In These Hard Times [Airila Pack Meeting]

It was early, much too early to call out to them yet. Instead, the large male moved slowly towards the Issimor Caverns, the beach near the edge of the main island where one could potentially swim across the waters to the Ina'mos. Now, most of the Airila pack was intelligent enough to leave the Kairos pack alone, but heaven forbid something happen and they cross paths on a negative note at some point in the future. The border with the enormous pack made the male nervous, but he made sure to check it frequently just in case a young Kairos wolf mistakenly made their way onto their beach. He knew that about this time the young males of the larger pack would be leaving their island for their trails, but he knew very little about the whole process. So far they were on good terms with Kairos and their alpha, Goliath, but he made sure to be careful regardless, for he wished no harm to come to his pack, his family.

The sun had only begun to creep above the horizon when the male's paws hit sand, though he kept walking until he reached the caverns on the edge of the mountains against the water. There were several yards between the caves and the ocean, but it was clear that the tide was still only slowly receding and would require a bit more time before there was enough sand for the pack to congregate on for a meeting. He had no intention of waking them all ridiculously early, though he hoped that at least some of the pack members were away by this point in time. His father had been doing fairly poorly this morning, and though the large wolf hated to tear himself from the sick alpha's side, he knew it was necessary to keep their pack united and strong together in his absence. With any luck, Toiro would heal soon and fall right back into his position as alpha as if nothing had happened. But until then, Arche was determined to keep their pack and family running strong here in the Shyia.

He sighed softly as he finally came to a stop, stretching slowly with a soft yawn as his tail arched out behind him. What would he say to them? How could he possibly explain things and how they could move forward from here? He frowned, shaking his head slowly and pacing back and forth in front of the entrance to the caverns. Would they follow him? Would they stand by him during his father's sickness? There was always the possibility of their betrayal, the possibility that they would turn on him and cast him out of Airila for attempting to take over the pack in his father's weakness. But that was not his true purpose here. No, he wanted to ensure that Airila remained strong, remained united with purpose, even while Toiro lay sick in his den. If they had no leader, no one to turn to, they would fall apart and be vulnerable to attack or invasion from any of the other packs of the island. He had heard of it happening before, when a pack had grown small and divided, their land had been taken from them. Airila could not afford to lose their lands, nor could their sick leader.

Finally, after what felt like hours, the male inhaled deeply and leaped up onto a large, flat boulder that stood beside the entrance of the caverns. After circling once, then twice, he sat down, curling his tail lightly around his paws and looking out silently over the sand. The sun was mostly above the horizon now, and though there were still a light array of colors stretching across the sky, it was light enough for the pack to be up and about and called to him. With another slow and deep breath, the male lifted his nose, closing his eyes and calling out to them all in the form of a howl. He had no doubt that all of those in the Shyia could hear his call, but he continued on for a short while in order to ensure that none were confused by the message it carried. It called them to him, for news and for a plan, to unite their pack and remain strong, even in these hard times.

Notes: Airila pack meeting! You guys don't have to post multiple times if you don't want to, though I'd like to keep to a posting order if possible for those that would like to keep posting. This is for Arche to inform the pack about his father's sickness and about him stepping in to take over until Toiro recovers. (this has been approved by and discussed with Jay ^.^)

[Rikez]

Ebony paws flashed beneath him as he darted through the trees. His heart was so swollen with emotion that he couldn’t tell if he was nervous or excited. There was a good chance that he was both, but his focus was honed in on the tree trunks whizzing by that he had no time to sort out his thoughts. He darted like a ping-pong ball through Airila territory, the pulse in his ears spurring him onwards. Arche’s howl had rung out only moments before as he patrolled the Northern border, the newly appointed alpha calling for his pack to gather together.

It’s the perfect time, he thought boldly a he pushed himself further, faster across the land. He wasn’t running towards Arche’s call. His muzzle was pointed in the direction of the Eastern border, in the opposite direction of his alpha. In his mind’s eye he could see the sloped opening of a cave, set at the base of a green hill. He was coming for her. Calantha.

