Changes have become too severe in Anikira, and the wolves have been temporarily relocated to the Anikiran Southern Isles. Things have grown dire and unlivable on the mainland; it was time for outside intervention. Please be sure to review the full update on the staff board for more information!
The current season is fall in the Southern Isles. Due to their proximity to the equator, the region is still warm. There is currently no breeding and no birthing amongst the wolves
Typhon's wet paws hit sand much sooner than the first time he had swum to Vor'asa; that had been months ago, though it seemed much longer. The island had changed, as seasons had shifted and the cold chill of winter had replaced the brisk autumn, and the gargantuan male shivered and shook the water quickly from his pelt, relying on the dying sunlight to dry his fur. He did not have time to waste licking it, nor did he want the horrendous taste of saltwater coating his tongue. Once free of the sand and standing before the cliff, he spent a few seconds scraping grains of sand from between his toes, as it would irritate him to no end and he wanted to focus on his climb.
Before long, the reddish-brown brute had made it to the top, surveying the shore behind him briefly before setting his sights on a new target--the far side of the island, separated from Kairos territory only for as long as it took him to get there. His plan was to hover at the border between the two lands, then invade Valyn's lands and claim them in the name of Goliath just as the sun came up to the east. He would have help, of course; Lilith was on her way, eager as her brother to instill fear in the hearts of the odd females who inhabited the other side of the small island, and Sabaoth had promised to aid him as well, though he was unsure when his formidable uncle would show his scarred face. Between the three of them, Typhon knew that victory would only be a matter of time.
It would be incredibly easy to frighten them, as he had heard that, though somewhat strong in numbers, they were small wolves who would not likely be able to defend themselves from even a trio of oversized beasts. It certainly helped that, in addition to himself, Lilith would be joining in the conquest; he had mentioned it to her expecting a scoff, but instead was met with excitement and eagerness. Their time spent bonding in their youth had made the two a formidable duo, and Typhon was half expecting a quiet takeover instead of a violent one.
Should it turn violent, I'm sure the two of you will do fine, purred a voice only the male could hear, causing him to grin wickedly as he headed straight through Vor'asa towards Kal'dyne. You and Lilith are the toughest of Goliath's offspring by far, and the most ambitious. He will be very proud. His dearest sister would be meeting him a little later, but as she had initially beaten him to the Agoge, Typhon was determined to be the first Kairos wolf to invade Valyn territory. And so he was, as he placed all four of his immense feet at the edge of the Waryck Jungle and peered into the sparse trees, unable to see very far as the forest thickened. The soft sounds of creatures hidden--whooping monkeys, screeching birds--reached his upright ears, but he dismissed them as unimportant; he would not venture any further without his sibling.

Dark of night concealed the lurking beast as she traversed over lands still unfamiliar to her. By dawn’s light, the jungle lands would fall to a new ruler, and the strange territory would belong to the Kairos Empire. Lilith had returned from the Agoge for only a matter of days before she left again. All of that training and hard work, the suffering and the straining and the triumph, everything that Lilith stood for – tonight was the beginning of her new life. Saliva dripped from her open maw as she panted, her breath leaving a trace in the cold air, eager to arrive where she knew her brother already stood. The plan was a simple one, and naturally, the brutish daughter of Goliath and Datura had to be a part of it – even if it had been Typhon’s idea instead of her own brilliant creation, it was still a damn good one. It would be Lilith’s first real taste of the outside world, and already, she was ready for blood.
The swim had once been difficult, but now, it was less difficult for Lilith. Each journey across the water made her stronger and more determined. The night wore on, and Lilith was on foot, each long stride carrying her closer to the jungle and to her waiting brother. Next, when their mission was a success, she would go to Acerbus. For now, she was more than happy to assist Typhon in securing their father’s newest territory. She wondered – hoped – that some of Valyn’s loyal she-wolves would be there to meet their conquerors, and a smile broadened across her muzzle at the thought of them. Lilith was not like the wolves who called Kal’dyne home – or, more correctly, the wolves who once called the jungle their oasis. Soon, they would be left without a home… Or perhaps they would return home with the conquerors of Kairos, the spoils of a short-lived war that was about to unfold around them. And none of them knew it was coming. Lilith’s laughter filled the peaceful air as she imagined their surprise to find the newest residents of Kal’dyne among them.
