The brisk wind danced it's merry way across the snow covered landscape, stirring the loose flakes into a playful flurry that only added more depth to the drift that lay at the base of a pile of boulders. It was as common as the stars in the sky, especially given the wintery season. Still what was unusual was the statue like figure that lay atop those boulders, watching what resided below in complete silence. This was a good land, led by a benevolent alphess. In these lands the lone white figure had remained for a few short weeks, had stayed and thrived. But still the scared one did not belong, despite the friendship she held with the alphess. It was one source of sorrow that filled the slowly thawing walls of the ice wolf's heart. A week or so ago, Mythril had felt the urge to explore, to continue her self education into medicinal herbs though she had never expected the desire would set her on the path she had long ago buried beneath the tundra of her heart. And it was all due to one smokey wolf who had invaded her time, her thoughts, her every breath.
Captain, the beta of another pack. Those snowy white flanks would expand with a deep shuddering breath that was quickly released in a lengthy sigh. Why could she not shake him from her thoughts?!
Slowly that sleek lupine cranium would lift from her paws, while the rest of her form remained unmoving, lounging sphinx like on the tallest boulder amid that particulat pile. How she wished she had the courage to ask the only wolf whose attempt at friendship had been persistent enough for Mythril to have accepted it. Maybe Kiva would know what was wrong with her. But even if the alphess was available and nearby, Myth wouldn't lay her feelings bare, habit would cause the snow and shadowed wolf to withhold what troubled her. And to ask the source of her confusion would only end in embarrassment, and that was hardly dignified.
The clear unblinking gleam of those pale pale brown eyes stared out over the snow covered terrain below unseeing. Lost in the thoughts that crowded her mind. Again she heaved a heavy sigh for the thousandth time this day. Her focus turned inward, for once completely unaware of what surrounded her. One may think that the exposed twisted scars that covered her left shoulder, and neck would be a bother in these chilly tempatures. But the unseemly ridges and dips of rough exposed flesh did not seem to phase the female, who sat motionless. Even the left ear that lay split in two stood complete still in the frozen air of the mountains.
Within her minds eye two paths lay before her, and neither was one she would have considered walking before now. To be part of a pack meant opening one self up to trust, companionship...hurt. Though she would never admit to it, her heart trembled with fear at the very prospect.
