Thor had spent many days wandering the lands of his pack alone. Throughout his solo wanderings the large white male had spent much of it in contemplation. Much in his life had changed in the most recent seasons. He had fallen in battle defending the pack he had once lead. He had been dragged to a land he had no idea where it lay. He had shown up lost and worn and the shores of this strange place with no more than his name and his honor. Yet he had found a place for himself here. He had met the wolf which was now his alpha, a large brute named Goliath, and forged a place for himself.
Then had come Alina. The small female had somehow managed to find her way into his heart. Strange as it had been for him to realize, he could not deny that he had found himself falling in love with her. Part of his thoughts had been dedicated to her as he had moved from place to place familiarizing himself with the lands he now called home. That was yet another strange thing to him, this place was now his home. He had come from a land of ice and snow, where the world itself seemed ready to challenge every living creature in a battle to the death. Now here he was in a land lusher than any he had known. Yet it had as many dangers as the lands he had left behind.
Through it all his mind kept coming back to one ultimate idea, acceptance. He had found a place and in his own ways happiness here. However the hardest thing for him was to accept this new world as his own. The exploration had helped that in many ways. Seeing the lands his pack had claimed helped him place himself in the world. Now he had to find a place for himself in this world in his own mind. These thoughts lead him back to Alina. It was one thing to live one’s life for a pack and its honor. It was an entirely different idea to live one’s life for another.
As the large male crested the edge of the odd cliffs he thought back to when he had first met her, up on those mountains, while he was scouting. She had seemed so vibrant to him, an oddly joyous light in the midst of such a dark life. He would never show those emotions, no. None the less the thoughts still were there in his mind. Yet she had somehow pierced through them and brought him the first true happiness he had felt in a long time. He wondered what she was doing up north with her pack. Was she safe? Was she happy?
He worried for her, her innocence reinforced by her lack of past made her an easy target for those with less pleasant thoughts in mind. The idea of someone taking advantage or hurting Alina brought a snarl to Thor’s lips. He looked out across the jagged sheer cliffs towards the water growling into the air. His fur had thinned some as he had adjusted to the warmer climate. However he was still a creature of mass and strength. His fur was still think but was sleeker now that he had shed the dense undercoat.
The thought of the shedding brought a brief moment of laughter to him. He remembered swimming through one of the many lakes in the area. As he had looked back at his own wake he had seen the patches of wet white fur floating along behind him like a furry foam. Thor shook the thoughts from his head and rested on his haunches watching the sun slowly slink down the sky. The advent of evening made Thor consider where he would rest for the night. He had been wandering alone and sleeping in whatever shelter he could find.
However here on the cliffs he had to wonder where he would sleep this night. There was not much in the way of shelter but thankfully the weather seemed fairly calm and he could smell no rain in the air. Maybe tonight would be a good night to sleep in the open somewhere. Very little in the way of prey or predator would bother any wolf of these lands. Thor looked down the cliffs noting they looked as if massive claws had ripped away the very stone and left the cliffs there.
As he pondered these ideas Thor lay down his body stretched out to relax the tired muscles from his wanderings. He felt like he had grown some during his interim wanderings. He knew for a fact that he had put on some weight, however he felt that the weight was muscle and not him getting flabby. However it was hard to tell changes to oneself from the inside. He knew that his mind had finally calmed down. Now the only thoughts left to haunt him were those of his future with Alina. He was half tempted to storm north and find her to bring back with him. However starting a possible fight with an entire pack would lead to many issues. Not that it scared him from it, but he was not a fool. One had to think ones plans through before you possibly challenged and killed an entire pack for a female one had fallen for.
