Changes have become too severe in Anikira, and the wolves have been temporarily relocated to the Anikiran Southern Isles. Things have grown dire and unlivable on the mainland; it was time for outside intervention. Please be sure to review the full update on the staff board for more information!
The current season is fall in the Southern Isles. Due to their proximity to the equator, the region is still warm. There is currently no breeding and no birthing amongst the wolves

The scent of something distinctly rabbit hit the back of Tempest's throat, but just as she was about to follow the pungent trail, Erastor seemed to pick it up and began to hunt the small mammal. Not wanting to disturb him or interfere, the smallest wolf there decided to not bother with the rabbit and instead made conversation with the foreigner—well, not a foreigner any more. Now he was a resident of Anikira just like Tempest.
"Thank you, Erastor. It's nice to see how kind the wolves of Anikira are," was Ciar's response to Erastor giving the smaller male food. It felt terrible to tell him, but it was necessary.
"Indeed, I know some very kind wolves on this island," Tempest began softly, so as to not frighten her new friend. She then continued, "However, some are not so nice. I know a pack called Kairos... They took away my home and now I am a vagabond, wandering aimlessly. It suits me, yes, but that does not make taking an innocent wolf's home any better. It is not only Kairos. We have just as much diversity as I would assume that your homelands have, with lovely, noble spirits and the more sinister ones. Do be careful and don't trust blindly, Ciar."
The words seemed rather wise, especially for Tempest's age and with the way that she had worded them. Her curiosity and yearning for knowledge had gained her some information that might have been restricted from most young wolves, but it had been granted to the silver fae from her active pursuit of learning.
It was then that Ciar posed an enquiry about packs of Anikira—this was not Tempest's strong suit, but considering that Erastor was relatively new to the island as well, she would probably be the most informed out of the pair of them. "Well, as I said before, there's Kairos, but I would avoid them at all costs. They cause nothing but trouble." Tempest tried to be unbiased, but it was hard when they had ripped her away from Athena, the last remaining connection to the mother that seemed to have left her body behind, the body taken by some crazed spirit. "Then there's Valyn... If you go there, then mention nothing about me. I could not face the... The shame, I guess. Anyway, there's also Airila and Ultoris which I do not know much about. And I think that that's it... There might be more—those are all that I have heard of."
Was Ciar looking to join a pack? Kairos was brutal and Tempest did not want to refer a new member to them at all, and Valyn was female-dominated—not the best place for a male like Ciar. She only knew the names of Airila and Ultoris, so that did not help much if Ciar wanted to know of them.
"Just a fair warning... Valyn, the only one other than Kairos that I know anything about, is dominated by females. If you're looking to join a pack, then Airila or Ultoris might be something to look into since they are probably more accepting towards males like yourself. Males are treated like Omegas in Valyn, and obviously Kairos is not the best place to be." Words: 587 Muse: Good Tags:ErastorCiar Notes: I said tomorrow but I managed to squeeze one more reply in!
Well unfortunately, it was unlikely that Ciar would find himself pampered by these two for long. They were Loners, after all, and while Erastor was both decent and previously a pack wolf, the rabbit was his way of paying a courtesy back that was delivered to him previously. He could not be expected to keep that up, save for if he had some other personal reason to, or if he were to regain pack obligations. It was the way of things, and on that matter he was most definitely a traditionalist. You can't cheat the system for very long, if at all. So saying, he nodded at Ciar's thanks, but also said...
"They're not all that way, so don't make a poor assumption of things because of me."
It was fair warning. You can't let someone accidentally bother the wrong wolf and get his face chomped. It's just not right. Tempest reinforced his point with some of the information he'd given Erastor earlier. Her story was a cautionary tale of who to trust and who not to trust, very clearly, althought she might've been a little biased. At the gesture from Ciar of offering some of the rabbit, Erastor declined with a shake of his head. He wouldn't just go and eat somebody else's rabbit, not without good reason, anyhow. A kill that he offered freely was hardly his to take a bite out of, now wasn't it? In any case, the brownish wolf kind of looked off to the side when Ciar asked about other packs.
"I...don't really know enough to say, myself, I'm afraid. Haven't been here that long. I'm still sort of recovering from the journey...and other things."
Of the two of them, Tempest would know more about things. She had been born here and she had been a pack member as well. It was just that her view of things was a bit dark and her range of knowledge was limited to those involved in her personal life, and apparently a couple more than that. The more she spoke of Kalros, though, the more Erastor had to wonder how they remained stable and intact as a group.
"Tempest, I have to ask: Kalros is very aggressive and attacks others alot, right? Where I'm from, when the surrounding wolves have had enough of someone bringing harm to their packs and interfering with their lives, they go and tear them apart. Packs leave other territories alone so they can live their lives the way that they want. How can such trouble-makers exist without other packs ravaging them in he night?"
It was probably due to the fact that he was not from around here and that his ways differed from others, or even that Tempest exaggerated their acts somewhat and that the other packs hadn't been bothered enough to deal with them in a final sort of way. It was something he had to wonder, though. He had to find out at some point just what sort of packs they were dealing with, even if he went to their territories himself to find the answers.

