Changes have become too severe in Anikira, and the wolves have been temporarily relocated to the Anikiran Southern Isles. Things have grown dire and unlivable on the mainland; it was time for outside intervention. Please be sure to review the full update on the staff board for more information!
The current season is fall in the Southern Isles. Due to their proximity to the equator, the region is still warm. There is currently no breeding and no birthing amongst the wolves
Wraith was finally becoming accustomed to her new home. The land was beginning to become more familiar and slowly but surely she was acquainting herself with the rest of Ultoris. She had already met Captain the pack's beta (by accident) but it had ended up working out for her quite well. Although she still had a few unfamiliar faces to associate herself with she still felt like she was doing a somewhat decent job. Today however was a different day entirely. Her stomach had been growling for what felt like hours and what better way to prove herself to her father then to bring food back for the pack? She made her way away from the dens only to alter her path and head towards the caverns. The scent of stalagmites was strong in the air around her and it was then that she knew that she was on the right path. She had heard about how most of the smaller prey sought shelter through the caverns and although it wasn't the ideal environment Wraith knew that she wouldn't leave here empty handed. The ground was incredibly slick and slimy underfoot, enough to make the female feel awkward but she continued forward. Her nose twitched as she inhaled the musky air around her and then without trying to do so she accidentally kicked a few rocks out in front of her. The pebbles bounced forward but the entire time they clacked and boomed as they bounced, the noises seeming to echo off the walls that surrounded her. She cringed, apparently she was more clumsy then what she had thought!
This time when she moved forward she kept an eye on her paws to be sure that she wouldn't make unnesecary noise. She lifted her paws slowly and carefully and moved only with precise steps. Her golden brown eyes glanced around her before she lowered her body to the ground. She could smell the scent of rabbit up ahead and something else that could have been racoon. Her mouth practically watered at the thought of catching a hare or racoon and her tail wagged for a fraction of a second. She analyzed her surroundings- it was darker here but eventually her eyes would get used to her surroundings. Come out come out wherever you are.. She whispered though even then it sounded like she was screaming. Soon enough a hare darted out from behind the rocks and Wraith bounded forward, her lengthy appendages allowing her to leap across the slimy floor in order to pursue her prey. She would not leave her today unless she had SOMETHING and would be damned if she gave up anytime soon. Her paws slid on the cave floor and she fought to regain balance. Meanwhile the hare seemed to know exactly what it was doing. This is gonna take longer then I thought.. She murmured to herself before resting to catch her breath.

Mythril moved softly through the slime slathered ground, selecting each step with the utmost care. Although to any onlookers they would only see pure grace, a mistake on their part. She held more reasons then just not wishing to tumble on to her face or any other part. It never mattered where she was, Myths steps were always precise, every step chosen unconsciously in order to conceal the limp that hounded her relentlessly. The wide thick snarled furless tissue that dominated her left shoulder was placed there by the claws of an adult grizzly when she was barely a year old. That same bear who had needlessly slaughtered her parents, siblings, the entire pack she had been born to. Upward along her throat it went, missing that smooth sleek visage only to reappear once more where a claw tip had sliced that ear in two. Still she had survived, with the help of unasked for and unwanted aide, she survived. Years of fruitless interactions and constant study had turned her into a reclusive healer. Sought after for her skills but abandoned, scorned, and looked down upon otherwise. It had left her cold and seemingly uncaring. Difficult to approach on the best of days, although Captian was steadily working on bringing her out of her shell. Laurel and Rocket also had befriended the snowy ash dusted female, slowly breaking down the walls that she had steadily built around herself for years.
So what was she doing wandering down in these depths, alone? Hunting, although it was not a meal she sought, instead she explored what platonic life grew down here, and what medicinal purpose it could hold in secret. Even the shells and slime ridden bodies of some insects, crustaceans, or other creatures could be used to tend one ailment or another.
At least, she thought she was alone until the sound of skittering rocks brought that skull up high, blackened nares twitching as she drew in the scent of an unfamiliar wolf. Though it bore the scents of others, including her Captain, telling the femme that it was not an intruder, just an unknown Ultoris member. Not an uncommon factor for the healer since, as stated before, she held an unrelenting habit of avoiding others. Murmured words, muffled though loud echoed around her as the sounds grew briefly frantic. The other hunted.
Hesitating a moment before she allowed her voice to raise, clearing her throat carefully. Her voice when she spoke was rougher from lack of use, but still retained its once velvet sweetness of her innocent youth. "Hello..."
Wraith was engrossed in her hunting escapade- in fact she was so preoccupied that she hadn't even noticed the presence of another within the dark caverns. Her golden brown occuli were focused on the tracks on the cave floor. There were plenty of smaller creatures hidden within the caverns, enough to make their fresh kill pile mounds bigger. Which was Wraith's main concern. She wanted to be versatile. She wasn't just a warrior, she could do plenty of other things also. A lot of wolves looked down on her for her size, but size was hardly the matter in things. Hell she was the possible heir to the Ultoris throne! She had to get SOME respect from her fellow pack members and if they weren't going to give it to her right away she was going to earn it. She stalked forward, her body lowered to the ground as she moved slowly. Her eyes were trained on the form of a raccoon up ahead, her breathing slowed and she practically held her breath. Hello.. Instantly she practically jumped out of her skin and when she did jump she kicked out numerous rocks and pebbles. They clattered and bounced off the floor until tumbling into the small bed of water. Instantly the raccoon scampered off and instantly Wraith was irritated. She turned her gaze on the stranger, her silver coat sticking out like a sore thumb. How did I miss her.. She thought to herself before casually walking forward.
Wraith arched an invisible eye brow at the fellow female as she moved forward and then took a seat in front of her. Hello. Who might you be? Her words were monotone and almost cold sounding, which was only her usual tones. She cocked her head to the side slightly, watching the female with curiosity. I am Wraith. Daughter of Severus. She informed the stranger, though this stranger was hardly a stranger at all. She smelled strongly of Ultoris, perhaps that was why she had not noticed her. But this was a pack member that she had not met yet. Her tail curled around her front paws and she waited, meanwhile her nose twitched as she inhaled the stagnant air. There were plenty of more hunting opportunities but for now she would wait. That would also give them some time to allow the prey to make their way out of their hiding places again.

