She knew that she shouldn't technically be leaving Airila territory, especially not now but Cherokee couldn't help it! She couldn't stay in one area cooped up all the time, she needed to feel the wind rushing through her fur, needed to be able to stretch her legs. And truthfully this whole pack thing could be pretty exhausting sometimes. She just wanted some breathing room even though she knew that she could quite possibly be reprimanded for it later. But if she didn't take some time to herself she would go crazy, that she knew for a fact. Her long limbs carried her across the land with ease as she moved into a quick paced jog, her golden brown eyes scanning the terrain. She moved across the rolling hills, putting more space between herself and Airila territory against her better judgement. Cherokee was still young and had a lot to learn, perhaps too much to learn in other's eyes. But she was trying her hardest to get accustomed to this whole pack life ordeal and even though she had been sheltered as a young pup she was learning things quickly. She was also learning how to adapt which made her a bit more bold than usual. She slowed her pace to a walk so she could actually enjoy the scenery. Although there was a thick blanket of snow on the ground it was absolutely beautiful- and her thick pelt helped prevent her from getting cold. However as time wore on she began to grow tired, the cold wearing her down the further she walked. I better find shelter. A storm seemed to be brewing overhead, the air getting colder and the sky growing darker. But thankfully Cherokee spied some hidden caverns up ahead!
She bolted, moving quick enough to make it out of the area before a mixture of snow and rain began to fall from the sky. Soon chunks of ice fell also which made Cherokee retreat further to the back of the cavern she had found. Storms had a tendency of scaring the hell out of her and today was no different. What did I get myself into.. She murmured before lowering her frame to the ground. She was miserable and she was alone, or so she thought. With the cold breeze came an unfamiliar scent and one that was male. Her auds flicked with uncertainty atop her well chiseled skull. She retreated further back and attempted to flatten herself against the nearest wall but with her pure white pelt she would surely stick out like a sore thumb. Listen, I don't want any trouble. She snarled, attempting to sound tougher then what she actually was. Cherokee had never fought anyone before and she imagined she wouldn't be very good at it, hence the reason why she was a gatherer of Airila. She couldn't kill anyone either which was why she wasn't a hunter. Harlot had practically scoffed at her when she discovered that Cherokee had no knowledge of hunting. So it was obvious that she was pretty much screwed in this situation. Her eyes narrowed, waiting for the stranger to finally show his face and determine whether he was a friend or foe.

His first outing since he became a pack member and it storms! Was this some kind of punishment for leaving? As far as he knew he was allowed to go outside of the borders, after all he was a warrior and knowing there were no encroaching threats was part of his job. He liked it more than he thought, he had a purpose and in a odd way a family. Yes he needed to meet more of his pack and all that would come in due time. Right now he needed to patrol and work hard.
As as winter approached and spread the snowy blanket of the season over the island, he couldn't help but wonder how Sydas fared. She never handled cold well and he worried for her well-being. Not that he could do anything about it. It had been over a year since he had seen his sister, but he still couldn't help but worry about her.
Icy drops falling on his head signaled the time to hunker down and stay warm, winter storms were never good to get lost in and what starts out just a few snowflakes easily turned into a whirlwind of sheer white where one couldn't see the nose on their own face. A nearby cavern seemed suitable enough, sufficiently deep to be away from the storms anger should it prove to be turbulent. Burnt orange eyes searched the cavern carefully before he stepped inside, searching for signs of life within. But none were found. Satisfied with his sanctuary however temporary, Kenai curled up and dozed off.
How long he snoozed, he couldn't tell but he was woken up by a snarl that made him instantly raise to his feet with hackles pricked. The frame of the wolf was easily picked out and he focused hard on it as the sleep fled his mind and battle strategy took hold. "Madam, if you mean not to have trouble, starting a conversation with a snarl may not be the best choice. If I have frightened you, you have my sincerest apologies. But I was merely sleeping off the storm. Never would I harm another without just cause." Despite his ready stance, his tones were calm hopefully if she really was just spooked it would soothe her. However if she meant to fight anyway, he wanted to be ready.