In reply to Ciar's comment on Anikira's wolves, Erastor essentially repeated Tempest's words, giving the Maned dominant the same message. Then in reply to the foreigner's question about packs, Erastor stated that he did not know much about packs, as Tempest had predicted. The multihued Apennine male also made a comment about other things—what other things could there be? Erastor had already talked about these cruel humans and freakish dogs—could things really get more bizarre and complex? But despite her curiosity, the Tundra dominant female restrained herself from enquiring further; perhaps he would not be very comfortable in sharing.
Just as the intrigue became too much, just as Tempest desperately wanted to learn more about something, she turned to Ciar to ask him more about his past when he spoke, announcing his abrupt departure.
"Thank you for the information, Tempest and Erastor. You have been very helpful, and I'm sorry that our meeting was brief. I have something to do now with what you've told me. If you ever need me then go south to those lands where Valeria's relatives are supposed to be, for that is my next stop."
"Kamari? But..." It was too late, though. Ciar had already turned away, bounding southwards. There was nothing that Tempest could do to change it. That was strange. Shrugging it off, the mixed breed looked over to Erastor who had begun to speak.
"Tempest, I have to ask: Kairos is very aggressive and attacks others a lot, right? Where I'm from, when the surrounding wolves have had enough of someone bringing harm to their packs and interfering with their lives, they go and tear them apart. Packs leave other territories alone so they can live their lives the way that they want. How can such trouble-makers exist without other packs ravaging them in the night?" was the other loner's question.
Tempest paused, not knowing an awful lot about the barbaric pack apart from what she had seen and heard from her time in Valyn. "I don't think that they attack others a lot. They took Ina'mos, which was unclaimed. Vor'asa too. Then they took Acerbus which Descai owned; Descai was dawdling and I think that Kairos only took it so that the land didn't go to waste. Then Kal'dyne, where I grew up and where Valyn resides—or, at least, resided, perhaps. I don't know the outcome of what happened. Valyn was in ruins almost when Kairos came over, distant from each other and not acting like the family that a pack should be. I think that those lands are as far as the Kairos empire goes, so I guess that they don't want land to go to waste if the packs living there don't rise to power like themselves. Either that or they have a vendetta against Valeria and her family." The last sentence was added with a slightly humorous lilt, although Tempest did not find it funny.
"They have a lot of wolves, I know that. I think that the high-ranking males breed with all of the females so lots of litters of giants are born—the high-ranking males are very large, you see... The males are all trained to be warriors—the females who are of a warrior build too. I think that most packs would fear them as well as it not being their business since Kairos has only taken Descai and Valyn territory—well, as far as I'm concerned. I dearly hope that no other packs have suffered their wrath." Words: 641 Muse: Decent Tags:Erastor Notes: Ciar has left for Kamari and Ember's given me permission to powerplay him leaving ^^
Ciar left them, rather quickly. It was good to see that a new arrival such as him had some sort of plan of action to undertake so soon, but...Erastor felt that there was a certain passiveness about the wolf that left him open and vulnerable. Erastor hoped that he would be well, but had a certain uneasiness in his gut regarding that wolf's future. It was just an instinct. He couldn't exactly place where it came from or its full meaning. Tempest was also concerned. Erastor could see that she didn't approve of his intent to go south. There was nothing they could do about that, though.
Well...neverminding that for now, the brownish wolf focused on the matter at hand, namely the one he addressed about the wolves of Kalros. Tempest explained that - essentially - they had it pretty easy to begin with. Said wolves were largely uncontested for three territories and were simply making use of it, rather than not. It made sense, but it was irresponsible. Other packs, it seemed, were unwilling to destroy the danger tha this pack represented. At least...that is what Tempest's side of it seemed to convey. They were afraid or just didn't care. This was terrible. True, he - a loner - had no right as of yet to dictate policy, but the trouble wouldn't simply go away!
If all of Anikira ended up in control by the wolves of Kalros, it might never recover, and that wonderful feeling of 'paradise' it had would be gone. Was it his problem, though? He was new here. He was looking for one wolf. Perhaps... This place was as good as any to make his home, thought it may never BE home without Rain... Right now, Tempest would see Erastor sitting in thought, his eyes cast down at the ice and snow, looking at nothing. He would have been like that for a short while, consiering things. Finally, he rose his head to meet the eyes of the white wolf and spoke.
"I believe a pack like Kalros will destroy the good of this place, even if the land itself does not suffer. Anikira is a legend, a hope in the minds of wolves that guarantees a place of refuge from the world. If Kalros is not stopped, they may dominate the island forever. We are not just teeth and claws made to kill things. If that is all they do, then...they're no better than humans. I don't know what I can do about this, but I won't ignore the problem and hope it dies off. Of that much, I am certain."
He had gotten a bit angry and grim there, ears perked and fur rising a bit when he spoke of Kalros, but now he was calming down a bit and getting up to look at the icy place.
"But that is for later. A new land, quite literally sprouted from the water itself, beacons our attention. Shall we not look into it?"
At this time, Erastor is 4-Year-Old Male Apennine Wolf.

In an effort to provide the least restrictve roleplaying environment available, Anikira and their staff are looking to move to the Proboards paid forums. This forum would allow unlimited writing freedom to members, as well as an ad-free environment and our ability to customize the forum and its ratings/content however we choose! In order to do so, we will require your help! There is a monthly cost associated with this service, and any and all donations toward this goal are appreciated. Please use the PayPal link below for all donations for Anikira maintenance and moving costs. We look forward to a roleplaying environment where the sky is the limit!
Please note the donation page is listed under Uru's name as it cannot be listed otherwise without a business account. All funds associated with this PayPal account will be used directly for the maintenance and costs of Anikira, and hopefully soon anikira.com as our roleplaying forum.
This untraditional coupling is one of the truly loving matches in Anikira. Although they are members of two different species, Calantha and Rikez have overcome the differences and rose above, finding love in the most pure of ways. And from this pairing, a litter born of two loving parents was conceived. These little boys and girls will have the great honor of being raised by two parents that support each other, while many of the offspring in Anikira have not had such a benefit. The pair are truly fitting of one another; both kind-hearted and generally good individuals.