Above him, Huginn was riding an updraft. If Rikez were to look up, he would catch glimpses of her dark plumage between the boughs of the trees. He knew she would follow him anywhere, and so he didn’t worry about loosing her in the canopy above. He didn’t slow until the cave was in sight. As soon as he could make it out, his feet slowed to a steady trot and he ducked into the shadowed opening. The air around him dropped a couple degrees as he stepped into the dimly lit space, and he waited for his eyes to adjust.

”Calantha,” he whispered, his breath ghosting from his maw in a gentle growl. She was there, sitting with her tail tucked delicately over her paws. Waiting for me, just like she said she would, he thought. Her audits sat atop her head, and her eyes were wide, as if she were surprised to see him come so suddenly into her abode. Her slim frame was as stunning as he remembered, and her sweet scent met his senses gently, like a breeze of springtime. He came close to her, his height sweeping to the ceiling. ”Come, my alpha has called for a meeting and I have to be swift,” he informed her quickly, his claws pressing into the stone beneath his paws. He hoped his nerves weren’t showing, but bringing Calantha to the pack meeting was going to be a gamble. Even so, he couldn’t think of a better time for him to introduce her to Airila. ”It’s time for you to meet my alpha.”

He turned and bounded from the cave, hoping Calantha was right on his heels. Huginn was circling above, and she lead the way back into Airila territory ahead of the two canines with a shrill cry. The border was heavily scented, and Rikez bounded over it without batting an eye. He knew these lands now. In the trees, the rest of Airila was gathering, and Rikez was about to bring a stranger into their midst. He had no idea how the others would react, but he was willing to defend her no matter the costs.

[Calantha]

It was early, the sun not yet having risen over the distant horizon, and yet Calantha did not sleep. Despite the summer season the air within the dens was cool, the shadows having bathed her in their darkness for the majority of the night. They were fading now, receding before the pale gray light that crept into the corners of the cave, the occasional gust of gentle wind caressing the short fur of her muzzle as she lay just beyond the opening, staring out at the stretch of rock-spotted terrain below. For several moons now she’d waited here, biding her time with hunting and exploring while never wandering far from the cavern for fear of missing him. Rikez. The name alone made her smile, her tail quivering in a way that was both excited and nervous. He would return as he’d promised; she was sure of it. She’d thought of him often since their initial meeting, mulling over the spark that leapt between them, wondering how she’d given in so very quickly. Calantha knew she could not throw caution to the winds and blindly trust the first handsome male who looked in her direction, and yet with Rikez it was….more. She’d seen strong, suitable brutes in the past, ones that were easy on the eyes, and ones that were her own species and no threat to her like wolves could be. And yet oddly she had not felt for them what she did for Rikez; there was no quickening of her heart when she’d seen them like there was with the dark brute.

As she laid there mulling over her thoughts, the sun steadily rose, the sky turning from pale gray to vivid blue as she watched. With a yawn Calantha rose, darting from the recesses of the cave and loping towards the thin, clear spring not far from her temporary home. It had proven to be a wonderful spot for fishing, which was much easier than attempting to sneak up on hares across the bare stretch of land. She came to a halt at the foot of the water, dipping her head to drink, the crisp, frigid liquid washing across her tongue. Later she would return to catch her breakfast, but for now Calantha was content to return to the caverns, contemplating attempting to nap for a while to make up for the sleep she had lost. She tucked herself into the back of the cave, curling her tail around her paws as she sat, moving to lay down just as a shadow suddenly blotted out the light from the outside. She sat up swiftly then, eyes wide, before realizing with a jolt that it was no shadow.

