It was early, far too early for the sun to wake her, not yet. The past couple weeks had been wonderful, and though they had not started out very comfortably, the two wolves had gotten very close since the incident at the river. As the sun slowly made it's way to the horizon to cross up into the sky for the day, the tiny female was curled up against the larger male that had saved her life that day at the river. The two had grown particularly close, and though Rita had met a couple of other wolves that she called friend, it was Lex that she relied on for almost everything. She was weak, she knew it, and he was strong. He took care of her, he kept her safe. She could not ask for more. But she did feel more, she could not help it.
Whenever they were close, she felt his warmth surge through her. Her chest tightened, her stomach fluttered, her head whirled. She had found the one that she wanted to spend her forever with, though she feared that her forever might not truly last that long. She was sick, or at least she had lingering symptoms of sickness. Her eyesight was getting worse, and though she was growing more confident with herself, her abilities were still pathetically limited. She relied mostly on Lex to get them food, though she could play a great distraction if she needed to. When it came to dangers or defense, she almost always hid behind him. That is, except for the time that she had wandered off, the last time she would ever do such a thing. She had met an enormous male, Sabaoth, who had tortured her and hurt her, before finally letting her tuck tail and run before he killed her.
From then on, she had tried to stay as close to Lex as possible. But, she had wandered off one other time. That was when she met Auron, a male that Lex still had not met, and still did not know about. Today, though, she was safe and secure by her mate, curled into a ball and dreaming peacefully as her fur mixed gently with his. He was warm, comfortable, safe. She could not ask for more, and yet, she knew they would likely find a pack in their future, and perhaps, if she could manage it, they could have a family. She had no right to ask for more, to ask for these things, but she wanted them, or at least she wanted the chance. Even as the sun slowly began to poke a finger through the entrance of their temporary den and cast it's light against her face, the female slept. Though, she did whine irritably in her sleep and tuck her face into the male's chest to keep the light away for just a little bit longer.
