It was dark, much darker than it should have been at this time of day. Only mid-afternoon, the large male could not see the sun, although he was sure it was up there somewhere. Behind the clouds, of course, but there was likely no hope of finding it today. The cool wind promised storms, and as he made his way out of the more open portions of Airila territory and closer to the border within the Xayar Forest, he assumed he would be avoiding the majority of the wet and wind if it did decide to pour down on them. Perhaps he would find a temporary den here for the night, but that was still several hours away. For now, he was hoping to get at least some of a patrol done before he made his way back to his sick father. Toiro, the leader of Airila, had given his sons permission to accept wolves into their pack, though Arche had only done so with one wolf so far. Rikez, a friend he had met outside of pack borders before he had met up with his father to rejoin the pack he had left so long ago. He was now a full member once more, and though he had not seen many wolves wandering about the pack territory, he knew that Airila would grow quickly, and soon.
For now he moved slowly, and with the meal he had eaten that morning, there was no rush in his movements. Instead, he found that he was perfectly relaxed, ears perked and alert and tail swaying gently behind him. It took him only a short while to reach the edge of the pack's territory, and though he continued moving, it was now right along the edge of the forest where it was possible for wolves to trespass and enter Airila territory without permission. The markings were clear, for he had been freshening them every chance he could get, and even now he paused once in a while to mark a tree or bush here or there. He would keep his father's pack strong and safe, no matter what happened. Toiro would get better, he had to, and Arche would ensure that his pack was still there and strong when he returned to his full strength. One such pause, to mark a large tree, gave him the first sign of the rain that was beginning to fall. A droplet, hitting his nose, made the male flinch slightly as he pushed forward once more. Great, rain. The male was not particularly fond of it, but it would not lower his desire to patrol or his need to protect his father's pack.

Notes: Sorry it's not very long. You can have her approach the border and then Arche can find her, if you'd like.
