History:
The story of Balthazar’s parents is no fairytale. No coy flirtations leading to love was involved, no gentle words or whispered promises. Instead there was only two opposing packs, one ruled by dominant femmes, the other full to the brim with giant, fearsome beasts who desired everything that lay in their path. It was to be expected that the packs would clash one day, and so they did, a fierce battle of their beastly alphas leaving Valyn territory in the paws of Kairos as the previous members fled. Left behind was a sole femme with fur the color of snow and eyes like fire; Athena. Once she’d been strong, a valued member of her pack, a healer, but when Balthazar’s father stumbled upon her one fateful morning, she was weak-willed and broken. Sabaoth was the General of Kairos, the product of a fearsome father, and the brother of Kairos’ Emperor. Athena was not willing to carry the garish brute’s young, but alone and half-mad, the small femme had little choice. Alone she remained for nearly a month after the brute had at last left, her swollen belly physical proof of the two pups who would soon take their first breaths…and who would be perhaps just as insane as Athena was.
Balthazar was born one cool winter morning on the sands of Ina’mos where Sabaoth had taken Athena after finding the femme, once more, so close to her time. He was the first to have made his way into the world from his mother’s womb. His sister Cimeries came next, his sole surviving sibling; later Balthazar would learn from his father that were was another pup, one born dead and gnarled, dead from the apparent result of their mother’s attempts to self-abort. Young and motherless, Balthazar and his sister were delivered to one of Sabaoth’s mates, a no-nonsense she-wolf named Roka. As they grew, it would be Roka who Balthazar came to knew as a mother-figure.
Personality:
Balthazar, often referred to as simply Bal, has always known of his conception. A product of violence and plunder forced upon an unwilling vessel, Balthazar has known he was cursed from the start. Unwanted, begotten through the most unfortunate of circumstances, Balthazar has never shied away from himself or who he is. He is hugely unashamed of his nature, and embraces every dark crack and crevice of his twisted mind. Bloodshed drives him as fiercely as it drove his father, although entirely lacking the explosive tendencies of his sire; everything Balthazar does is calculating and planned, executed coolly and with unrelenting carefulness. He knows little of mercy save for the few exceptions where one catches him in a generous mood, however rarely those occurrences might be. While he is capable of putting on a convincing facade, although still entirely wicked, he takes pride in all things sinful and immoral, and much like his father – although far more intense - he finds perverse pleasure in exerting power over others through primarily his wit, although he will use brawn when necessary, and in intimidating them simply because he can. Despite his fiendish disposition, Balthazar still finds that he enjoys the company of others if they are able to stomach his crookedness.
He finds beauty in all things destructive, and he is not necessarily immoral - but rather amoral. He has a grudging respect for those who exert power and enjoy destruction such as he does, though Balthazar is ultimately apathetic of all things, including matters of life and death. While he is far from sane, Balthazar is still mannerly though cool and distant, seemingly almost gentlemanly at times despite the dark inner-workings of his mind. Despite his brawn, he is far from intelligent, with a cunning mind and a general thirst for knowledge often centered upon ethics - what is right and what is wrong, with little to no grey area in-between. In his heart, his sister is the only being in his life who he truly cares for, and whose very whim he would bow before; a cursed pair, in his humble opinion, who could reap havoc upon the world if allowed.
