Kal'dyne reeked of brutish wolves, the harsh scent easily overpowering the stale markers of Valyn. The silvery fae did not dare to approach the wafting smell, avoiding it at all costs. Overwhelming fear numbed her ability to reason or to think, making her walk mindlessly forwards apart from the occasional swerve sideways to duck the overwhelming aroma of invaders. Forwards. Away. Escape.
She was foolish. She was cowardly. She was a traitor. But no matter what, Tempest could not bring herself to fight. She was weak. She was a weak, foolish, traitorous coward. She could not leave, surely? But she could not stay, either. She would have to leave. Tempest would have to leave her birthplace, her sacred natal pack. She would be abandoning the last of her family, blood or not, but maybe she could find the rest. They could not be... No, she did not dare to speak of the word. They were alive and well; the femme was sure of it.
Humid air transitioned into cool, autumnal breeze as the last jungle tree passed by. Tempest came dangerously close to a brown-pelted brute but managed to escape his presence swiftly, partially due to her petite size. The ambient sound of geysers, birds, and the wind emanated from R'imdar's core, but it did not last long for Tempest as she soon began to descend from a cliff face, holding her breath for as long as she could bear in fear of falling. Terror was encapsulated in her red-orange oculi as the harsh descent became steeper and steeper, but she persevered, clinging onto the thin strip of land that she was following. The amber-eyed femme took shuddering breaths at the base of the hulking rock, momentarily curling into a tight ball to recover. Raising herself and giving her pelt a thorough shake, she began the sickeningly horrible swim to the mainland. Tempest knew not of where she was going or what she was doing; it was merely her pure instinct in which she was going off of.
Her paws began to thrust the water behind her, paddling at first and then thrashing for her life, wondering how mad and deranged she must be to not only abandon her pack and family but to swim in such awful conditions. The salty body of water seemed to be trying to squeeze itself into her lungs, the salt drying up her throat and her muscles searing. She had recently taken a drink but already needed another as the water continued to splash into her mouth and burn her tongue. Tears as salty as the sea welled up in her fire-hued orbs, her eyes burning along with the rest of her minuscule frame as quizzacious saltwater splashed into them as well.
Panting breathlessly, Tempest's soaked paws dripped onto land after what seemed like an eternity. She shivered and convulsed, the pain and shock worse than when she had made the tantalising descent from the clifftop. Coughing up what seemed like an entire gallon of water, Tempest looked around anemically. That was it. She could not go back. She would not go back. She could not experience that again. She had betrayed her pack once and for all when it needed her most. A lone tear trickled down her broken façade as she contemplated what had just happened.