She’d nearly forgotten how much taller he was than she; while the caverns were comfortable for her diminutive form, he almost reached the roof, his hulking presence somehow comforting as he spotted her. ”Calantha.” Her name, little more than a breathy whisper on his tongue, made her ears perk atop her skull, straining to hear him speak again as she stretched out her neck to place a quick, gentle lick upon his muzzle. Her wishes were granted, and as he spoke once more, Calantha struggled to control the sudden burst of anxiety that settled in her chest. It was time. She’d struggled over her decision to follow Rikez to his pack for many days now; not because she did not wish to, but because it was a pack of wolves, and she would inevitably be the odd one out. Still, as he turned and bounded from the cave, she was swift to follow, as if their bodies were connected by a string. He will not let them hurt me, she told herself as she darted after him, slender legs working hard to keep up as they plunged into the forest. She did not miss the scent markers when they passed them, the masculine scent strong and prominent, and still she followed Rikez until at last the trees began to clear and the hard dirt gave way to soft sand. Onward they went towards a rocky outcrop in the distance, and it was upon one of the smooth boulders that she spotted another for the first time since crossing into Airila territory. She slowed beside Rikez, their steps sliding into a less urgent pace, and her heart thrummed hard in her chest as her saffron eyes slid across the strange male whose scent dotted the borders. Thankfully it seemed as if the others had not arrived yet, although Calantha knew they would if the alpha had called a meeting like Rikez had informed her.

She said nothing as she came to a halt beside Rikez, trying hard not to appear anxious, her ears tipped forward and head lowered to a position that could not possibly be considered insolent – but not entirely submissive. Everything in her posture was respectful, but Calantha was too strong-spirited to grovel, and she would not appear weak. The scent of Rikez so near to her was comforting, washing across her and soothing her frayed nerves, their sides brushing just slightly as she tipped her muzzle towards in greeting to the Airila leader.

[Cherokee]

This was all so new to her, she had never been in a pack before and the thought of being able to say that she was a part of one made her heart leap, whether it was because she was nervous or excited she was not entirely sure. Cherokee had however done her best to avoid the others, especially after her run in with Arche and Anima. She tended to stay towards the caverns because it seemed that no one ever visited there, but at times it made her feel claustrophobic. The caverns reminded her so much of her old life and she never wanted to go back there. To the times where she was hidden away from the rest of the world and she wasn't entirely sure why. Her parents had done a good job at keeping that from her aside from discipling her when she asked to see the outside world. That was why she took things into her own paws. She wasn't going to hide anymore and she wasn't going to manipulate others either. This was a fresh start for her which meant she needed to learn things on her own. She was already picking up on the do's and don'ts of hunting and seemed to be doing a damn good job. She was able to catch a pretty hefty rabbit on her own this morning and it had her chest swelling with pride. But a measely rabbit wouldn't feed her entire pack members and she had to aim for something bigger. She had to be bolder with her catches. Cherokee knew that in due time that would come but she wanted to prove her worth here. It was while she was lying beneath one of the large trees cleaning her fore-paws that she heard the call. It was gentle at first and then it seemed to echo around her. She recognized the masculine vocals of those of Arche's. Instantly an image of the warrior flashed into her think box and it seemed to make her skin crawl, though not in a negative way. She wasn't sure why she felt that way about the brute, just that there was some sort of carnal desire beneath the surface. Cherokee was almost certain he had felt it too though she shrugged it off, she was way too shy to even consider bringing up such a thing with the brute.

