Taught to fight early (0-1 year)- Valkea was the largest pup out of Rakasha and Tine's first litter of four after they arrived at Anikira. She was so large, that her parents thought that she was a male until the rolled her onto her back. After her came two males and a female. However, hours after birth, the other female (also the runt) died. Valkea's two younger brothers, Orin and Galear, envied their larger sister because of both her large size and the attention that she got from their father and the alpha of their small tribal pack in Acerbus, Tine.
As soon as the pups could walk, Tine began to teach them battle moves. Valkea and Orin eagerly paid attention and learned quickly while Galear often zoned out and was a clumsy fighter as a result. Because of this, poor Galear was verbally and sometimes physically abused by his siblings and Tine. Eventually, Galear got fed up with his ill treatment and ran off in the middle of a cold starless night. The remaining siblings and their father didn't bother chasing him down and punishing him, as they figured that his own stupidity and lack of skill would get the job done for them.
The breaking point, expectations, and the renaming (1 year)- When the next birthing season rolled around, Valkea and Orin had a new brother, Walig and three new sisters; Riu, Sheba, and Kay.
As the younger siblings developed, so did their traits and strengths. It was clear that Walig idolized his older sister and detested his older brother. His first word was "Valkea" and he followed her everywhere from the moment he could walk. Riu and Sheba were indifferent to their older siblings, while Kay developed an unhealthy obsession with Orin. Orin used this obsession to his advantage, often asking the sickly runt with a gimpy hind leg to go run undesirable errands around the camp, fetch them food, and ordering her to groom his coat and Valkea's. If she missed a spot, the older siblings would promptly go roll around in some mud, sand, or animal poop and have her start all over again. They laughed, as their undersized, spineless, naive sister was happy to serve them.
On a cloudy winter day, a small group of hungry, desperate, nomadic wolves of mixed lineage invaded the camp. Their goal was to kill, capture, and steal whatever they could find. The tribe wolves chased the invaders out, but the victory came with a heavy cost. Raksha was brutally murdered while defending her pups, Riu and two other young ones were taken, the camp laid in ruins, the food and medicine stockpiles were emptied, and a quarter of the tribe was either dead or dying; including the Herbalist. This and the events to come would have a huge psychological impact on Tine's two eldest pups.
After Rakasha's murder, Riu's kidnapping, and the slaughter that went on, Tine became super religious. He began to tell his pups that the weak, impure, and the ugly were to be killed and left to rot. Only the strong, purebred, and the beautiful should be allowed to live and pass their superior genes on to the next generation. Loners were not to be trusted; as they were unpredictable. Tine had told the pups that those who showed positive emotions were weak and that using force was the right way to get whatever you wanted.
The eldest were told time and time again that they were deities incarnate and that they had the right to do whatever they wanted when and to whoever they wanted without being stopped, and that their younger siblings were to serve them without question. Sheba, who had always been defiant and stubborn, protested to this, and was immediately killed by Tine as an example for his eldest pups on what to do if they were defied. Kay, who was forced to watch the whole thing, fell silent; thus becoming a selective mute.
Tine then renamed his eldest pups. Valkea became Talaeub; the tribe goddess of seduction, manipulation, passion, and beauty. Orin became Tadmir; the god of destruction, plague, war, and power. After the pups' renaming, he demanded that the surviving fraction of the tribe were to address his pups as Talaeub and Tadmir. If they refused, they were killed; that became the fate of another fourth of the tribe, who knew that their once honorable and just chieftain had gone insane. The remaining half obeyed more so out of fear than loyalty. Kay was later renamed Khadim after the tribe's word for the slaves of the deities, and Walig was renamed Makhlas; meaning 'loyal one'.
The pups were to be addressed as these names only within the tribe; not doing so was considered a minor offense and the punishment was being branded by having an ear bitten off before being exiled. Failure to address the pups as their new names withing the tribe was considered a major offense and the offender was publicly executed by being drawn and quartered (minus the hanging part for obvious reasons).
Tine and his eldest pups ruled with an iron fist that was gripped tightly around the small tribe. Its members lived in constant fear and stress.
Blood spilled, disease, and death (1-2 years)- As time went on, Tine's public appearances became less and less. The times he did appear, the amount of white that had emerged on his muzzle and around his eyes portrayed his age if his cataracts and arthritis didn't already do so. It was around this time that the once strong, healthy, powerful chieftain fell ill.