Lilith found it challenging to keep moving, for everything here was so different and new, but she was a brute with a purpose in mind, and her rigid training had molded a wolf who was focused and determined. She would not stop until she found Typhon. Her brother was mercifully easy to track, as he had made no discernible attempts to hide his trail. He was a brazen wolf. Lilith was similarly reckless as she picked her way through the dark scenery. She didn’t try to mask her scent or quiet her step. She discovered her brother waiting alone, and she barked out a harsh greeting as she rushed forward, unable to hide her excitement as she nearly dashed headfirst into Typhon. The giantess was not the clumsy pup she had once been, and she drew to a stop at her brother side. ”Here we go!” Her mismatched eyes turned to the jungle, waiting for Typhon to begin, and her tail wagged behind her with youthful enthusiasm.
Today, if the gods blessed her, she would kill for the first time.
She had seen far too much of these waters as of late. Her paws seemed to churn endlessly as she finished the final stretch of sea between the Ina'mos and the sandy shores where she had originally landed on Anikira. The smell of salt was as strong in her nostrils as it was then, the water just as much of a dead pulling on her soddened fur. Although she was resilient, relief flooded through her limbs as she finally reached her destination and sunk her heavy paws into the fine sand. Relief and... excitement. It charged her from the tip of her black nose to the very end of her wet, hanging tail. She had been here only weeks ago, taking her first steps towards fulfilling her mission; to eliminate the weak and instill fear in those who did not deserve to walk this earth. Now, she was here to help someone else with their own mission.
But first, she had to find Typhon, son of the Emperor.
Far was not one to make friends. She had spent her days as a new member of Kairos flitting through the territory like a shadow. She never lingered for long and never attempted to make contact with anyone. She simply watched and waited. Listened and observed. She was a member of a pack of giants now―a pack of conquerers―and she was going to use every bit of information she gathered from them to better this god forsaken world. Some of that information had come to her only days ago; talk of conquering was in the air, and Typhon was to lead the raid. He was a hellish brute, surpassing her in both height and weight. He was nearly a walking replica of his father. Far had watched his exchanges with another male from afar, and then, she had made her plans to follow them to the larger island.
Typhon, I will find you.
Ebony paws stepped across the shifting surface of sand soundlessly as the mottled black femme stalked forward. Her nose twitched as it pointed in the only obvious direction she could see―the tall cliff jutting out of the sands close by. It wouldn't take her long to overtake the steep climb and find a scent. When she finally reached the top and looked out at the land before her, thick jungle met her eyes. This was different than lands she had known before. This new territory was humid and damp and full of color. Despite the unfamiliarity, she approached the dense foliage without pause, intent on the task at hand.
And then she saw him. Standing with his eyes trained on the lands in front of them, the giant brute stood nearby on the top of the ridge with his head and tail raised high. His muscles rippled beneath his pelt at every subtle movement of his body. He was bold, unforgiving, bred of a true leader. He intrigued her, a task that was not accomplished lightly. He was walking, breathing proof that genes were the source of success on this earth. Their bloodline was unstoppable, and she was about to see this all play out soon.
As she watched, another wolf barreled up to the male, limbs twitching with energy. Blood red eyes narrowed at the scene playing out in front of her. The hulking form of this newcomer looked more brutish than femme, but as their scents drifted to Far across the clifftop, she realized that the large wolf was in fact female. As the two greeted each other, Far stepped forward without shame. She didn't want them starting without her now, did she?
"Hello, Typhon. We have yet to meet, but I know who you are and why you are here." She was not a wolf who liked to waste her breath. Everything she did was with a purpose, and so, she cut to the chase and continued, ignoring the femme beside him. "My name is Far, and I have sworn to aid Kairos with my skills. I have found that you may have use for me in your conquest."

[attr="class","pltxt"]Surely his nose betrayed him – Valhalla surveyed the jungle, which otherwise appeared as normal, if perhaps slightly hushed by his oncoming, the steady patter of his paws warding off lesser creatures from encroaching his path. Unfamiliar scents swarmed his nostrils, but the perpetrators were hidden, as though nothing more than shadows in the distance… there, but unseen. Still and silent. His blood rushed with uncertainty, paws carrying him on despite the utter hesitation underlying his gait. He was not prepared for this – nothing could have, in his short life.
Green eyes glinted in his peripherals, almost unnoticed and hidden amidst the lush emerald foliage that surrounded them. Unfamiliar eyes coupled with a grossly unfamiliar scent. Valhalla’s large paws faltered, coming to a jarring halt – yet his gaze swept around him, certain there were more of them nearby, if his nose was indeed not being misled by the richly complicated aromas of his tropical home. His heart began to thrum in wild curiosity, not yet ascertaining the gravity of the situation, other than the fact that the stranger did not belong here.
