Changes have become too severe in Anikira, and the wolves have been temporarily relocated to the Anikiran Southern Isles. Things have grown dire and unlivable on the mainland; it was time for outside intervention. Please be sure to review the full update on the staff board for more information!
The current season is fall in the Southern Isles. Due to their proximity to the equator, the region is still warm. There is currently no breeding and no birthing amongst the wolves
It was as if she was trapped somewhere between waking and dreaming.
The last few days had been a blur of realizations and voices, some soothing, some not. Messoria had drifted through it as if in a haze, her body light but her mind frighteningly heavy, as if the weight of the world had suddenly and irrevocably fallen upon her delicate shoulders. She could remember the night that Goliath had come to her, his gargantuan size a comfort, the feel of his fur against hers like water for the thirsty. But despite the peace that he had brought her soul, his words had effectively shattered her very existence, leaving her stripped and barren and alone. He was leaving. Even now, Messoria could remember the way his pale blue eyes had glistened, the scent of him that had once lulled her to sleep but that now haunted her, waking her from nightmares with the delusion that he was still there beside her...when in reality, he was long gone. It always took her precious moments to realize this, and when she did, her heart shattered all over again.
She could have gone with him. Datura had certainly agreed readily, and a part of Messoria had been tempted to flee as well, to disappear into the ocean with the only brute who had ever stolen the delicate pieces of her heart. She would even deal with the quiet disdain of the previous Matriarch, she’d thought, if it meant sticking firmly beside Goliath where she rightfully belonged. But…she had not. In the moments before she’d spoken, the night air cold and frigid, puffing out before her muzzle in small clouds, images had flashed before her eyes. Visions of Hyperion and Croix, who’d departed for the agoge, promises to make her proud ringing in her auds. Of Fawn, who was so small, so delicate, and yet somehow so very fierce, much like her mother – and whom had been left behind in the wake of her gigantic sisters. Nimue. Morrigan. Though they were gone from Ina’mos, they were not gone from her mind, her heart. And as much as her very nerves had seemed to scream for her to follow in the footsteps of her beloved mate, she had not. She had stayed.
The look in his eyes as she'd whispered that she would not follow him haunted her still, wedging its way into her heart and shredding her to pieces when she least expected it. There were days where she woke restless and aching, amber eyes flashing with misery as she curled away from the light peeking into the caverns, remembering every tender moment she’d ever spent with Goliath, every promise of devotion and love. And then, gradually, she began to venture from the caverns, gaining her composure as Typhon effectively ruled Kairos in his father’s wake. But even then, it was as if the island was foreign to her. The shores, the swamp, the very trees that had once been so familiar now seemed strange and alien, barren of the things that she had once loved. And there were moments when it hit her all at once, the pain, stealing the breath from her lungs and leaving her vulnerable and weak. But it was the days that she found happiness that were the worst, for it was as if Messoria could not be joyful without suddenly remembering as she was laughing or smiling, and the mirth would be wiped from her features as if it had never belonged.
She was trapped within a waking vision, and the world felt as if it were not quite right. Everywhere she went, the feeling dogged her, as if things were real and yet not. And while her promotion to Matriarch of Kairos had left her with a purpose, a meaning, it had not fully burned the stinging from her bones. Even now, as the other femmes of Kairos began to sport bulging bellies and bursting pride, Messoria’s own womb was barren. When she should have been reclining in the caverns, watching as her stomach rounded with the promise of Goliath’s heirs once more, she was instead empty and desolate, her eyes dreamy in a way that was entirely different from those of the expectant mothers. But still, she would not fail at being Matriarch; when the time came, she would visit each and every new mother, ignoring the longing and the cutting pain within her heart, offering only careful consideration and joy.
Though there were times when she thought she still heard his voice in her ears, or saw a flashing of him through the trees, she’d long ago learned that it was only her deceitful mind. She’d once told herself that she would not give herself away, would not allow herself to be hurt, but she had lied. And now Messoria was not entirely sure who she was, though she knew that in time, she would figure it out.