The ivory femme didn't waste any time. She didn't want to set a bad impression upon the rest of her pack members by being late to the meeting. It was her first pack meeting after all and she was filled with jitters. She extended her limbs and decided to gallop, her talons digging into the soft ground as she ran. This was when she felt at peace, when she was able to release her inhibitions and just let everything go. Her thoughts didn't weigh as heavy on her and the anxiety seemed to loosen it's grip as well. It wasn't long before the grass shifted to sand, the change was remarkable beneath her paws. She slowed to a walk and inhaled the air around her, being sure to check her surroundings. She had been negligent before and had passed unknowingly into a packs borders, she wasn't trying to find herself in such a foolish situation again. She was pleased to see that she was still within her pack territory and the wind indicated that the others were not that far from her. She continued at a smooth walk, her head held high as she made her way towards them. Their scents grew stronger with each passing minute and soon enough she saw them up ahead. Her tail wagged hesitantly but soon the pace quickened when she recognized the ebony brute as Rikez. He was one of the first members she had met and instantly considered him an ally. Beside him was a female coyote who was quite petite in comparison, even to her own side, and not far from them was Arche. Cherokee made her way closer and then cleared her throat gently to announce her presence. She glanced back and forth from each of them, making eye contact briefly and allowing a shy smile to grace her feminine features. Hello. She spoke quietly before pulling her haunches beneath her to sit and wait for the others.

[Nymph]

Moving about like a ghost amongst the peaceful dawn, a fluffy white female nosed the ground looking for an early breakfast. In hindsight she realized she should have asked Audas to come along with her since he excelled at the hunt while she was less than ok at it. But she always tried to improve. 

However instead of food, she came across a new patch of plants that would prove helpful in her healing responsibilities. Snipping a few from the ground, she heard the call of Arche, the male she recently made an acquaintance with. Listening to the rise and falls of the howl, she dreaded that she might hear a sorrowful cry. Everyone knew that their beloved Alpha was ill, hoping for his health to improve but there was always the chance he wouldn't. She shook her head hard, no, Toiro would be fine. 

Sensing no tone that would announce such dreadful news as the Alphas passing, she still immediately ran towards the sound without even dropping the plants in her mouth. Small and light, Nymph darted towards the sound as her mind raced to figure out why a meeting was being called of Toiro still lived. Maybe to let everyone know at once that he was out of danger? Or simply to assign ranks like she had heard would happen every once in awhile.

Slowing as she approached, The healer glanced around until she found the face of Arche and bowed in respect before she let her gaze linger on the others who arrived before her. She hadn't met any one of them before. Dropping the plants she carried at her feet, she turned to smile at the strangers who were still family as they were pack. Except..... Vivid green eyes turned to an odd looking wolf who may not have been a wolf at all. Wisps of her scent reached the Arctic girl. Her head tilted in curiosity, but somehow managed to keep her mouth shut despite all the questions she had. 

Instead of speaking, she beamed at the female in greeting. Wagging her tail in a friendly way as she looked at the others, a male and another female. Noting the uniqueness of their faces, wondering what their stories were. A bird up above caught her attention and she tilted her head at it, was it a friend of someone here? 

The inquisitive nature of a pup was difficult to stifle. Wishing Audas would arrive soon, she seated herself between the charming mismatched couple and the strikingly pretty female. Smiling at the brown and cream girl was all she allowed herself to do. If she spoke, She may not be able to stop the flood of words.

For now, she must wait....


Arche Rikez Cherokee Audas Calantha 

[Arche]

The howl died down after a few moments, and though the sound still echoed slightly around him, the male's ears twitched slightly while he listened for the response of the other pack members. He doubted that any were within the nearby areas, for he would have chanced upon them during his trip here, or he would have picked up their scents by now. No, it would take some time for the pack to arrive, but even now he could hear the sound of pounding paws heading in his direction. Sure enough, at least a few of the pack would be appearing shortly. All the large male could do for now was wait, sitting perched atop the stone he had chosen with his back to the caves and side to the ocean.

The first to arrive, which came as no surprise and a relief for the multicolored alpha, was Rikez. His gaze softened at the appearance of his friend, and with a small nod, he greeted him accordingly. But, today, Rikez was not alone. A strange scent followed him, and though the small female kept close to the dark male, it was easy for Arche to spot the multiple ways that she was different. Not only did she not carry the strong scent of Airila, but she was also much smaller than a wolf, and thinner as well. She did not carry the proper genes of a wolf, nor the appearance of one. Rikez had brought a coyote into the pack's lands, a stranger not only to their family, but their species. It took the larger wolf a moment to come to terms with this, but by the way the female pressed herself against Rikez - not to mention the way Rikez stood tense beside her - he could tell that this female would not be going anywhere anytime soon if the other male had anything to say about it.