All it took was a matter of days for the disease to eat away at the male's flesh. In no time at all, he went from a toned male with sleek fur to a bag of old bones with skin and dull fur that fell out in clumps stretched tightly over them. As the illness became worse and worse, the male summoned his eldest pups to him. He told them; more specifically, his firstborn, to kill him with a bite to the neck and a jerk of the head. Valkea had then ended his life in the method that he had told her to.
With their leader gone, the tribe fell into chaos. Fights between males over who would take Tine's place broke out frequently. Some of the tribe members fled to avoid death and Walig was among them. As much as he hated to abandon his idol, he felt pressured by some of those members who wished to leave to come with them, and he felt like he'd get in trouble is he didn't. Once the older siblings found out, they vowed to make him, as well as those who went with him, pay for betraying the tribe during its time of need...once they found them of course.
That winter was a particularly harsh and unforgiving one, as disease and hunger wreaked havoc within the tribe's dwindling numbers. Death was a daily event; claiming at least three wolves a day. Pretty soon, the once large tribe was down to six remaining wolves; Tine's three remaining pups, a pregnant female and her mate, and a young male by the name of Malik. The pregnant female's mate was taken by the illness in no time and she fled into the woods out of devastation, fear, and grief. Now, that left the three siblings and Malik.
A larger pack takes over the tribe's lands (2 years)- It wasn't long before a large, powerful pack gained control over the remaining tribe wolves' homeland. Valkea and Orin weren't too happy about it. But Malik was happy to finally have someone to look up to and depend on to lead him, and willingly joined this new pack. Orin joined, reluctantly and forced Kay to come with him. Valkea left, unwilling to answer to anyone that was higher than herself.
Currently (2+ years)- She had heard that her homeland had been taken over by yet another pack. A pack, she heard, of power and greed. Seeing potential in this pack, Valkea has reentered her homeland, determined to seek out this pack's alpha to accept her request to join.
Personality:
Vain- She believes that she is the best looking wolf out there. She makes the effort to walk around mud and stay out of water. If a speck of dust gets on her well-groomed coat, she'll throw a fit and feverishly groom herself until she is once again clean.
Pyromaniac- Valkea developed her odd fascination with fire after watching a lighting triggered wildfire wreak havoc from a ridge that she stood on.
Flirty- And she not subtle about it, either. She knows how to use her words and body to get what she wants.
Loves to feel/cause pain/sadistic- Inflicting pain gives the she-wolf a sense of power and control. It also serves as a way to release anger and disappointment. Feeling pain gives her a rush similar to an athlete's high.
Lazy- She is so used to having everything done for her and will whine, complain, and protest if she's told to do something that she doesn't want to do.
Religious- Her overly religious dad told her time and time again that she was the incarnation of Talaeub; the pack's goddess of seduction, manipulation, passion, and beauty. Once a season on the night of a Full Moon, she will make a ritual sacrifice to Tadmir (aka. Orin), her brother; the god of destruction, plague, war, and power. Her materials include some lava rocks, dead plants, a drop or two of her own blood, and the freshly killed carcass of a coyote or fox.
Snarky/sarcastic- Valkea is the queen of sarcasm and nasty retorts. She has a stinging remark for everything and anything that is thrown at her.
Blunt/rude/offensive/realist/judgemental- She has no filter and has been known to swear like a sailor. She believes that sugarcoating is a way for moms to make the world perfect and safe for their pups. The world isn't perfect and she will constantly remind you that you're not living in a dream or fairy tale. There's no happily ever after. She is also quick to look over a wolf and call them out on their physical or mental flaws.
Selfish- If you ask her to share, she'll give you a sarcastic laugh and tell you to get your own stuff. She sees sharing as a sign of weakness.
Greedy- She wants everything for herself. Food, water, you name it. Other wolves are not exempt from this list.
Spoiled- Being the firstborn of an alpha and being given a cushy, pampered lifestyle, Valk is used to getting whatever she wants when she wants it.
Purist- She holds purebred, beautiful wolves above everything else. She hopes to create a world where the pure of blood and appearance thrive without coexisting with the inferior of blood and appearance. Once can say that she's bent on committing genocide.
