Changes have become too severe in Anikira, and the wolves have been temporarily relocated to the Anikiran Southern Isles. Things have grown dire and unlivable on the mainland; it was time for outside intervention. Please be sure to review the full update on the staff board for more information!
The current season is fall in the Southern Isles. Due to their proximity to the equator, the region is still warm. There is currently no breeding and no birthing amongst the wolves
She should not have left her mother's side. She should not have skirted the den where her siblings were playing in order to avoid them at all costs. She should have been a good little puppy and stayed where it was safe. But that was boring. It was always boring at home. Her siblings were either too big to play with her, or too stuck up and full of themselves to be worth her time. Her mother, similar to her sister in so many ways, was even more of a waste of space now. It had not exactly been easy to sneak out of Valyn territory, but now that she found herself exploring on her own, she also felt her muscles relax as her eyes scanned the unknown territory before her. Then again, she had come this direction before. When she was younger, far too small and helpless to wander this far alone, her mother had brought her and her siblings to the Geysers on a sort of day trip. There had been a male wolf there as well, but right now the little pup was finding herself impressed with her own memory as she made her way straight to the spewing structures.
She did not know why she chose this place, maybe because it was at least somewhat familiar, but it was suitable enough for her day away from her miserable little family. With no father to speak of, the pup had acted out from the very beginning, but she honestly could not give her absentee sire all of the credit for that. She simply could not help herself. If Silver had not been so busy thinking she was the queen of the world, Mint probably would have practiced her manipulations on her. Instead, she seemed to avoid her larger sister at all costs. Play-fighting was almost a waste of time, unless she could get her sharp puppy teeth on something that she could seriously injure, that is. She knew she would eventually have to return home, for there was little hope of her actually being able to hunt for herself out here at her age. But, exploring would not hurt, right? As long as she stayed out in the open and kept a look out for bears, she figured that she would be fine.
It took her forever to reach the geysers, but when they finally came into view, she slowed herself down even further and decided to actually enjoy her time away from the other females of Valyn. She truly disliked the pack. To be completely honest, she was simply just waiting until she was old enough to turn her back on her family and hopefully never see them again. But before night were to fall, she knew she would have to return to them, as much as she hated the thought. So far, though, it was only early afternoon, so she had plenty of time before she would have to turn around and return to Valyn. Until then, she decided she would wander about the geysers, hoping to find something of at least a little interest that would give her something better to do than waste her life away with her family.

The world was enormous and Lilith couldn’t get enough, her adventurous spirit like an addiction and the world beyond Ina’mos, her drug. Tas’alea was huge in comparison to Ina’mos, and the brutish fae was determined to explore everything – including the unclaimed lands that were directly south of Vor’asa, where Lilith was presently expected to be. But today, she had wandered somewhere new. This was a place unprotected, unclaimed by her father’s Empire. Knowing that it was unsafe made it even more interesting. So far, she hadn’t encountered another of her species. Part of the brash youth hoped that she would. Already, her training had spurred something wild inside of her. Mixed with her already existing arrogance, Lilith fancied herself invincible as she walked heavily throughout the neutral territory.
When she stumbled upon the geysers, Lilith was immediately fascinated – the smell of them was nearly overpowering, and she didn’t need to get too close to realize that they could be deadly. To test this theory, she had trapped a rabbit nearby. Her experiment had been short-lived but effective: the rabbit’s body was incinerated almost instantly when she threw the screaming animal into the blast of steam. All that was left was charred meat, barely clinging to bones, its innards boiled alive. With extra caution, Lilith proceeded to explore the areas, admiring the sheer power of the geysers. She would have to bring Othrys and Olympus here soon.
Then, she spied something – just a blot of ivory against the volcanic backdrop, but the smell that greeted her was undeniably lupine. She approached fearlessly. The giantess had never seen something so small and pathetic before. The runts of Kairos, perhaps… But this child was not from her pack. The pup was comically tiny to Lilith. It was clear that the unknown youth lacked the regal blood of Lilith’s lineage. It didn’t matter where she had come from, only that she was all alone. The pup had stark blue eyes like the twins, though Lilith was not observant enough to make the connection between the three: they all were the offspring of Titan. Lilith had never met Titan, but if she knew that the General had sired a litter beyond Kairos, she would have been outraged. Instead, Lilith was amused by the sight of the scrawny thing, immediately interested and impossible to dissuade. She wasn’t scared of anything, especially not that.
