She was running. Running from danger. There was an inexplicable urgency in her rushed gait, midnight paws galloping at lightning speed. The strangely marked fae needed to get away from home, away from danger, away from the source of her terrible pain. She would no longer have to face her litter's traitorous murderer, to see the haunting eyes of the dead. It was gone now, in the past, somewhere else. No longer would she have to suffer so greatly. This was a new beginning.

Various haphazard scents rushed into Raksha's nose, some faint, and a new, stronger scent, something that reeked of power. These lands were obviously inhabited. Hopefully, the wolves would be friendly. And if they were not? Well, what was she to do?

Although there was nothing pursuing the yellow-eyed femme, she still rapidly pranced forwards, dainty, ebony paws becoming battered and more brutish as small leaks of blood seeped from cuts, dirt and grime wedged between her claws. What she was running to she knew not, but she knew what she was running from. There was no more reason to stay; everyone who she loved was dead, and she had to face the murderer of her beloved every day if she stayed. Why stay then? There was no reason. She had to distance herself as much as possible.

Finally, Raksha's surroundings slowed to a halt, and the she-wolf found her legs doing so too. There were wolf scents trapping her inside; if she tried to leave now then whoever lived here would put up too much of a threat to just ignore, so she ventured further into the strangely smooth tunnel.

Now that she was safe, the now-loner decided that she should relax and clean her wounds. Trembling slightly, a rough pink tongue began to run over and between her bloody toes, coaxing the grit out of them. It moved up her slightly muddied leg until her tongue was stroking her flank, smoothing down ruffled fur. If she remained inconspicuous, Raksha might get away with living here. It was sheltered, and food could be found outside, surely? If others could live here then Raksha could too. Here was her new start that she had been looking for.

[Sabaoth]

The time had come at last for Sabaoth to venture from Ina’mos once more, though this time under vastly different circumstances than previously. Snow had begun to fall upon the mainland, and more than anything it reminded the General that time was ticking by. Soon enough the femmes who had conceived early in the season would give birth, and this in particular was why Sabaoth found himself making the frigid swim to Acerbus. He had not forgotten the demented femme he’d found on his way out of Kamari after Valyn’s defeat; while he’d urged her to take care of herself simply for the sake of the life she may have been carrying, Sabaoth was not sure if she’d been sound enough to take his advice to heart. Still, he could not simply disregard the fact that pups of his blood might have blossomed within her womb, and so it was that he’d found himself slipping away from Ina’mos that morning. He would have to return soon; Odara was pregnant, and after his tense talk with Roka, Sabaoth had not been keen to leave either of his mates – or his pups birthed By Roka, who grew so much with each passing day.

Acerbus was much as he remembered it, charred and desolate. The last time the monstrous brute had stepped foot upon the territory had been when he’d encountered the insolent intruder and allowed his temper to get the better of him. It seemed like years ago, not months, with everything that had happened since. It reeked of Kairos still, though that did not stop the General from halting here and there to refresh the scent markers. It was during one of these occasions, as he was passing the entrance to the underground tunnels, that a different scent reached him. It was foreign and unquestionably female, and he paused, tilting his head to the side. For a lone femme to be in claimed territory during her season – and especially Kairos territory – was foolish. A growl rumbled in his chest as he turned towards the entrance to the mines, following the scent there. He had never been fond of caves or caverns due to his size, but now he did not complain as he ducked inside, pale eyes searching the area as he prowled forward.

It did not take him long to spot her. Her coloration was similar to his own, slightly, and her eyes were a vivid yellow that seemed to shine in the dimness of the cavern. ”Comfortable?” His grating voice echoed, bouncing off of the stone walls as he narrowed his eyes. ”You’ve wandered into claimed territory, girl. This is Kairos’s land.” The scent of her was overwhelming, but he did not move towards her; the irritation that dwelled within him won over all other feelings, even desire, and so it was with a stoic expression that he gazed at her, paws flexing beneath him. ”Explain why you have come here…and why I should let you leave.”

"Comfortable?”

The deep voice jerked Raksha out of her shaky reverie, vivid yellow optics eying a gargantuan brute littered with scars. He carried himself around with a dominant, confident demeanour as if these lands were claimed and owned by him. Or... Was she in pack lands? It was clear that wolves lived here from the scents, but... All of the smells were collected, organised, all strikingly similar and distributed throughout the territory. But she had not seen any wolves when she was running, not heard them, or sensed them in any other way... You were too distracted to sense anyone.

"This is Kairos’ land."

Kairos? Rak had heard of the pack, something about empires and beasts... That could not be good.

"Explain why you have come here… And why I should let you leave.”

At the permission to speak, Rak began to defend herself. She would be polite—it was preferable to escape unscathed, obviously—but she would not go down without a fight should it come to that. Not that she stood a chance against this huge, likely strong and seasoned warrior, though... "Sir—I am terribly sorry for intruding, honestly. I did not mean it—I didn't know that these were claimed lands... I deeply apologise; I was running away from my birth pack for personal reasons and I could not stay, so you might understand if I was distracted... I promise that I'll leave immediately and not enter Kairos territory again, sir, I thank you for understanding..."

The primarily black fae was practically trembling with fear, uncontrollable vibrations racking her body. She shrank up against the smooth cavern wall, thankful for it being there as support before looking up to meekly meet the hulking brute's piercing blue eyes. Shaky breaths were taken, waiting for either reprimanding for rambling on or a stiff dismissal which would be followed by Raksha bolting away. Hopefully, she would be able to leave with her life, at least... Although, it was foolish of her to enter pack territory and maybe she did deserve some punishment for that, Raksha would admit...