However, before Arche could say a word, another figure appeared. Another new face, though this time at least recognizable, joined the group in the form of Cherokee. Their initial meeting was not one that he would forget easily. He had not only met her there, but also Anima, another female of the pack. Cherokee had mistakenly trespassed into Airila territory, and she had taken up residence in the caverns on the opposite end. However, because of her submission and apologetic attitude, he had allowed her to stay. After all, he was sure his father would have done the same and allowed her safety and security within their ranks. Her greeting was short and sweet, and with another nod in her direction, he welcomed her to the meeting as well.

The fourth canine to join the group was a white female, familiar and friendly, and carrying a bundle of green in her jaws. There was no doubt in Arche's mind who this was. He had met her previously, though he had yet to meet her mate, Audas. Nymph was a friendly and familiar face, one that Arche greeted with another nod and a small sigh of relief. Although the entire pack had not arrived, he was glad to see that there were still multiple members interested in sticking together and actually living as a pack. With a deep breath, he finally lifted his head and sat up to his full height. He saw no reason to stand dominantly over them, for it was clear that they all held a proper respect for him and he preferred to live with a mutual agreement rather than forcing himself upon them.

"Thank you all for coming." He said, beginning what he hoped to be a short and concise speech to his father's pack. "My father, Toiro, has fallen gravely ill. Although I am confident that he will recover from this sickness, that has confined him to a solitary den for recovery, he is incapable of upholding his position as Alpha male alone." He said, frowning slightly in concern as he thought about his father's weakness. He visited him regularly, cared for him the best he could, but there was only so much he could do for the other male. "It is because of this that he and I have decided that I will step in as Alpha during his recovery. I pray that you can all come to me with anything and everything you may need to, and look to me for leadership in this hard time. It is during these next several months that Toiro will need our strength and unity the most, and I hope that you will all stand by me as I do my best to lead you through the coming seasons." He said, wincing slightly as the words fell from his mouth. He really should have thought out what he was going to say better before he'd opened his mouth. He had never addressed a pack before, so he hoped that they understood and accepted his message, even if he thought he probably could have worded things a bit better.

[Rikez]

Calantha’s gentle, yet clear touch was comforting as they stepped forward together to face the new leader of Airila. Her pelt touched low against his flank, her light fur contrasting with his solid ebony pelt. Her fresh scent swirled around his, reminding him of the rainfall that had fallen the day they met. Though it was only a temporary position—one that Rikez knew Arche had not intended—the black brute thought his alpha looked bold sitting atop a stone, the green of his eyes standing out on his face as his gaze fell downwards on his friend. The backdrop of the caves was an even bolder choice, and Arche looked majestic as the ocean rolled in nearby. The sound of the waves added a certain atmosphere to the meeting that made the dark brute’s paws tingle—with anticipation or nervousness he was not sure. He knew the position was most likely temporary, but a part of Rikez’s heart was swelling with affection as he saw his friend sitting there. It only seemed right that he was lead by someone he knew and trusted more than any other brute. Honestly, if it hadn’t been Arche sitting atop that boulder, he wasn’t sure if he would have had the guts to bring a stranger to a meeting with the entire pack.

Quickly sweeping the area with his bold amber gaze, Rikez was please to see that he and Calantha were the first to arrive. Even with doubling back across the territory to get the smaller canine, they had made good time. Following Calantha’s lead, Rikez gave Arche a nod of acknowledgement and felt relief flow from his nose to tail-tip as Arche nodded back at the two of them, his gaze curious, yet not unkind. Before they could exchange any words, the scent of another wolf arrived via Northern breeze. It was not unfamiliar to the black brute, and as Cherokee stepped forward, he was able to put a name and face to the scent. Cherokee and he had a brief exchange during a storm, one in which he showed a rare kindness to the femme. No one had ever elicited quite the response as Calantha had, but Cherokee had come close. She had reminded him so much of his own sister—as one who needed protecting and looking after. He smiled at her in an attempt to be reassuring, all the while acutely aware that he probably just looked awkward. Luckily, another wolf trotted up at precisely that moment. A wolf Rikez had never seen before.

