Conflicting emotions rippled through the ivory femme as her delicate paws placed themselves carefully across the ground. It had been too long since she had gotten any time on her own, and today was a day that she would be far from the caverns. Her litter was growing stronger by each passing day and soon enough all of her pups would be leaving her to head for the Agoge, their true test. She often wondered if the three of them would stick together or go their separate ways. Whilst there was safety in numbers Lichen knew that her headstrong daughter would more than likely prefer to be by herself during the Agoge. Part of her was worried on how her children would handle being in such harsh climates on their own- she believed that death would never be an option. They were smarter than that and each of them knew how to defend themselves. Lichen just hoped that none of them disappointed the gods or Goliath. There were expectations to be held in Kairos and Lichen was hopeful that each one of her babies would meet those expectations. But the truth of the matter was that they weren't really babies anymore- it was time for them to move up in the world and so Lichen needed to take a step back away from them. She moved silently, stalking towards the Atoll, the sand squishing beneath her paws. This was where it had all began, the very place that she had conceived her litter. It brought back plenty of memories, particularly the way she and Titan had wrestled playfully with one another, as if no one were watching. Lichen closed her eyes then as she lowered herself to the ground, the water lapping at her paws gently. She didn't hate Titan, part of her cared deeply for him as the father to her pups. And she was quite sure that he was in fact the father to their babies. She was more so just disappointed in him.
The entire ordeal had left a sour taste in her mouth. She didn't regret her children, she loved them more than life itself. But now Lichen questioned everything she had ever known. Her beliefs were that she should remain with the first wolf she had ever mated with, but now.. Now she couldn't stand the thought of mating again. She knew that she would not commit the act with Titan again and that left her to be of unsure who's pups she would carry next. It wasn't something that she wanted to think about. She had met Sabaoth and he was a supreme match if she wanted an enormous litter, which might be for the overall good of Kairos, but she wanted to be truly happy. There had been no males that showed any interest in her and so she remained to herself. She rested her head on her paws, her mind wondering if she would ever carry another litter again. She knew it was every female's duty to carry pups, even Xena, but Lichen didn't see it happening again for her. Perhaps she would focus on hunting more. It was something she was good at, something that she truly excelled in. She had been distracted for quite some time but she had plenty of time to make up. There was still a good chance that she could go for lead huntress as Kiva hadn't been seen around Ina'mos in ages. Lichen had heard that she had birthed her litter on Vor'asa which was interesting enough. Her pups would not have to make the swim there, but the swim back to Ina'mos. She shook her head, to each their own. She didn't want to think about anyone else right now. This was time for peace and quiet, time for her to straighten herself out. She knew her expectations for herself, now she just needed to act upon them. Shocking emerald green orbs gazed into the water at her reflection, hardly recognizing who stared back at her. Was she really that gaunt now? She seemed like a ghost when she stared at herself. She closed her eyes again, disgusted with the image. Things needed to change, she needed to change.
