The southern lands were a place that Ilithya had come to ghost through often. Light footsteps carried her over ground lightly treaded over mostly by loners such as herself. Blue eyes would scan over the area, peeking over the tall grass at the prey that was spread out throughout the plains. There were deer, of all sizes, and as much as she wanted to go for a young one... she had been taught not to do such a thing. It could disturb the balance, make prey harder to hunt for everyone in the seasons to come. Always search for the old or the wounded. It was a lesson taught to her not by her mother, no, her mother only taught her two boys how to hunt and track prey. She learned from who was thus far her life's only love. The beautiful brown eyed gypsy woman had taught her how to hunt, how to fish, how to live free of anyone's lead or dictation.
Even now, Ilithya could hear her deep, gentle voice, guiding her. Whispering to her in the winds that swept over each blade of grass. Oh how she loved her... missed her. Her mentor had given everything for the freedom that Ilithya now grasped, but couldn't she see that it was only worth it if she was beside her? Not buried in what might as well be a different world.
A sigh would pass her lips, a huff not of defeat, but a heavy concoction of frustration and determination. 'You shouldn't think that way.' The voice would echo, and the woman would catch the man's figure from the very corner of her eye. Her brother... here, even though he was long gone. Mariposa at least stayed dead, she was a ghost to her, guidance. Her brother liked to trail just out of reach and lecture her like he knew better. He didn't understand! It was hard, hunting alone when one was so demure in size and stature. When one was stupid and inadequate, not to mention inexperienced. 'Stop it Ilithya!' But at twenty nine inches tall and a lithe bodice with a weight of sixty pounds, she was simply not made for taking down large prey. "You took after father. You'll never understand." A sharp bark would be given to the hallucination. Turning sharply toward the man she knew wasn't there, and yet had heard and almost seen so clearly. 'Always almost...' The female's ears would tuck beside her head as she lowered it, realizing that she had probably spooked some of the prey.
She would immediately crouch, holding her breath as she hoped she hadn't ruined her chances at any sort of dinner tonight. Perhaps if she laid low, they wouldn't notice her. A minute would pass before the little she wolf peeked her head up, only to watch as the plump backsides of her chosen prey went scrambling into the distance. "Oh, come on" A harsh whisper, cursing at herself and ignoring the feeling of failure, of dread, that went coursing through her. Slumping her shoulders in defeat, legs would fold, leaving Ilithya sitting to the side of the plains. "Looks like we're hunting for birds nests again." Uhg, eating like a fox really upset her and her stomach... but it was better than starving.
