idea how truly terrifying the coming storm would be for her. Thankfully, as the first heavy droplets of ran began to fall and splash across her thin fur, she spotted the Niall Caverns up ahead. She picked up her speed, though that really was not saying much because her limp was particularly exaggerated today, and whined softly as the ran began to fall in a steady pour, drenching her red coat and making her pin her ears to her head. It was when the first crash of thunder made her flinch that she basically tripped and stumbled into the nearest hole in the wall of rock, finding the immediate dryness comforting, but the open cavern and the darkness surrounding her equally unnerving.
The darkness, the rain, the thunder, it overwhelmed her senses. At least the ones that were good enough to register anything at this point. In the small, dank cave, her eyes were useless. They were already struggling to make out proper shapes when the storm was beginning, but now everything was dull shadows, and she could barely make out the entrance of the storm. Hell, if it was not for the bright lightning that struck much too close to the rocks for comfort, she likely would not have been able to tell her right from her left. Uncertain of the depth of the cavern, she turned away from the entrance, shivering slightly with cold from the water that dripped from her body as she made her way deeper into the cave. But, unfortunately for her, she could see nothing but darkness, and she tripped over a rather sharp stone, cutting her paw, and stumbled right into the back wall of the cave with a sharp yelp.
