It was a bright and sunny fall day and Captain knew it would be one of the lasts. With Winter right around the corner, sunny days were limited and would soon be replaced with white clouds and falling snow. Making the best of the day, the beta decided to go out and circle the pack’s borders, making sure all was secure and that no loners were trying to intrude. He sighed peacefully to himself as he walked, enjoying the quiet. Birds had already migrated south so none of their calls could be heard and prey was beginning to migrate and go into hibernation so the land was quiet as well. As for sounds that could come from other wolves, he wasn’t sure where the members of his pack were or what they were doing but he guessed they were busy doing their own things.
Making his way to Selunari Expanse He allowed himself to loose himself to his thoughts. He wondered if the things he had done in the past year would have made Renee proud and if she would be happy with the pack he picked and the position he received. Well, the last part he knew the answer to, she had always enjoyed watching him lead and would be more than proud to see him as an alpha or a beta, more so than any other rank. Everything else however was a guess and he had to try not to doubt himself. He had learned from a young age that there was always room from improvement and so he wondered if he had really done things to the best of his ability. Could he have found his pack sooner? It was just one example of things he knew he could have improved on, he only hoped Renee was happy with the fact that even though it did take him a year, he still managed to get where he was eventually.
As he got to Selunari Expanse, he came back to reality and looked around. He, of course, hated the feel of the ground, the everlasting wetness that would never go away. But he enjoyed the rest of the area. He loved watching the glow worms that lived on the ceiling, providing constant light. Even in the darkest of nights, they provided a light that acted like a hopeful flame to the pack, speaking of the best that they could be. He found the moss and ferns interesting and a pretty sight and enjoyed the feeling and scent that came with brushing against them. Looking to his right and then to the left, he decided to start with the right side of the land and then move to the left. Upon first glance, everything seemed to be in order and no one seemed to be around but he knew better than to trust all first impressions.