Then he saw them, heard their sinister voices - one enormous female of a fiery red hue, and another femme with eyes the shade of freshly spilledblood. His throat cleared loudly – in part, attempting to cement his confidence to the outsiders, and in part, to unstick his throat which had almost sealed shut from disbelief. Hot blood flooded to his limbs with forced resolve, speaking in a steely tone not unlike his mother when addressing their pack. “You tread on Valyn’s ground, stranger. You and your… friends,” his eyes searched behind the enormous brown wolf standing before him, certain that there could have been more lurking far behind him in the trees. “…Are not welcome here.”
He hoped his fragmented warning would serve its purpose. He had no desire to fight them – but this was his home, not theirs – and indeed, if the miscreants dared threaten anything he held dear, then fight he would. His hackles pricked at his nape, longing to announce his concealed defensiveness, but he refrained from showing even a glimpse of hostility. Fear gripped him, ebbing slowly into aggression as the adrenaline served its purpose and prepared him to do what he was bred for – to defend his home and family, no matter the cost or consequence. They would rue the day that they brought their dark intent upon Kay’dyne, upon Valyn, and upon him.

There was an unspoken rule within the boundaries of Valyn. Males were not welcome; Akachi being the rare exception to the rule. Levi had not yet ventured outside the pack's boundaries, but it was only a matter of time before he, too, left the pack to forge his own way. Yet something tied him to the pack, and his mother had not yet driven him from the ranks. It had been far calmer without Arya around, but that did not mean he was any less unnerved by the elitist attitudes of the other females in the pack. He knew they looked down on him, even with the size and strength of his very being. They were threatened by him, and it was not difficult to see why. However, they dared not approach him, and it was clear that whatever decision he made, it would be on his own terms.
But now, there were others.
The scents had first caught the male's attention as he prowled the northeastern borders of the pack's jungle. It was bizarre to catch the scent of another male, even stranger for it to be in the company of females. It intrigued the giant, drawing him after the scent in a bizarre twist of events. Perhaps there was something interesting at the end of the trail. Maybe, just maybe, there would be strangers for him to deal with; after all, he was there to serve, and nothing more. Yet when he caught the sight of the strangers, Leviathan took a moment, quirking his head to one side, intrigued.
In all his days, the brute had not laid eyes upon another wolf that rivaled him in size, yet before him there was not one, but two. Furthermore, they wore an uncanny resemblance to his own likeness, each with their own unique quirks. It was odd to see a female larger than Mother. Mother is not going to be happy to see them here, he mused once more, his eyes devoid of any decisiveness.
His duty was to confront them; Leviathan knew no more than the duty that was bestowed upon him as a male of Valyn. He would protect and serve, but for what reason he knew not. There was no obligation, no moral tie to these females. The only thing that held him to it was the ideal that Mother had requested it, and what Mother said, he did. He must adhere to her request, as clearly it was made with reasoning behind it. He could not help but think that these strangers were the reason behind it. They clearly were not here for social reasonings, or they would have halted at the northern borders. But no, Leviathan found them smack in the center of the jungle, far from the scent markers his mother had placed signaling the borders of their pack.
"Mother has not summoned you here. This is not a place you should be," the stern words slid from the male's muzzle, his golden and blue eyes staring straight at the gigantic female as he echoed his brother's warning. His words hung ominously around him, his lip curled back ever so slightly as a growl rumbled in his throat. The little one, she was not a threat other than in numbers. It was the male and female that Levi monitored acutely, his eyes never leaving them as he patrolled along the trees, moving in a half circle around them as he turned to stroll back. "You should not be here."

The sounds of the jungle had begun to return; growing used to the scent and sound of the immense wolf, the creatures that had hidden within the trees ventured forth again when they realized he was not there to get them. Typhon took the moment of peace, knowing that his chances of a quick, easy conquest were unlikely; this could be his last moment alone and unharmed for a while, if Valyn chose to fight the intruders of Kairos for the lands. He did not fear a fight, but anticipated it, and with the wolves he had by his side, Ty feared nothing.
Heavy footfalls reached his ears, and the male turned to grin at his sister, the two of them nearly identical in size and certainly in ferocity. Lilith barrelled toward him, doing as little as he had to keep quiet, for they were in no way attempting to sneak about. No, today was about breaking the border and taking it as their own, and silence would do them no good here. "Lil. Excellent timing. Glad you made it," he rumbled, though he had not doubted his sister's abilities for a second. Any female who could make it through the Agoge was tougher than any male who didn't, and certainly qualified to attack a pack of useless, inattentive females.
