The young male had only been to this place several times before. The first time he ever came was during his very first trip outside the den when he had snuck off and found the breathtaking sight but unfortunately, he was found and brought back to his mother before he could really do any exploring. He had tried to resist the older wolf but of course was unable to at the time. Now, however, that he was old enough to explore on his own, he found himself wandering back to same spot over and over again, always looking up at it with amazement in his eyes.
The water was falling steadily and, his sense of adventure taking over, he started heading up the trail that lead to the top. It was mid-afternoon by then and the sun shone through the trees from above, casting long dark shadows onto the ground. There was a gentle breeze rustling through the leaves and Croix couldn't help but shake in excitement. He knew that with the coming of winter, he would only be able to this a couple more times before the water got too cold. As he neared the top of the path, his pace quickened until he finally turned the corner and was standing at the top of the falls.
As he moved to the edge of the water he looked down at the still pool with a mischievous grin. The view from the top was amazing to the wolf as it seemed as if he was taller than the towering trees above. Finally, he couldn't wait any longer and he trotted back a few feet before running forward. As he reached the edge, he jumped out and tucked his legs up into his chest. For a minute, the falling sensation scared him but as soon as he landed in the pool of water, creating a large splash, his sense of adventure returned and he was left grinning from ear to ear.
Swimming back to the edge of the pool, he climbed out and shook himself off. However, he was far from being done with having fun. Instead, he made his way back up the steep trail to the top and prepared himself to jump again. Though this time, instead of going straight to jumping, he barked a couple of times and waited. He didn't want to alert the whole pack to his antics like howling was sure to do but, if anyone was close enough to hear his bark, he would love someone to join in his fun.
