On the morrow, he would leave for the Agoge.
It had been only a few hours since he’d returned to Ina’mos to find Roka upon the shore with Olympus, son of Zohartze who’d tried to teach her to fish – but failed due to Sabaoth’s intruding. All to soon he would be braving the ocean once more, returning to Vor’asa where he would reside for several months, training and overseeing the budding warriors. Admittedly he was reluctant to leave Roka when he’d only just found her once more, but it would give her an opportunity to familiarize herself with Ina’mos, as well as the remaining members of Kairos who would not be attend the Agoge – mainly the females and those too young. With time she would find herself well-adjusted to pack life, and while she would need to handle being away from him each season when the time for the Agoge arose, she would survive.
However, Sabaoth fully intended to spend at least one night with his mate before he left, both to ensure that she reeked of his scent by the morning to ward off some of the more ambitious Kairos males, and to finally have the opportunity to make her his in all aspects. Normally Sabaoth was a brute of great patience, but on this night he found that he had none. Heavy paws lead him towards the falls, relieved to find that no one lurked beneath the underbrush when he arrived. He’d departed from her earlier that day with the firm instructions to seek him out after night fell at the foot of the falls; from there Sabaoth had made rounds of Ina’mos, checking to see who was readying themselves for the swim, and who’d already left – namely Lilith and her brother, Typhon. Now that he’d finished his duties and even hunted to fill his belly, he had only one thing left to do, and that was devote his night to Roka. She’d followed him clear across the continent and to the heart of his homeland, and for that she deserved her reward.
He paused just before the clear pool, the rippling water coming to rest just before it met his paws. It was here that he waited for her, surrounded by the smells of the damp earth and the lilies in full blood. Above him the stars were out in force, twinkling merrily, but a thick set of clouds concealed the moon, casting the land below in shadows and privacy. It was the perfect location, although truly Sabaoth cared little for the beauty of his surroundings. More important things were to come, things that would make the stars and the lilies seem like mere props in the background of his life.
