History: Keziah lived in a pack that maintained hostile relationships with those surrounding it. She and her pack mates were trained from birth to kill and die for their Commander, regardless of occupation. The Commander was ruthless and cold-hearted but that’s what had made her a good leader. The Commander had put the good of the many over the safety of the few. Tough decisions always had to be made. When she was a year and a half old, she had fallen in love with her Beta, Thetis. However, a rival pack had kidnapped her and tortured her until her death, trying to get information on the Commander. The pain had been so deep, so strong, so unrelenting, that Keziah detached herself emotionally from those around her, deciding that love wasn’t a weakness she could afford to have. The Commander had taken a liking to Keziah after the kidnapping of Thetis. They bonded over their grief and the Commander had taken Keziah as her Second.
One day, Keziah stood beside her Commander and the new Beta, Melos, as she listened to the leader of a neighboring pack begged for peace, for mercy. There had been a massacre at the paws of one of the members of the opposing pack. They had killed innocent wolves. These wolves hadn’t been warriors, they had been gatherers, scavengers, children, and elderly, which had made the crime so much more gruesome. "Those who are about to die will say anything,” Keziah turned and reminded her Commander when Andromache had finished begging for peace. The Commander had already declared war on Andromache’s pack. Blood must have blood. The massacre had to be answered. Keziah wasn’t sure what Andromache was thinking, coming here, asking for grace when so many members of their pack had been mercilessly cut down. Keziah felt no compassion for the opposing alphess. Keziah had lost friends and family members. Andromache’s pack needed to pay for their crimes, regardless of the reasoning behind the massacre. Andromache had explained that the small party that had attacked had been searching for her, believing that the pack had kidnapped her. As if that would justify what had been done. Keziah looked down at Andromache with cold eyes, imagining her death and the deaths of her people. The Commander seemed to share the same sediment. However, The Commander was merciful and gave Andromache an ultimatum: Leave or die. Andromache’s pack had 24 hours to pack up their things and get as far away from their home as possible, or the Commander would give the order to attack and Andromache’s pack would be wiped out.
Keziah never got to see the outcome of that altercation. Giant birds with wings that spun instead of flapped had taken her and several others far away. Food had been scarce, more so than ever before. The more the prey dwindled, the more often the birds showed up to capture them and do Fenris knows what with them. She remembered running, trying to escape the metal birds, but they kept following. The whole flock of them had them surrounded. She knew her life would be over….. but it wasn’t.
Keziah had woken up on the shore of an island that the locals called “Anikira.” At first, she had tried to get back to her home but her efforts had been futile. The helicopter she had been on had blown an engine due to a bird flying into it. Luckily for her, the humans who had survived the crash had gotten the boxes that had fallen open so they wouldn't drown. Keziah had seen the island in the distance but the massive, ugly ducks had not. Such sorrow. When she arrived, she felt alone and foreign. The packs were utterly different than what she had been accustomed to. In her land, males were trained as warriors and females were trained to lead. But here, it seemed that males dominated both battle and the councils. What a strange way of doing things. At home, both males and females were trained in battle but when they reached a certain age, the females were taken from physical training and began training for more administrative roles. This isn't to say that there were no female warriors, there were just less of them than males. The land was strange and unusual. There were forests and deserts and miniature islands. She had seen wolves that were almost as tall as trees and three times as bulky as herself. Back home, she was average sized. But here, it seemed as if she had landed in the home of the giants. She wondered if there was something in the water.
She was away from her family, her friends, her culture, her home. It was terrifying and overwhelming but she was a warrior and she would survive.
Personality: Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary. -Steve Jobs.
The first things you’ll notice about Keziah is her high levels of focus, self-discipline, intentionality, independence, and intensity of thought. She takes life rather seriously as she hadn't had much time for play and free-spirited-ness growing up. She's charismatic, confident, and projects authority with how she carries herself. She might be characterized by her ruthless sense of rationality, using her drive, determination, and sharp mind to accomplish the things she sets out for.
Happiness lies in the joy of achievement
If there's anything that Keziah loves, it's a good challenge. At her heart, she believes anything can be accomplished, given enough time and resources. She has the makings of being a strong leader (perhaps the reason she had been taken on as a second). She can keep long-term goals and perform the necessary steps to achieve those goals with precision and determination.
I don't care if you call me an insensitive bastard, as long as I remain an efficient bastard
She has a particular skill in recognizing the talents of others; however, this comes with the tendency to call out others' shortcomings or failures with a chilling degree of insensitivity. To her, she believes she's doing the other party a favor, telling them what they can improve on for the future. But most of the time, they don't see it that way.
Emotional expression isn't a strong point for Keziah, never has been. This is something that others will tend to notice right off the bat upon meeting her. She may crush the sensitivities of those she considers to be lazy, inefficient, or incompetent. To her, emotional expression is just weakness (however, using this approach is a fast way to make enemies). This isn't to say that she feels no emotion. She actually feels emotions quite strongly, she just separates herself from them for the believe that intellectual decisions are better than emotional ones.
She loves interacting with others, solitude has never suited her. To her, there's nothing more satisfying than having a lively, challenging conversation with someone (doing that is actually how she tends to make most of her friends).