[Sabaoth]

Sabaoth listened as the femme seemed to find her voice at last, standing still, his expression stoic. She was apologetic, at least, practically trembling in fear at the sight of him. He could not help but be reminded, not for the first time, of the insolent trespasser he’d found upon Acerbus and ultimately killed. It seemed as if the she-wolf who stood before him was intelligent enough to know better, and yet still, Sabaoth was not in a particularly forgiving mood. He was still on edge after his disagreement with Roka, and as at last the stranger’s voice faded into silence, he shook his head just a fraction.

”Understanding? I suppose you could call it that,” he said at last, his gaze never moving from hers as he took a single step forward. The space around them was small – for him, at least – and his hulking frame took up much of the cavern, half-blocking the fae’s exit. ”However. There are punishments that must be faced for your actions, though they may have been a mistake.” He shrugged his shoulders, his voice briefly falling silent as he appraised her. There was a tenseness in the air, surrounding them, seeming to press upon Sabaoth despise the fact that he was partially the cause. His irritation from the previous days was rising, hardly helped now that he’d found a stranger in Kairos lands.

”I will not ask you to pay with your life, but that does leave us in an interesting predicament.” He stepped forward once more, and again, until his neck was craned, his pale eyes boring into hers as his voice lowered a fraction due to their proximity. It was as if the words that slipped from his muzzle did not belong to him; he did not think about them, did not stop to consider, before they were sliding off of his tongue. ”I suppose I could mar you, but that seems a terrible waste. Also, I’m reluctant to give anyone matching scars.” At this he tilted his head, his own blemishes clearly displayed. While there was a cool smile upon his maw, Sabaoth knew he would not have wished to scar her face for another reason entirely; he had not forgotten the pain of the cougars claws as they’d tore into his flesh. Afterwards, when he’d been bleeding profusely and slashed to ribbons, he’d cursed and sworn that he wouldn’t have wished the feeling upon his worst enemy.

”So,” he mused, pushing his memories away to focus upon the she-wolf who stood practically beneath him, lowering his muzzle until it brushed lightly against one of her ears. ”Where does that leave us, little one? What could you possibly offer me?” Already the suggestion gleamed clear in his gaze, unhidden and brazen as he stood very nearly chest-to-nose with her, waiting for whatever she would say. Then, almost as an afterthought he added, "Perhaps we can start with your name."

With the marred brute's talk of payment came a sudden realisation to the black-and-cream female that she was in heat. He then spoke of 'punishments', chilling the small fae to her very bones, reminding her of how her brother had killed her pups in order to get to the wolf herself. Calm down. He does not know who I love. Nobody will get hurt but me. As the Kairos wolf talked about scars, Rak could not help but stare.

Clawmarks from a time long gone were scattered about his monotone pelt, disturbing the black-and-white dullness with skin-hued testaments to some fight, proof of survival. He had defeated a terrible beast and bore the markings to prove it, and no doubt he was a lot stronger now. Coupled with his size, the far smaller female knew that whatever the male had in mind for Raksha, she would not escape. Cornered, outsized, outskilled... Trespassing on a brutal pack's territory, no less.

"Where does that leave us, little one? What could you possibly offer me?"

The thought that Rak was in heat, fertile with a ready womb surfaced yet again, tail tucking tightly between her legs and thighs squeezing together in fear of what the male was undoubtedly suggesting. Raksha might not stand the best chance, but that did not mean that she would hopelessly give herself up. Although the chance of escaping unscathed was minuscule, it was still ever there, ready for the loner to make use of.

"Perhaps we can start with your name."

A name? What name was Raksha to use? Definitely not her real one. If she gave it then that was something to track her down with once—if—she hopefully escaped. Aden was the first one that came to mind, but that was male. Or... Why not her mother's name?

"M-my name is A-Aasia..." The wavering uncertainty in the femme's voice might have betrayed her lie, but did it even matter what her name was? Black ears pressed to a uniquely marked skull, Raksha hoping that her submissive stance would get her mercy from this brute. She would not fight unless if it came to it, so her teeth and claws remained tucked away, showing no signs of fleeing in case if she could be let free without conflict.

Aasia. He registered the offered name with a single flick of an ear, filing it away for later consideration. He did not know if she was being truthful in her calling – and truly, the General did not care. The stress of his last few days upon Ina’mos still weighed heavily upon him, driving him forwards as he advanced towards the clearly terrified she-wolf. It was an interesting predicament that he found himself in now, and not entirely ideal; a part of him whispered for him to stop, to send the girl packing with a warning, but now he could not imagine backing down.

”Well, Aasia,” he said, his voice echoing despite the softness of it. ”I think that something can be arranged.” The moment the words had left his muzzle, Sabaoth was moving towards her, circling around behind her. To the she-wolf’s credit, she did not relent without a fight, but the feel of her teeth and claws against his flesh only irritated the brute further, making him relentless in his determination. After a moment of dodging her snapping jaws he grabbed her, holding her firmly in place by the scruff of her neck as he mounted her.

She was downright diminutive compared to him, as most fae’s that Sabaoth had encountered tended to be. It wasn’t difficult for him to hold her once he’d settled upon her, and when the ordeal was over he stepped away from her, releasing her from his grasp. For a moment he was silent, taking a moment to catch his breath and gather his wits before moving further from her, standing aside from the entrance. ”Go,” he said, his voice devoid of any telltale emotion as he gestured to the exit with his muzzle. ”And if you know what’s good for you, don’t let me catch you trespassing in Kairos territory again, Aasia.”