But for now, Messoria found herself in a place that was not quite true and not quite false, her amber eyes flashing with concealed confusion as she sat upon the sands, her gaze tracing the place where her beloved had last disappeared into the depths of the ocean. Everything was surreal – and yet, in a way, all too real.

Four years | Eastern Timber x Mexican | Kairos Matriarch
The grainy feel of the sand beneath her paws was all too familiar as she moved forward. There was an air of sadness surrounding Ina'mos however and Lichen had been morbidly shocked when she had heard the news. The great Emperor was gone, taking the Matriarch with him. It had felt like a blow, but not one nearly as massive as her best friend would be experiencing. Lichen supposed she couldn't have returned to Kairos at a better time. After having no luck of tracking down Titan and realizing that her mother and the Avalicks were long gone Lichen had made a huge decision. She had decided to return to Kairos to live out her days and even if she did not have a mate by her side she knew that she would have one wolf to return to.. Messoria. There hadn't been a day that passed where Lichen did not worry or wonder about her dearest friend. She had become such a prominent part of her life and would not be so easy to forget, in fact Lichen would never forget the familiar ebony face with the striking amber eyes. Messoria was tiny but fierce and it was that initial fierceness that had caused the two to bond. They were very alike in many ways, but different all the same. She was the yin to her yang and they balanced one another out. So it was no surprise that she would be the first wolf that Lichen would seek out upon her return to the mighty island. Her paws followed her nose as she made her way towards the beach, for that was the place that Messoria's scent was most prominent. She had heard of her promotion to Matriarch now that Typhon had taken the reins but congratulations could always be given later. Now would be a time of consoling.
Lichen had never wished the amount of pain she had experienced when Titan left onto anyone else. She had told Messoria many times that she never wanted anyone to suffer like she did and Messoria had been there to console her. My how the tables have turned now. Now Messoria was experiencing the same pain, the same loss that she herself had experienced. She would be faced with raising her children on her own, and she would be faced with the realization that her womb would be barren this breeding season. But she was not alone in this time- Lichen would be with her every step of the way. It was with this new found determination that Lichen moved forward at a quicker pace, until finally the shape of her heartbroken friend came into view. She was sitting, her eyes facing the ocean so she would not see her coming. Lichen slowed her pace then, wary at first as she was unsure on how Messoria would react to her arrival. Messoria. Her vocals were soft, her bell-like tones however loud enough that Messoria would be able to hear her easily. She inched forward one baby step at a time, her bright green eyes trained onto Messy's face. Her tail wagged for a fraction of a second before she suddenly bound forward; she did not care if Messoria attacked her she would gladly take every single blow she was just happy to see her! Lichen's body collided with Messoria and she tumbled over top of her. Her tongue snaked it's way out to lick her underneath her muzzle and she gently tugged on one of her aud's before releasing her. Her eyes shone with outright love toward the femme and finally she relaxed herself as she laid in the sand alongside her. I've missed you. She spoke then, her heart racing in her chest as she waited for her to speak.

She was torn from her thoughts suddenly, almost violently, by the voice. The roaring of the waves, wrathful and relentless in the face of an approaching storm, had drowned out the sound of another approaching, effectively leaving Messoria unprepared as she turned, amber eyes flitting across the sand until they came to rest upon an ivory form. For a long moment, Messoria did not recognize the she-wolf who crept so slowly towards her. Her mind was sluggish, still reeling from the weight of her thoughts, and without thinking her lips twitched upwards, showing a flash of ivory teeth. But then suddenly it hit her – the familiar scent, the clear voice, the vivid emerald eyes. At the same moment the white femme leapt forward, colliding with Messoria, sending her flopping to the sand in a blur of ebony-and-ivory as the she-wolf licked her, tugging at her ears with joy. And then Messoria laughed, the sound seeming foreign to her own ears as at last she was spared from the onslaught, rolling onto her stomach to compose herself.