She called out to the stranger as she walked closer, gait impossibly wide due to her blessed physique, baritone voice breaking the silence. ”Hey, you! Kid! What are you doing out here?” All the while, she had not stopped moving, eager to fill the space between the two. She couldn’t guess how old the pup was, but even from a distance, Lilith knew she would tower over the thing. ”Don’t you know it can be dangerous? Where’s your Mommy, squirt?” A sickening smile spread across her lips before a growl rumbled in her throat like a storm. Her smile faded into a snarl, sharp teeth exposed as she lumbered closer to the unfortunate creature. These lands did not belong to Goliath, but Lilith had never encountered an outsider before. She wanted the experience to be memorable for both involved.
Suddenly there was a voice, a deep, tone that did not quite seem as masculine as she would have expected from a wolf that size. No doubt it was a male, one of the monsters of Kairos, the pack that she had assumed her absentee father had come from. The little pup lifted her head, keeping her distance from the nearest geyser, and tilted it slightly as the male came closer. But, as the wolf spoke to her, she found herself sitting down in mild confusion. ”Hey, you! Kid! What are you doing out here?” It was a deeper voice, but the wolf in front of her could not truly be a male. No, it was big, but there was a mild, disgusting femininity about it. Almost as if the creature before her was an abomination that was not truly meant to be living on this earth. As if whoever created it had made a horrible mistake. ”Don’t you know it can be dangerous? Where’s your Mommy, squirt?” Although any other wolf probably would have taken immediate insult to such words, the small gray and white female only tilted her head curiously to the other side.
"Does your mother know that you're a girl?" She asked, ears perked and blue eyes staring almost fearlessly back into the other wolf's odd colored eyes. She did not even have the same color eyes. What possible reason could the creator have for making such an ugly creature? It was almost as if they had picked up whatever spare parts they could find and threw them together because they had nothing better to do with them. "You're ugly for a girl." She added, still sitting down and honestly caring little for the feelings of the wolf in front of her. Hell, she doubted that the other wolf cared at all for her feelings either. "You're ugly for a boy." She added, finally pushing herself to her feet and stretching almost lazily. The intelligent part of her mind told her to leave, to get out before the other wolf could hurt her, but her more stubborn and antagonistic side begged her to stay and poke the bear a bit longer. Instead, she made a compromise. She turned her back on the larger wolf, at least mostly, and made her way carefully between two nearby geysers.
"Do you even have a mother, or were you sewn together from all the different wolves your father has killed?" She had no doubt that the creature she now found herself with was the offspring of a monster, and though she assumed that the mother did exist, there was no doubt that one or both of her parents had serious issues. Then again, her own parents were pretty messed up. Her mother had been raped by a wolf from Kairos, Titan, though she had never seen the male wolf before. She doubted she ever would, if she were being completely honest with herself. The small pup moved easily between the geysers, not at all fearing their hot steam because she was tiny enough to move far enough away from them to avoid injury. Surely this monstrosity of a wolf would have more trouble following her through them. But, she knew better than to underestimate other creatures, especially if they could swallow her in only a few bites.
A pup with better sense would have turned tail and run away. Instead, she opened her mouth, which proved to be surprisingly big for someone so small – she didn’t seem at all afraid of the intimidating beast before her. She had no discernable sense of danger for someone so small and weak. The stranger’s words settled into her brain, repeating: You’re ugly for a girl. You’re ugly for a boy. Ugly. The larger she-wolf’s lip curled further back, herShe wasn’t beautiful like Pandora or a few of the younger pups. She wasn’t trying to be a prissy princess. But that didn’t mean that the unknown pup could talk to her that way. She had no right to speak frankly to someone superior. Lilith would not allow such disrespect. It didn’t matter that the land they stood upon was neutral, unclaimed by either of the packs they came from. The pale pup was little more than a rat in Lilith’s eyes.
All around, the geysers exploded in blasts around them, so close that she could feel the heat of them against her dense coat. The small pup turned to walk away, nimble as she weaved around the deadly spurts. Lilith wasted no time. Her head lowered toward the broken earth below, shoulders hunching forward. Stalking closer, she took great care to avoid the same geysers – more difficult for someone her size, but certainly possible. The haughty white pup spoke of Lilith as if she were a freak of nature – and it was not the first time she had heard something cruel regarding her looks. Lilith wanted to see this little twit in bits and pieces, and maybe she would be lucky enough for her mother to put her back together again.
Perhaps if the girl had a father, she would have held her tongue. She should have known better, and now Lilith had no choice. Maybe, if her mother had discovered her first, the pup would have been spared from the violence boiling within Lilith, her rage growing more intense with each second, each step she took in the direction of the pup’s failed retreat. The sharp-tongued femme was about to discover the meaning of the word ugly.