He watched carefully, she didn't look like a warrior but he knew well enough there were plenty of wolves that just had an attitude problem. The calm male did his best to avoid them, seeing their need for proving their self worth in such harsh ways as that of spoiled children and he refused to give in to their immaturity. But this girl seemed uncertain of herself, lacking the incredible self confidence of one who needed to prove they were better than most. "Madam, I promise I have honorable intentions towards those I meet and would not harm you. I'll stay far over here until the storm is over then I'll march straight outside, unless you'd rather me brave the weather, then I will leave now." How is it he always found himself in these situations? There were many caves on the island but he had a knack for picking the ones that have terrified or insecure women in them. Not ideal for someone who was naturally awkward around females.
She had been so foolish to leave Airila, she should have stayed where she knew it was safe and now it was too late. The storm was far too harsh to travel in and Cherokee didn't want to take the chance of getting lost. So instead she planted herself in the far recesses of the cave, only to be trapped in here with someone. That someone just happened to be a male and up until this point she hadn't exactly had very many conversations with the opposite sex. In fact the only two males she had spoken to were Arche and Rikez. Granted both of them were her friends now but it certainly was no easy feat. Her auds flicked with uncertainty and she fought the tremors that threatened to wrack her hide. She had never been in this type of situation before and wasn't necessarily enjoying it. That and the suspense was killing her because he was either going to be some serial killer or he was going to be a nice guy- there were never any in-between. Madam, if you mean not to have trouble, starting a conversation with a snarl may not be the best choice. If I have frightened you, you have my sincerest apologies. But I was merely sleeping off the storm. Never would I harm another without just cause. She frowned slightly then and her golden eyes locked onto his frame. He was muscular, quite muscular and..now she felt stupid. He was right, she definitely shouldn't have snarled, not like she was going to do anything aggressive anyways. You're right. I'm sorry.. I'm not usually like this I um just figured if I sounded intimidating I would be intimidating but that obviously backfired. She let out a nervous laugh before glancing away, and now your crashing and burning.
Madam, I promise I have honorable intentions towards those I meet and would not harm you. I'll stay far over here until the storm is over then I'll march straight outside, unless you'd rather me brave the weather, then I will leave now. She arched an invisible eye brow, he would literally leave just like that? It was shocking mostly because she hadn't expected him to have such amazing manners. No no..that won't be necessary. Such a nice guy like you shouldn't be forced to face the elements. She joked quietly, her eyes fleeting to his face and then back to his muscular frame. It was like a switch had been turned on inside of her and oh god...she liked him! How could you like someone you just met?! But Cherokee could not mistake these new feelings for anything other then a crush. She just knew that she felt some type of a way towards the brute, mostly because this whole gentleman act made him very attractive. So perhaps this situation wasn't too bad after all. Maybe she could make the most of things and get to know him better, that wouldn't hurt would it? Just act natural.So..I'm Cherokee. She stated with a small smile on her mouth as she locked gazes with him.

The change in the pretty stranger was so fast, he felt a little bad. She was perhaps just frightened and he lectured her for trying to put on a brave face. Lowering his ears a little in silent apology, Kenai let his fur smooth and posture relax to the point he even sat down in an attempt to look less intimidating. "I can see the desire to be seen as a powerful opponent would be handy for a lady. Not that I feel your gender are in any way inferior, after all dangers lurk around all of us."
Bowing in thanks, he spoke softly, "I admit I'm quite thankful for your permission to remain here." A ghost of a smile curled the edges of his mouth as he contemplated the depressing idea of fighting through the storm over the awkwardness he found himself in. "A lovely name, miss. I am Kenai, Pallaton of Eden. Although it is rather new for me, most of my life has been spent in the manner of a loner." He stopped there and tilted his head, "I promised to leave you in peace and I have yet to do that. Forgive me. I won't bother you anymore."
Quietly he settled in his corner, intent to let the girl have her space so he wouldn't scare, unsettle or anything like that. Honestly he wasn't sure what he should do in the conversation anyway, names were exchanged, what else was there? Ah times like this he missed Sydas the most, she could be friends with anyone, talk about anything. But he was just the struggling failure of the siblings.
