History:
With both of Captain’s parents being in captivity, from the day he was born he was around humans and domestic dogs, not the wild and other wolves. The humans that owned his family left him alone for the first two months of his life but after that, they were determined to train him to act just like the domestic dogs they owned. They would not tolerate any wild behavior that he might show and would often stoop to such levels as beating and kicking him to get rid of those behaviors. Thankfully, he was smart enough to learn after the first couple of incidents not to keep repeating what was getting him hurt.
When winter came, Captain was six months old and believing he was old enough to travel, his family brought him and his parents along with their dogs aboard a private ship and headed for a new home in India, leaving their old home in America behind. For the first few days, things went as planned and besides a few sea sick dogs, there was no trouble. However, about a week into their trip, the family ran into some horrendously bad weather. The sky was black, the wind screaming. A mixture of hail and rain pounded the ship, making it hard to see even a few feet ahead. Vicious waves beat against the sides and, despite their best efforts, his owners were unable to escape the dreaded situation before they ship began to sink, broken apart by the waves.
As the ship began to go down, Captain did the only thing he could think of as a pup and jumped overboard, hoping to get away from the situation. However, he quickly realized his mistake when bitter cold water washed over him. He was sinking and he had to scramble to the shore to gasp for air. He had never had any practice with swimming but luckily, his instincts kicked in and his legs began paddling. Where he was going he had no idea but he knew returning to the ship and back to his parents was not an option. He used all the strength he could muster to keep swimming and just as he was about to give up, he felt solid ground under his paws. With weak trembling legs, he barely crawled out of the water before collapsing and passing out.
By the time the pup woke up, he had no idea how much time had passed, hours, days, maybe even weeks. All he was aware of was the agonizing hunger that overwhelmed him and the fact that an elder female was standing over him. He wanted to growl, to protect himself but all he could do was blink painfully as his eyes adjusted to the bright overhead sun. The female introduced herself as Renee and said that she would be taking him in, not giving him a chance to argue. With a simple nod of his head, all he could really muster, she dragged over a small fix that she had killed and told him to eat. He instantly dug into the kill, eating as if he had been starved for weeks. By the time he was full, only little remained of fox and that was quickly eaten by the female.
As Captain grew older, he lost the memories of his parents and of the humans and began to remember only Renee and Anikira. However, even with his memories of the ship wreck gone, his hatred of water remained. At first, it started as a fear of water, wanting to go nowhere near it and avoiding it at all costs. But, as he grew older and larger, he realized water wasn’t going to hurt him and the fear turned into a simple hate. One where he would go near and in water but only if he had to, still preferring to stay away from it.
Renee took pride in teaching him all the she knew, to hunt, to fight, even to fish despite his hatred. However, what she took the most pride in was the manners and respect she was able to pass down to him. Nothing made her happier than seeing him turn into a gentleman and a leader and, loving making her happy, he always worked to better himself, never believing he was perfect which meant there was always room for improvement.
For three years, he stayed beside Renee, growling, learning, and bettering himself. However, a few months before his third birthday, Renee began to grow frail and could no longer travel long distances or take care of himself. Captain hunted for her, helped her get to water so she could drink, and stood guard over her. Her condition grew worse with each passing month but Captain refused to leave her side or let her see how upset he was. Not more than a few days after he turned three, he knew the time had come and he spent the night lying next to her, watching her pass away before the night was over. With a gentle nuzzle and a sad howl, he left her side and went out to start the next chapter of his life.
Captain spent the next year of his life as a loner, traveling and continuing his learning, getting better at both hunting and fighting, though he rarely practiced fishing. It wasn’t long before he realized the loner life wasn’t for him though. He liked the companionship of others being around and he enjoyed getting to lead them, as he had in Renee’s last months. But, he knew he wouldn’t settle for just any pack. He wanted to find the perfect pack for him because he knew that once he swore loyalty to them, he would never leave, not unless he absolutely had to. He would be with them for the rest of his life so he would not pick one carelessly.
After his fourth birth day, he found his way to Aleru which in return lead him to finding Ultoris. For a few days, he watched the pack from a distance and only after he was convinced it was one he could fit into and be happy with did he call to the alpha. He awaited his arrival with eagerness and when he finally showed, he bowed respectfully and addressed him as sir, showing his respect and that he meant no harm. He was thankful when he was allowed to join the pack and he swore to the alpha that he would do all he could for the pack for as long as he should be a member.
Personality:
Competitive- Though arrogant is not necessarily a word to describe him, he strives to be the absolute best he can be and does not like being in a second place with anything besides his rank. He is constantly striving to better himself and would rather be training physically and mentally than be sitting around doing nothing. If he sees a chance to turn something into a friendly competition, no matter how little it may be, he most definitely will.
Leader- He is definitely a leader, standing alongside his alpha to make sure his pack is run smoothly and efficiently. Submission is not something he knows or does well and with the exception of his alpha, it’s not likely to ever happen. He would never dare challenge his alpha for his spot and should anyone else try, he would not be afraid to knock them down a leg or two.
High standards- Captain has extremely high standards for not only himself but for all those under his demand. Respect and manners are two things he will always make sure he practices. When it comes to anyone ranking above him, he will most always say “yes sir” or “yes ma’am” when taking orders and even with those bellow him, he’s still likely to use ma’am and sir to address them. He does not put up with slacking or being rude nor does he stand for childish behavior. Should he see those things in a wolf below him, he will make sure the incident doesn’t repeat itself.
Decisive- With the ability to quickly formulate multiple outcomes of a situation and the consequences that may come out of those outcomes, it never takes Captain long to come up with a plan of action and once it’s in his head, he becomes determined to see it through to the end. He does not like waiting around for decisions to be made, especially in times of emergency and if a wolf can’t make up their mind, he will likely come up with his own plan.
Realist- Neither an optimist or a pessimist, Captain views the world around him exactly how it is. Nothing is sugar coated and the truth is the only thing that comes from him, no matter how painful it may be. Lies are not something he stands for and will get on someone’s case should he find out they’ve been lying. If one wants an honest opinion he would be the one to go to.
Never angst-ridden- While Captain may feel guilt for some of his actions, especially in times of battle, he never dwells on those feelings. Any actions he does to make him feel guilty are done with justified means and are seen by the best way to go about the situation so in return, he knows his feelings are justified.
Protective- Even though Captain will jump into harm’s way in an instant to protect those around him, he would rather die before anyone else’s life in danger. He does not use allies lightly, making sure they stay behind him so that he may get the worst of everything and the death of innocents is something he takes extremely seriously. He will not tolerate someone bullying or threatening someone he cares about.
Loyalty- He is extremely loyal and once he swears loyalty to someone or something, he will not Break that bond of trust unless he absolutely has no other choice. He will do whatever he can to help out that person or thing and to make it better than it was when he arrived. If he’s asked to do something, he will do it as long as it does not go against any of his morals and he will get it done accurately and quickly.
Mate- Finding a mate and starting a family is something he strongly hopes he can do one day. He longs for a mate who he can take care of and treat like a queen the way Renee taught him to treat the ladies. As a single male, he can be flirtatious at time but if he senses the female is uncomfortable with it, he will stop instantly. Once he has a mate, they will have his complete devotion and he will not betray their trust. He believes in mating for life and will look for a partner who he will be happy spending the rest of his life with.
