History: Akanke comes from a small pack in Florida, USA. She came to Akanke by way of boat and her own four legs. She was forced out of her pack and took refuge on a ship. The humans on the ship did not see her board but they discovered her when she snuck out of her hiding spot to find some food. They found her finishing up scraps from the night before. They tried to kill her but she jumped into the water and swam for the closest land form. Fortunately for her the ship was passing close to Anikira so she was able to make it to shore with minimal injury.
Her father was the leader of the pack she came from. Her mother was the best female hunter. She was born the runt of the litter, and was treated as such. All her life she has been used by everyone around her. Her father didn't have much to do with her and her mother practically followed suit. Her two brothers got the most attention. She was kicked out of her pack by her father because she had outlived her usefulness. He didn't believe she was a good candidate for mating because of her place in the litter. She was just another mouth to feed and he was tired of feeding it.
The only other wolves who was allowed to get close to her was her brothers. Takio and Malik were both strong, fierce hunters and warriors. Takio took after their father and treated Akanke like she was dirt, but Malik was so good to her. He was the only one who respected her and treated her like something important. She knew she could always run to him if father got on one of his rampages. She was never abused physically, but emotional and verbal abuse were present in her everyday life.
It was Malik that saved her from being physcially abused. When her father would get angry he would direct it at her. It didn't matter if it was her fault. Once, when food was scarce and a few of the cubs were close to deaths edge, the hunting party didn't come back with anything to feed those in the pack who didn't hunt. Akanke had the unfortunate luck to be in eye sight of her father. He headed right for her. When he got close he raised his paw to strike her until Malik stepped in front of her. Her father stopped quickly, not wanting to injure his son. He was very proud of his sons. For whatever reason Akanke's father never tried to strike her again. She is unsure if Malik pleaded with him or if he saw the error in hitting one of his daughters.
She is now roaming the land looking for another herd. One that won't judge her for her past because she is determined to keep it a secret. She doesn't have the strength to make it as a loner so finding a pack is the only way, in her mind, she could survive.
Personality: Akanke is very soft spoken and doesn't know how to speak for herself. Due to her years of abuse she is not a fighter. If she is to get into a confrontation she will immediately concede. If a fight is taking place she will back away from it, rather than get closer to watch the action. Though she was never physically abused she is fearful of what will happen now that Malik is not going to be around to protect her. She is timid and afraid.
She trusts those who mistreat her. She has been taught all her life that she is worth nothing so that is what she thinks of herself. Those who show her kindness and treat her like she is something other than dirt are not to be trusted. She believes this is just a facade to get her to lower her guard so the physical abuse will begin.
She is a very loving creature. She harbors no ill will against anyone, even her family. She is patient and kind. She has no enemies in her mind.
She can be quick to anger. If she is comfortable enough with someone and she knows they will not misuse her she will rant to them. Malik used to be on the end of all of her upset. She will rarely get angry with who she is talking to, but it seems like she is because of the way she brings all her anger into her words. She will never do this with someone new and never with someone who has power over her.
She doesn't realize the strength she has in her. She doesn't know that she does have the strength to stand up to those who misuse her. She will find this strength after many years of healing. In order for the healing to begin she must first begin to heal. Unfortunately, between who she is right now and how she thinks of herself there is no room to begin the healing process.