He let the silence hang there and started to feel uncomfortable. Maybe he should just leave the cavern, it may be more comfortable out there. But something made him stay put. What was it? He had no idea, maybe it was simply she would be offended if he suddenly left. It wasn't in him to be so rude especially to an attractive young lady. Of course he wouldn't breathe a word of that to her. How stupid would he sound to say she was pretty? She would certainly go back to being on edge with him.
Cherokee was beginning to feel less nervous despite the fact that she was in this cavern with a complete stranger. He just had this nice guy vibe about him which made it really easy for her to trust him. Perhaps this was her age shining through, making her much more naive than usual. It didn't help that she was also in season, something she still was not accustomed to. Perhaps that was why she yearned for his attention and company. Maybe it was just mother nature encouraging her to do so- but she wouldn't know the difference. She just liked the fact that she didn't have to be alone through this storm. Of course she would never openly admit that she was petrified of storms, that would just make her appear even more stupid and weak then what she had already made herself look. I can see the desire to be seen as a powerful opponent would be handy for a lady. Not that I feel your gender are in any way inferior, after all dangers lurk around all of us. I admit I'm quite thankful for your permission to remain here. Cherokee couldn't help but smile at him, it would have been incredibly rude of her if she would have made him leave and besides she was enjoying his company. Apparently appearing powerful isn't handy for me.. My plan didn't even intimidate you one bit.. She chuckled and glanced away for a moment. She couldn't help but feel slightly awkward because she hadn't exactly started a conversation with a strange male before but yet here she was.
A lovely name, miss. I am Kenai, Pallaton of Eden. Although it is rather new for me, most of my life has been spent in the manner of a loner. I promised to leave you in peace and I have yet to do that. Forgive me. I won't bother you anymore. She frowned for a moment, unsure as to why he had ended the conversation so abruptly. She found her paws leading her to follow him even as he retreated. No, please. Your fine.. You said you were a..pallaton? What is that? She asked him curiously before sitting down a few inches from the brute. She cleared her throat for a moment before speaking once again, If you don't want to talk I can respect that..I kind of pushed you into talking to me to begin with.. She glanced away then, feeling uncertain. She felt comfortable near him but perhaps he did not return those same feelings? She was curious whether he would even stay with her now, perhaps he was simply just staying here because it was storming out. Although it was a great possibility Cherokee was hoping that wasn't the case as she was beginning to really like Kenai.

He couldn't help but smirk at her words, he felt like teasing her but wasn't really sure how she would take it. But before he could stop himself, he heard his voice echo in the cavern, "I'll be sure to act appropriately intimidated next time." His voice was light for a moment before returning to his more uncomfortable vibe.
"A Pallaton is a warrior. Please don't think it's because I enjoy the blood and pain that goes with such a title. I became one for Eden because I vowed to protect what I love long ago when my sister and I ventured out together, the pack deserves the best I can offer and this rank was most fitting to my talents." He tilted his head, noting he had yet to ask after her position in life. "What of you, Miss? Your scent speaks of a pack, how do you serve? Do you have a family?"
His body urged to fidget with the proximity of their bodies, usually he would back off further to be more comfortable but he grounded himself to stay out. Perhaps it was due to the season, the scent she emitted was intoxicating and filled his head in a cloud of emotions. But he could suppress it, he has all the years previous why should this be different? But she was so sweet and seemed genuinely interested in speaking with him. It was very kind of her. If Sydas were here she would be busy spouting off her brothers good qualities, she always wanted him to fall in love but he was more inclined to protect the family he had. But he had none now.
Love...was that possible for him? What if he lost her? What if no female desired him ever? He was such a confident wolf except when it came to the opposite sex, then all his confidence crumbled and he second guessed himself so much. But if by some sheer stroke of luck he found some sweet girl who could see passed his fumbling speech and awkward disposition and see who he actually was, he knew for a fact he would give his heart completely. If only....
