She walks. | She talks. | She thinks.
It fluttered in her chest, haunted her dreams, this feeling of dread, like an animal trapped – and truly, she was no different from a pathetic creature stuck in one place. Instead of a snare, she was condemned to the island she was born on. She felt it when she woke, and it ruminated in her mind while she was awake. She had never left, and wondered if she ever would. Perhaps she would be allowed to visit her brothers in the Agoge someday… But beyond that hope, she had little else to cling to.There was no solace in this place. Her waking hours were spent wandering the island, usually with Nimue and often with Fawn. Ina’mos was too small for the Kairos youth, too restrictive. She wasn’t a pup anymore – or, at least, she no longer felt like a pup. Morrigan was certainly big enough to pass for an adult, even though she was still young, due to her enormity. She seemed more like her father with every passing day, bigger than some of the females who lived on Ina’mos already. She seldom slept for longer than an hour at a time, leaving her in an exhausted daze more often than not. Today, she had managed to sneak in a nap in the late afternoon as the sun blazed overhead. It was hotter that day than she’d ever experienced in the five months since her birth, and as the sun began to sink toward the western horizon, Morrigan was grateful. She was a creature of the night.
The sky was alight with colors as the sun vanished into the sea. She set out for nowhere in particular, wandering until she happened upon the waterfall. It was a popular place for the wolves of Ina’mos to spend their days, in the cool mist of the falls, but today, it was remarkably empty in the area. Only the sound of crickets filled the dusk. Just a handful began chirping, but soon, countless insects had joined in.
She loved her mother and her siblings, and she had played with some of the other pups when she was younger, but Morrigan had always been an independent pup. The rare exceptions to the rule were her sisters. It wasn’t that she disliked the others. On the contrary, she knew all of their names. She just felt out of place amongst the rambunctious boys and shy females that the mothers of Kairos had produced, and this seemed unlikely to change as she matured. She saw the future awaiting her: just like all the mothers in the den, covered in noisy pups night and day, tiredly dealing with their litters. None of it appealed to Morrigan. But she kept it all to herself. She knew she was wrong for it.
The mottled fae sat beside the gushing falls, closing her eyes for just a second to enjoy its spray, allowing her mind to stray far away from this place. Her moment was to be short-lived, though, for within minutes, she was certain she could hear the sound of paws close by.

Notes: I wanted Morrigan to interact with some half-brothers and sisters, so come on it. ^-^