A brief flash of amusement crossed eyes as pale as the yellowed moon that hung in an endless night sky. The shadowed wolf had nearly kept from her own skin, utterly startled, had she been so focused on the coon that she hadn't heard the obvious tell tale signs of her approach? It wasn't like Myth had tried to keep her presence concealed. With an infinite amount of patience, the snowy scarred female waited for the other to gather herself, though that broken soldier perched atop her skull twisted back to muffle the sound of tumbling rocks the others sudden movements, before returning to its natural upright position.
Mythril studied the other as she moved forward to take a seat before her, nice lines, sound muscles, easy breath. All in all she looked to be in excellent health. Though the silvered mask accented her yellowed eyes even more so against that dark pelt of her. Unique. Still that mew did not open until the other had spoken her piece. Wraith, daughter of the alpha. Chin dipped forward in a slight bow of respect, jaws parting to once more release that seldom used voice. "I am called Mythril, newest Shaman among the Ultoris pack." She withheld any mention of the beta, after all just because she and joined the pack to be close to him, didn't mean anything would come of it. She was a scarred up monstrosity and certainly deserved nothing let alone him. Allowing a faint smile to grace her muzzle before it vanished without a trace. "It is a pleasure, I am sure, to make your acquaintance."
That silently intense gaze drifted away from the youngling to travel away, listening to the slight sound of small claws against the slick stone. "Hunting...?" There was no real change to that cold unemotional tone as she spoke, even when she presented Wraith with the single worded question.
Wraith was a little disappointed with herself for not detecting this female sooner. She needed to hone her skills, how could she ever be a warrior if she couldn't even detect when someone was in the same vicinity as her? I am called Mythril, newest Shaman among the Ultoris pack. It is a pleasure, I am sure, to make your acquaintance. Wraith was pulled out of her thoughts then as she finally focused on Mythril's face. It was then that she really noticed the ghastly scars on her left side, as well as her tattered ear. It made her curious as to what had happened to the female. Surely something horrid had to have caused that! She tried not to stare, knowing that sometimes others could be self conscious about certain things when it came to their appearance. Hunting...? She asked and Wraith couldn't help but chuckle a bit. Well I was trying to hunt but clearly I'm not very good at it. She spoke, her eyes flickering back over to the particular area of the caverns that seemed to hold the most prey. Her mouth watered and her stomach gurgled but she ignored it for the time being. She didn't want to be rude. Wraith knew that a lot of her actions would reflect on her father and of course she didn't want to make him look bad. You said you are the shaman? What do you do?
Wraith wasn't very familiar with the shaman or their duties. She had never been very interested in those kinds of things and her mind had sort of been a one track mind when living in Kairos. She knew in her heart that she wanted to fight and defend her pack despite her tiny stature. She would be starting training with her father shortly, in the meantime however she wanted to try her hand at hunting. But, if that didn't go so well today perhaps Mythril could teach her a few things when it came to this shaman business. Can you teach me? She asked her, for the first time her words showing a bit of curiosity. She wanted to try to be as versatile as possible in case something should happen that would need her to fall back on those skills. What if she needed to heal herself in battle? Of course she wanted to know the tricks of the trade so she could truly be prepared. She leaned back then, avoiding the temptation of asking Mythril what exactly had caused those gruesome scars. For now she was content with finding out what the shaman does, and learning some of those skills if she is willing to share them.