She was the softest white he had ever seen, and even more peculiarly, she held a bundle of vegetation in her jaws—something the black brute had never seen a wolf do. He watched her curiously as she sat, beaming at Cherokee as she dropped her leaves on the ground before her. With the arrival of this last wolf, Rikez looked back to Arche. Their leader looked ready to address them all, but before he did, a dark shape came between the two male wolves, and landed before Rikez. He had almost forgotten about Huginn entirely, with his worry for the meeting and introducing Calantha so great, but the dark bird did not take being forgotten well. She clacked her beak at him indignantly and then ruffled her feathers as hopped closer. He knew what to expect as she fluttered over his head and came to rest on his front haunches, her black talons digging into his shoulder. Huginn tucked her wings close to her sides and puffed her chest out, her back tall as she perched. Anything to show off in front of a new batch of wolves, Rikez thought with an internal chuckle. She definitely knew how to make an entrance.

When Arche finally spoke, he informed them all of his father’s illness. He was short and to the point, his words carrying over their quivering audits with dignity. When he was done, he looked at them all expectantly, the first hint of uncertainty slipping over his features.

"We know you will stand by us to the best of your abilities, and we will in return, answer to you until Toiro has fully recovered." Rikez’s voice felt too loud in the silence between his brief statement and Arche’s announcement, but he had wanted to give the temporary alpha some sort of assurance that they understood his message and excepted his leadership.

[Calantha]

”Hello.”

So lost had she been in her own thoughts, Calantha hadn’t noticed the first femme to respond to Arche’s call. Her head lifted suddenly, her gaze sliding towards the lovely newcomer who’d appeared before them, a soft smile gracing her ivory features. Calantha’s own smile was swift to show, relieved beyond explanation to find that there was no surprise or distaste shining in the stranger’s honey-hued eyes. Bit by bit Calantha relaxed, her interest piquing when yet another she-wolf came forward to answer Arche’s call, this one as white as freshly fallen snow and no less kind than the first had been. Calantha did not miss the inquisitive light that crept into the arctic femme’s emerald gaze, but the grin that transformed her feature’s a moment later eased any discomfort that the coyote might have felt. It seemed as if she would not be judged here, and it was this knowledge that made her smile shine brighter, her thick tail swaying slowly around her haunches.

Movement sighted from the corner of her eye caught Calantha’s attention, gaze shifting to find that Arche had stood, commanding her attention as effortlessly as the others. She was silent as he spoke, perked ears taking note of each word. While she was a stranger to Airila, the meaning of his words were simple and easy for her to piece together in her mind – his father was ill, it seemed, and he would be stepping up to lead Airila. After he’d fallen silent Rikez was the first to speak, the deep timbre of his voice drawing Calantha’s eyes to his form immediately, her insides warming at the very sound of it. She could hear the respect for the new alpha in Rikez’s words, could see the comfort on his features, and it assured her that Arche was indeed dear to the dark male. He could certainly be trusted.

When silence fell once more Calantha cast a swift glance in the other’s direction to ensure that she would not interrupt anyone before offering a quiet but firm, ”I hope that your father’s recovery is swift and easy.” It felt odd to fill the silence with her voice when she knew so little of the circumstances Arche had spoken of, and yet it would have been wrong for her to offer nothing at all. Briefly she wondered what ailed the elder Airila alpha; she knew a generous amount when it came to healing due to her mother, and while it was certainly the wrong time to offer this information when she hadn’t even spoken to Arche yet, it was a thought that she tucked away for later consideration.