She didn’t speak a single word as she rushed forward, filled the space separating the two. In a quick movement, the Kairos youth lurched forward, hind legs propelling her forward swiftly until she was on top of the pup. Pinning the girl beneath her was nothing like wrestling with her brothers, who were her equals, and she snarled in the face of the pup. ”Where is your father, runt? Here to swoop in and rescue you? Clearly,” she spat, as if the words were poison on her tongue, “Your Mommy never taught you manners.” Her jaws parted, and with a snap, she caught the ivory tail of the other in her teeth. When she lifted her head again, the tiny female dangled from her maw.
She should have been smarter, she should have thought things through before speaking, but she was too young, too inexperienced. Perhaps in her later years, when she learned how to properly use her obsession with manipulation and her pleasure with the discomfort and mental instability of others, she would know better. But, today, as a young four month old pup, she made the foolish choice, one that the larger female was not about to let her forget. She made her way easily through the geysers, though the meager excuse for an escape was not enough, for within moments to larger female was on top of her and pinning her down. "Where is your father, runt? Here to swoop in and rescue you? Clearly your mommy never taught you manners." As she was pulled up and held by her tail, she could not help but yelp in pain and discomfort. Struggling was basically pointless at this time, and though she could not reach the ground - or anything else for that matter - she fought and squirmed in the other wolf's grasp.
"Oh, and I supposed you could teach me?" She growled, unable to stop the vomit of sarcasm that always seemed to want to spill from her mouth whenever she encountered another living thing. Her tiny puppy teeth fought to find some sort of hold on the other wolf's chest, though she was held just out of reach of doing any actual damage. That, and she was too small and too weak still to really do any harm to the much larger female. "Put me down, you ugly oaf!" Insulting the other female probably was not the best course of action here, but she really could not seem to stop herself. Already her tail was unbearably hurting, and though she bit back a whine of pain, her ears pinned to her head and she finally stopped her struggling. The excess movements were only hurting her more, and though her tail seemed to be fairly strong and supported her tiny weight fairly well, she did not know how much longer she could handle it. "Don't you have pups from your own pack to torment?" She growled, the sound coming out much more pathetic and squeaky than she had meant it to be. After all, she was a tiny little thing compared to the brutish female that continued to hold her, suspended, in the air.

[attr="class","pltxt"]For someone so small, the pup had an awfully big mouth. But she would not be talking for long, not when Lilith was finished with her. She wanted to hear the screams of agony, begging for mercy. She longed to hear the desperate sobs of a stranger. Every syllable that escaped through the whines of the stranger only sealed her fate. Through gritted teeth and a mouthful of soft, snowy fur, a choking laugh escaped. ”Yesh – but you’re more fun.” With each word uttered by the runt, Lilith’s grasp on the unfortunate’s femme’s tail tightened, jaw muscles clenched as her sharpened teeth sank into the tender flesh beneath a white pelt soon drenched in scarlet. Blood trickled down her throat as she tore through flesh. She had wrestled and fought with her brothers before, but this was an entirely different game. There was no one here to stop her. And Lilith was not about to let go. Not until this one learned her lesson once and for all. It made no difference to Lilith whether her enemy was as big as her or as tiny as the wolf that swung from her maw.
She began to shake the pup as a hunter shook its prey, teeth clamping down as hard as she could, with the bite force of an adult. Lilith was already larger than most adults born years before her, and the runt in her jaws was nothing but a scrap of angry meat. Had she grasped the younger’s fae’s neck instead of her tail, the Valyn pup would most certainly be dead by now. Lilith’s head jerked from side to side, the pup’s body moving violently through the air until a sound shattered, like a tree struck down by lightning, a sickening crack – and the small pale pup went soaring through the air, suddenly an unexpectedly free, leaving a thick trail of blood in her wake. Still clenched in her jaws, slowly swaying, remained the mouthy youngster’s tail. A puddle of crimson, still warm, pooled at Lilith’s oversized forepaws, staining each toe deep red.
Booming laughter like thunder erupted from the giant’s mouth once she realized what had happened, though she was careful not to drop the tail. ”I will be keeping this, thank you! Now get out of here before I rip off something else, runt. You deserve it.” Still laughing, Lilith turned back in the direction she had traveled. She knew the pup wasn’t going to lunge for her as she strolled away, walking leisurely, severed tail still carried, even as Lilith offered her final thoughts: ”And if anyone asks who did it, tell them it was Lilith of Kairos – if you don’t bleed to death first.”
It didn’t matter which pack the pup belonged to, or if they knew Kairos was to blame. In Lilith’s mind, there was little the opposing pack could do. Maybe next time, she thought, they’ll keep a closer watch on their pups. She cast a final look in the pup’s direction before departing the gruesome scene, prize carried proudly in her teeth.