Mythril braced herself unconsciously as it became apparent the younger wolf had finally took in the wolf that sat calmly before her. Captain and Laurel, not to mention Rocket had indicated she should try to break the habit of concealing them from others. She had survived an ordeal that would kill most. Granted she knew it hadn't been entirely under her own power that she'd survived, after all for a time she had willed herself to accept deaths embrace. But the humans had always been there pulling her back from the brink. Mythril fully expected the shadow masked wolf to inquire about the wicked twisted flesh where not a single strand of hair grew. But surprisingly she did not. Instead she focused on the inquiry Myth had issued. A faint barely seen grin crossed her mew as she allowed that seldom used voice to escape its confines. "I am not much good on a hunt when accompanied by others." She would admit ruefully, after all working as a team was nearly a foreign concept to the wolf who had spent the vast majority of her life separated from all creatures.
The conversation shifted smoothly, at least in the anti social femmes opinion. "I tend the injured and sick, either in guiding them to health, or easing their passing. I also tend not only the body, but the soul and heart of those damaged that they may find peace. You can not heal one without the other, least you leave a patient broken." She explained in a gentle, quiet tone. There was a earth to her explanation, a lack of awkwardness that wasn't present when she spoke about any other subject. Healing in all its capacity was her calling, the only thing in this life she was completely comfortable Wil. So when Wraith's next words registered those pale moons widen with surprise. "If you wish, I would be glad to teach you, such knowledge could save a life when a Healer is not close enough to do so." This conversation was familiar since the packs beta, Captain, had made the same request of her.
Wraith could hear all the different sounds echoing around her, between the water trickling and the scuffling of tiny feet on the cave floor along with her own breathing. Her golden brown orbs glanced back to Mythril's face to focus on the female. Those scars threatened to grab her attention but Wraith forced herself to keep eye contact. The last thing she wanted was for this female to get uncomfortable with her, and then she would surely hear it from her father. Severus was the alpha after all and Wraith knew how pissed off he would be if she ruined his respectful reputation. Sometimes her pup like antics tried to break through but she was strong enough to ignore them. I am not much good on a hunt when accompanied by others. I tend the injured and sick, either in guiding them to health, or easing their passing. I also tend not only the body, but the soul and heart of those damaged that they may find peace. You can not heal one without the other, least you leave a patient broken. Wraith sat quietly although there was a look of interest clearly written across her face. She had never really delved into the art of healing but hearing Mythril touch on it made her want to learn it even more. Her auds flicked forward curiously before she spoke. That is pretty remarkable.. Have you always done the art of healing? She asked of her, curious to hear a little bit about her past. Wraith was trying to get to know her new pack members as best as possible and as much as she wanted to HATE being here she couldn't help but start to be content with her new life. She was set to become a warrior as soon as her training was completed and would be able to prove her worth. Her life couldn't get much better then that. Especially with the fact that she wasn't expected to have children, which was the best news she had heard since coming here.
If you wish, I would be glad to teach you, such knowledge could save a life when a Healer is not close enough to do so. Wraith nodded her head, agreeing entirely with her words. It was then that she suddenly blurted out what she had been meaning to ask her this entire time, but it instantly shocked her and embarrassed her when she did so. Did you heal your own wounds? She instantly shut her mouth, embarrassment leaking through her bones. She could feel the heat rising in her face and instantly glanced away, angry with herself for her actions. I apologize. She spoke quietly, feeling more rude then she had ever been to another wolf. Wraith never intentionally tried to be rude to others but when it did happen she felt guilty for doing so. Right now was one of those times and she would definitely be kicking herself in the rear end for this later.

A distant far away look touched those pale yellow moons, as if she was lost within her own mind, remembering something that she hadn't thought on for a long time. "I was born to be a warrior, in a place far different from where we are now. But fate intervened several times throughout my life in irreparable ways. Because of this I had to learn the ways of healing in order to survive." For a moment her own eyes dropped to the twisted exposed flesh of her shoulder, such old scars, yet they were a constant reminder of all she had lost with very little gain. Even now as she sat still she could feel the pain radiating from the inside out as muscles naturally tensed around thick rings of scar tissue. The only way to keep the limb in useable condition was to keep it in motion. That was why the mornings after a night of painful restless sleep was particularly difficult, careful stretches had to be done to loosen the stiffness up, else more permanent damage could be done.
It was soon settled that she would give this young fae the preliminary knowledge of healing. It was something Mythril felt all wolves should have, because a healer might not be right there instantly at an accident or fight, and steps taken swiftly could save a life that otherwise would have been lost.
When Wraith suddenly blurted out a question Mythril flinched visibly, a look of profound sorrow brushed across her visage before that cool distant mask was put in its place. "No, I did not. But I tend to the aftermath daily." Mythril had yet to even tell Captain the story of her past, she did not like remembering anymore then she had to, the failures of her life. It did not matter that she had been young and untrained, she had survived where others had not. The humans had a term for it, survivors remorse, it was something she felt acutely each moment she took a breath. And unfortunately since coming here and joining a pack it was something that kept being brought up. As such she assumed it was merely further punishment by her lost family, ensuring she never forget what she truly wished she could. Maybe she should have disappeared, remained a loner. But to do so meant she likely would never see Captain again, and that thought pierced her heart more swiftly then anything else.

This untraditional coupling is one of the truly loving matches in Anikira. Although they are members of two different species, Calantha and Rikez have overcome the differences and rose above, finding love in the most pure of ways. And from this pairing, a litter born of two loving parents was conceived. These little boys and girls will have the great honor of being raised by two parents that support each other, while many of the offspring in Anikira have not had such a benefit. The pair are truly fitting of one another; both kind-hearted and generally good individuals.