”Lichen.” It had been so long since she’d seen her friend; the huntress had disappeared many moons ago, leaving Messoria baffled and slightly hurt. But now…now she was back. For so long it had seemed as if the world had been taking and taking, leaving her breathless with each loss; Morrigan, Nimue, Goliath. And in a way her sons as they’d made the swim to Vor’asa, for though they would return, they would be changed. But at last the world was giving back, seeming to have deposited Lichen on the shores of Ina’mos just when Messoria needed her most. ”I’ve missed you, as well.” The words were a quiet understatement, but Messoria knew that Lichen would understand.
”Much has changed since you’ve been gone.” Fleeting her gaze returned to the waves, listless, as if she expected to see Goliath rising from them as swiftly and suddenly as he’d gone. Foolish girl. Turning away from the waters once more, she tilted her head as she observed Lichen, her eyes roaming across the femme’s figure. ”It seems as if so much time has passed, but you look well. Your children will be departing for the agoge very soon.” Here she paused, remembering suddenly that Lichen likely did not know of her daughter. ”Eve…she left, some time ago. I am not sure where she went, but there is a chance that perhaps she followed Nimue and Morrigan…for they left as well.” A rueful smile spread across her muzzle as she glanced around, her gaze falling across her home, so similar and yet so very different now. And yet there was one positive, at least, which stood before her in the form of her first friend upon Ina’mos. She had griped and complained about her aching bones and swollen belly to Lichen during her first pregnancy. She’d proudly showed off her sons and daughters to her when they’d been born, all the while cooing over Lichen’s own brood. And then they’d raised their young together, each exhausted but proud of what they had achieved. While things may have changed, one thing had not; her friendship with the arctic femme was still alive and strong.
Lichen was completely overjoyed to see her one and only friend. It had been so incredibly lonely without her and when she had come up empty handed when searching for both Titan and her family she had no choice but to return to the ONE wolf she knew would welcome her. Messoria. Of course Lichen felt like a jerk leaving her friend for so long. It wasn't right and it was something that had haunted her. But she knew better then to ask Messoria to come along with her. Messoria's place was here, alongside Goliath, even if she wasn't the Matriarch. But that was just it, things had changed. Goliath had disappeared, taking Datura with him and leaving Messoria behind. It was originally those news that had spurred Lichen to return to Ina'mos as fast as possible. She hadn't expected such horrid situations to occur while she was gone but they had and it simply was not acceptable! She had pushed herself to her very limits and had made it back within three days time. But three days were not quick enough. She inhaled Messoria's scent, clinging to her even when she bared her teeth. She could feel the sadness rippling off of Messoria like waves and all she wanted to do was comfort her. And then suddenly, she heard it. What started as a silent murmur turned into full out giggling. And soon Lichen was laughing along with her! She licked her cheek and pulled back to really get a good look at her. She was gaunt, a bit more gaunt then usual as she had always been quite a bit smaller then Lichen herself. Lichen. I've missed you, as well. Much has changed since you've been gone.
I know. I have heard many things but I was more worried about you. She spoke softly, taking a long look at her friend to really make sure that she was okay. It seems as if so much time has passed, but you look well. Your children will be departing for the agoge very soon. Eve…she left, some time ago. I am not sure where she went, but there is a chance that perhaps she followed Nimue and Morrigan…for they left as well. Her auds flicked back with uncertainty then, Eve had left? Where did she go? The only consolation was the fact that she had went with both Nimue and Morrigan. Well that is news for me but at least she is not by herself.. They will probably get into quite a bit of trouble but they are young..it's what they do right? She asked meanwhile her eyes still stayed trained on Messoria's face. For the moment they were both quiet, and then Lichen broke the silence. How are you doing.. She asked her, waiting for an honest response. She knew Messoria wouldn't lie to her, they had always been nothing but honest with each other and now was not the time to change things in that aspect.

This untraditional coupling is one of the truly loving matches in Anikira. Although they are members of two different species, Calantha and Rikez have overcome the differences and rose above, finding love in the most pure of ways. And from this pairing, a litter born of two loving parents was conceived. These little boys and girls will have the great honor of being raised by two parents that support each other, while many of the offspring in Anikira have not had such a benefit. The pair are truly fitting of one another; both kind-hearted and generally good individuals.