Before he and Lilith could take their first steps, however, there was something moving that caught Typhon's eye, and without much alarm he turned to face it, the movement belonging to a wolf sized between his mother and the rest of Kairos. She was unfamiliar to him, but stepped into sight without so much as an ear twitch, and Ty narrowed his green eyes briefly, eyeing up the stranger. Clearly she had swum here, marking her as unlikely to belong to Valyn, but there was not much scent for the young male to distinguish from afar.
Suddenly she was speaking, and the word Kairos left his lips; though he had heard nothing of any newcomers, the wolf had been busy--with the Agoge, and then with spreading his intentions throughout the land as well as reuniting with his dearest mother. It would have been easy for new members to slip his notice, especially wolves as small as this one. Had she not had such red, almost glowing eyes, he might have dismissed her as part of the forest background. As it was, his curiosity was piqued, though her direct words to him and not so much a glance at Lilith were telling.
"Nice of you to come, Far," Typhon said in a deep tone, somewhere between threatening and not. As of yet, he was unsure what to think of her; but the time for thinking was over, and it was time to act. "Serve Kairos well and you will be rewarded. Do harm to any of ours, and you will die. Today we push Valyn from their home and claim it." Saying the words out loud brought a flash of adrenaline to his veins, and Typhon bared his teeth in a fierce grin at Far, knowing that it was likely she understood what would happen to her if she was already claiming loyalty to Kairos.
As he turned back to the forest, Typhon set his eyes upon a pair of blues that, for a moment, made him believe that Goliath had heard at last of his conquest and come to greet them. But no, it could not be; the form that carried those eyes was not quite the same as his fathers, for it was very young and clearly uncertain. Excitement coursed through him then, replacing the anticipation as he realized that this must be the first Valyn wolf he would interact with. Turning his body to face the male, Typhon drew himself up to his full height, his head towering above the forest floor, though he was not too much larger than this blue-eyed wolf.
"Not welcome here?" he growled, the grin still clear upon his muzzle. "Oh well that much is obvious. The putrid scent of your pack will take ages to wash out of the soil." Behind him, Ty's tail twitched as though her were an angry cat, itching to pounce and needing to dispel the energy instead. "If you are so inclined, you can remove us. Try to, at any rate. But my sister and I are here for land, and we will not be leaving anyone else in charge of it. Kal'dyne will belong to Kairos." By the time he had finished speaking, a fervent tone and feverish glint had reached the young wolf, and his muscles began to ache with the need to move.
But he stood still, except to turn his head toward yet another wolf, appearing from nowhere. He was clearly akin to this blue-eyed and fearful wolf, and just as blunt, it seemed; the first words out of his mouth caused a great laugh to echo in Typhon's chest and leave his open mouth, bouncing through the forest in a jolly fashion. "Your mother did not summon me, this is true," he replied, curling his nails into the grass as he flexed his paws. "But I have a message for her all the same. Is mommy home?"
When no response came from the less intelligent of the two Valyn wolves, Typhon turned his jade gaze back to the blue-eyed monster who looked so much like Goliath, a subtle rage rising within him. The young wolf knew of his father's propensity for spreading his genetics, but the thought that he had gifted the putrid, unworthy alphess of the lands with his pristine genes was infuriating. However, he could not confront Goliath about his actions, and in lieu of doing so... perhaps he could take it out on this wolf instead.
There were only seconds of warning before Typhon bunched his muscles and leapt forward with a dramatic snarl, aiming himself directly at Valhalla. The subtle rage became a fire that fueled him, and before he even knew it, his gigantic jaws had closed around the massive neck of the other young wolf, tightening over the windpipe while severing the huge veins that ran underneath the thick fur. The force pushed the wolf backwards but he did not fall with the strike, not immediately, but he would. The grip Typhon held with his jaws tightened until he could hold no longer, and the massive wolf opened his mouth and stepped back, blood dripping down his own neck.
Fury subsided and was replaced with satisfaction as Ty's tongue moved smoothly across his lips, the copper taste of the blood cooling his anger more effectively than he would have thought. It was the first time he was tasting the blood of his own--own species, that is--and it brought him something akin to unbridled joy, as though nothing had ever brought him such happiness. With blood still covering his face, the male bared his teeth in a sickening smile, waiting for the end of his victim.

This untraditional coupling is one of the truly loving matches in Anikira. Although they are members of two different species, Calantha and Rikez have overcome the differences and rose above, finding love in the most pure of ways. And from this pairing, a litter born of two loving parents was conceived. These little boys and girls will have the great honor of being raised by two parents that support each other, while many of the offspring in Anikira have not had such a benefit. The pair are truly fitting of one another; both kind-hearted and generally good individuals.