[Audas]

Audas had risen early. Earlier than most would have gotten up at. The moon had been high in the sky as he slipped out of the den, smiling as he greeted the moon as usual, before pacing off into the trees.

He was beginning to enjoy these nightly morning strolls, he didn't do any hunting during these walks, simply enjoying the scenery and listening to the sounds. Audas felt comfortable in the dark, especially with the moon for company, shining down on top of him. Of course in reality the moon didn't care. It was a ball of rock far away from here, but regardless, he treated it with some respect.

Slowly, as Audas covered the distance across the territory, his mind wandered. First he thought about Kaine, and how he was going to find him, then he thought about Kairos, a massive pack that was now occupying three territories, something that concerned Audas greatly. It reminded him all to much of the momsterous Xavier, he would not run the risk of losing another family, to Kairos or otherwise,

And family brought Audas to a much more joyous thought. He and Nymph had agreed to have a family! Little kids running around their feet kind of family! He was excited but also nervous, he had held back from going ahead with it for now, to make sure they were both ready for it when the time came.

As the moon slipped beneath the horizon and the sun began to rise into the sky, he heard a howl. Audas ears perked at the sound, it wasn't Nymph or Toiro, but it was calling the pack together. What was this about?

Audas turned and began to make the long trip to the location of the howl.

By the time he was close, it seemed like the meeting had already began, and he began to pick up some chatter.

Toiro was ill? Audas shuddered, that wasn't good at all, and he hoped he would soon recover. He also heard that the wolf speaking to the group was temporarily becoming Alpha until Toiro recovered. This brought some concern from the brown furred wolf, but if Toiro agreed to it, then Audas would not object.

As others offered their hopes and confirmations. Audas stepped into the clearing, seeing the temporary Alpha and several other wolves, including his beloved Nymph. He smiled at her on seeing her, before turning to the leader. "Apologies for not being here sooner." Audas began, "I had to cover quite some distance to get here." He then nodded respectivly, "I will follow your lead until Toiro has recovered, hopefully he will be well soon."

Although the large male knew that his words had not been the most eloquent or well thought out, he was relieved by the immediate display of support and unity that the pack showed him. A small smile crept across his face as he sat there looking down at the small pack, but he knew they would soon grow. Hopefully Toiro would recover quickly, and he nodded in appreciation to both the female coyote and Audas, a male he had not yet had the privilege of meeting one-on-one. But he knew there would be time for that, and right now he was just grateful for the wolves that were here showing their support and loyalty to Airila. "I appreciate your words and that you have all come here. I will do my best to keep you all updated on my father's condition as the days move forward. I know there are some new members among us, so although I have nothing else to say, I would like to formally welcome all of you to Airila." He said, pushing himself to his feet and looking down at the members that he had recently accepted into their pack himself.

"You do not all have to stay, though you are welcome to remain here to speak with each other and myself if you wish. I will be staying here for a while today before I go back on a patrol of the borders tonight." He said, hoping that a small gathering would give them all the chance to get to know each other better. They were still obviously loyal and strong as a pack, but there were still strangers among them. Only when all of their pack members knew and trusted each other could they truly be as strong as possible. Finally, with a final nod to the wolves that surrounded the large boulder he had been sitting on, he leaped down to land on the sand only a couple feet away from Rikez. He nodded to his friend with a smile, and then turned to the small coyote beside him. "Welcome to Airila." He said, unsure of what her name was, though he knew that either she or Rikez would tell him within a matter of moments.

She had approached so uncomfortably and almost nervously, and he had no doubt that she had been struggling with the decision to join Rikez in their pack. But, obviously, she had decided to join their ranks. Although Rikez was only a warrior in Airila, the alpha was willing to trust his friend and by the confidence and support the female coyote had shown, he was sure she would fit into their pack well. He glanced at the other wolves that surrounded them, but this female was the only one that had not been officially accepted into the pack so far. Once he they had introduced themselves and he gave her a rank within Airila, he would return to the other pack members and their questions and concerns - if they had any.