The pain, it overwhelmed her. But, when she thought it could not get any worse, she was being thrown back and forth, hung by her tail and suspended in the air by the other female's hold on the base of her tail. She yelped and squirmed, trying not to cry out even louder as Lilith shook her head back and forth violently, almost like she was playing with a toy that hung from her much more powerful jaws. Then it happened. A sickening crack, which was accompanied by a cry of pain from the small pup, and then she was thrown to the side, thankfully missing any nearby geysers. Blood dripped from where her tail used to be as the larger female spoke, as well as from the tail that hung from Lilith's jaws. ”I will be keeping this, thank you! Now get out of here before I rip off something else, runt. You deserve it.” She wanted to growl, to fight, to say something. But all she could do was lift her head slowly to look at the other wolf, head hazy and eyes barely able to open.
She was not only losing blood, but she had knocked her head pretty well when she had landed from the throw. ”And if anyone asks who did it, tell them it was Lilith of Kairos – if you don’t bleed to death first.” And with that, Mint's head fell slowly to the ground. Her eyes were barely open now, unaware of whether or not Lilith remained or had left her to die. All she knew was that she was losing blood and losing consciousness, much quicker than was good for her, especially this far away from Valyn pack borders. She whined softly, trying to lift her head slowly. Eventually she managed to get to her feet, though she was fairly unstable as she dragged herself slowly in the direction of home. If she was lucky, someone would intercept her on the way there. Perhaps there was someone outside of the borders, someone that could stop the bleeding and keep her alive. She was young, much too young to die, and much too stubborn. She growled softly through her whines, ears pinning back as she dragged herself out of the group of geysers and into the open, her eyes on the Valyn border and her mind forcing her body to carry her forward while her stub left a trail of blood behind her.
Beyond the humidity of the jungle, Athena felt little relief from the heat. Her dainty paws tread carefully, following an old, worn path along the dust. To the north lay lands unknown to Athena, to the south, the verdant territory claimed by her own pack. Presently, the silver hued she-wolf roamed through neutral lands, a place that no wolf, nor pack could take for their own. The sun was slowly creeping across the sky, the afternoon still early. A pair of flaming orange eyes searching the brush alongside the trail, looking for something that would prove useful. She hadn’t had much time to practice her healing skills in the pack, but that didn’t mean she could relax. Preparedness could save a life.
Athena couldn’t suppress the need to venture out, away from Valyn and into the unclaimed territory. She knew it could be dangerous beyond the borders, but her life as a wanderer seemed too ingrained in the female, and there were certain plants she simply couldn’t locate in the depths of the jungle she called home. Now that her pups were old enough to be left in the care of the pack, she was afforded more time to strike out on her own. She would always return, though. Athena loved her daughters dearly. She wouldn’t do what her mother had done, leaving her alone in the wilderness to do. The girls were obedient… mostly, anyway. There were nearly a dozen pups residing with the Valyn pack, and while Athena had not officially met some of the little ones, she was well aware of each pup. She knew their mothers, after all – some of whom were so vehemently against the male gender, that Athena was still surprised about their couplings. There were no fathers present, but in Valyn, they didn’t need them.
The overwhelming smell of blood seized Athena’s attention as she neared the infamous geysers – the scent of wolf was strong there. Athena stopped in her tracks, dark nostrils flaring as she took in the smell. Within seconds, she was moving once more, head lowered protectively. She didn’t know whether she’d find a vicious killer there, or merely a victim in need of her help, but instinct drove her onward until she spied a tiny form, covered in blood. Athena’s heart leapt to her throat, for from a distance, the pup looked dead. Her pace quickened to a sprint, and panic began to well inside of her when she realized the bleeding youth was someone she recognized. Though she had never properly introduced herself, she had seen the pup’s unusual markings before – though now, the pale gray spots were barely visible drenched in her own blood.
She was the daughter of Emerald, as small as Athena’s own diminutive daughters. Where the girl’s tail should have been, there was nothing left but blood. Beneath the gore, Athena could see what was left of the appendage – exposed bone, torn flesh. The injury was ghastly, and for a lingering minute, Athena stared in disbelief. ”Mint. Who did this?”
There wasn’t a moment to waste. While the healer had seen open wounds before, this… This was very bad, and without sparing another breath, she grasped the pup by the scruff of her neck to bring her home. It was a miracle she had found the pup at all, and fortunate indeed that she had the knowledge to attempt to save the girl – though there was no guarantee she would survive the ordeal.

This untraditional coupling is one of the truly loving matches in Anikira. Although they are members of two different species, Calantha and Rikez have overcome the differences and rose above, finding love in the most pure of ways. And from this pairing, a litter born of two loving parents was conceived. These little boys and girls will have the great honor of being raised by two parents that support each other, while many of the offspring in Anikira have not had such a benefit. The pair are truly fitting of one another; both kind-hearted and generally good individuals.