It was odd, despite the intense cold that blew outside and howled against the walls of the cavern Cherokee couldn't feel a thing. All she could feel was this incredible sense of warmth around her. Perhaps it was because they were both in an enclosed space which created more body heat between them- maybe it was carnal desire making her feel this way. But it was also these feelings blossoming inside her that made her feel like this. When she looked at Kenai she felt good feelings, feelings she had never felt before. There was something about the way he looked at her; it made her feel beautiful. Although part of her yearned to hear him say that, she could see it in the way he looked at her. And that was something that just made her tick. She had never felt wanted by anyone before, not even her own parents, but here in this very moment she felt like someone cared about her. I'll be sure to act appropriately intimidated next time.Well you better.. I'm not gonna go easy on you next time so be warned. She flashed him a dazzling smile before settling back further on her haunches. She stared at him for a moment, taking in the features of his face. He was happy, she could see it in the lines of his face, in the twinkle in his eye. It seemed that he was enjoying their little chat just as much as she was and that made her content. A Pallaton is a warrior. Please don't think it's because I enjoy the blood and pain that goes with such a title. I became one for Eden because I vowed to protect what I love long ago when my sister and I ventured out together, the pack deserves the best I can offer and this rank was most fitting to my talents. You definitely have the build for a warrior.. She spoke giving him a once over before she realized what she had just said. I mean.. Your fit.. And surely capable of protecting those you care about.Smooth move.. Her conscious snapped at her before she glanced away awkwardly- if wolves could blush her cheeks would be bright pink right now.
What of you, Miss? Your scent speaks of a pack, how do you serve? Do you have a family? She was glad that he had ignored her comments for the most part and decided to keep the ball rolling. She didn't want to drag Kenai down with her own awkwardness. I am just a mere gatherer. I bring herbs and what not back to the others. I'm still learning however.. She didn't feel nearly as important as Kenai- she was sure he did a much better job contributing to his pack then what she did with Airila. I left my family awhile back.. The only family I have now is Airila. She smiled softly before inching ever closer to him. I'm going to be honest.. I.. Feel things towards you that I've never felt before.. Then again I'm so awkward and clumsy that I'm sure I'm coming off as weird..but I wanted to say that.. I like you. I think your sweet Kenai. And whoever finds you will be lucky to keep you. She almost was shocked that she had spoken the words. At first she was just thinking them, but then they came flowing from her mouth before she could stop them. But she did not regret them- even if they never met again after tonight she still wanted him to know that she cared about him, and that she would always be thinking of him even when they weren't together.

His heart stopped when she smiled. She was gorgeous to begin with but her smile made the impossible happen and it was...angelic. Clearing his throat, he looked away after staring for probably an inappropriate amount of time and looked at the crevices of the rock in front of him. Normally he remained emotionally detached, well apart from his normal caring nature. She was tugging at him in ways he didn't know even existed within him and yet she probably didn't even know it. Part of him said this wasn't right, love wasn't so easily achieved nor so quickly but the larger portion of him ached to be near her.
Smirking at her sweet compliments, he chose to remain silent since she already seemed to be bashful about it and didn't wish to make her more so. "Gatherers are imperative to a packs function, Miss...uh..You should take pride in what you do, Cherokee." The name sounded sweet as he spoke it, normally he refused to speak a lady's name without the title of Madam or Miss before it. This was a different circumstance to the multi colored wolf.
Then everything changed.
She said she liked him. Words he never heard from a lady. Never thought he would hear. At first he only looked at her in shock, disbelief that he really heard what he thought he did. Scuffing his paws on the ground before he looked into her eyes deeply. Sunset met sunrise, orange to gold, Kenai scooted closer and spoke quietly, "I confess...I have felt...strong feelings towards you as well and frankly I'm unsure of what to do about it. This is new for me..." Now was his turn to be bashful, like admitting such a thing tarnished his masculinity but he didn't really care. "If you don't object, I'd be honored to see if you....should be the one.." This was not how he would have thought this moment would go. He always imagined it being smooth and sweet, not shy and painfully awkward as he spoke his desires. It was in her court now. One word was all he needed.
