At the river again. She had been here a few times before, she had met Lex here, but today she came alone. She sighed softly as she moved towards the waters, her limp and twitch unusually accented today. She whined softly as the pain slowly overcame her, impeding her movements even further until she finally came to a stop at the edge of the water. Her small head lowered carefully to the surface, tongue extending from her muzzle and lapping up the cold liquid slowly and carefully. She was alone again, just as she had spend the majority of her life since her family had turned on her. Her mate seemed to be less and less frequent in her life, and she was beginning to feel more at home in her solitude and lack of social life.
Eventually, though, as she laid beside her river, she began to doze off, finding herself slipping into dreams as her tail twitched behind her and her ears flattened out to the sides. She was running, without hindrance, and she was at full strength and full health. But she knew immediately that it could not be real. It could never be real. Her leg would always be weak, her mind would never be solid and strong, and her twitch would never leave her in peace. She was damaged, and there was no fixing her. Lex perhaps believed he could, but she knew that it was simply not possible. Her run soon became a playful bound, making her body twitch in the real world and inch closer and closer to the water nearby. Soon her paw fell, touching the cold surface of the liquid and pulling her out of her sleep.
She jumped awake, shaking her head and pulling her paw quickly out of the river. Then she stumbled backwards, confused and a bit dazed from her sleep and fell over backwards after tripping over a rock. Luck truly had something to hold against the female, and this time she laid still on the ground, whining softly and panting heavily. It was a wonder that she had survived this long, but on her own so often, she stood no chance of living much longer. Her eye sight was failing, her limp was more and more pronounced, and her twitch made it impossible for her to successfully hunt anything much larger than a mouse. She continued to whine softly for a few moments before pulling herself onto her feet once more, shaking her fur and looking up at the slowly darkening sky. Perfect, she was far from the den, and it was going to be night soon, which meant that her eyes would fail her and she would be hopelessly lost until the sunlight arrived to warm the earth once more.
