History:
Theona was born to a pair of loners living in the unclaimed lands of Anikira. She was the only surviving puppy in her litter, therefore making it certain to her parents that she would be cherished and loved for eternity. Her parents were blissfully in love, but after only three months of caring for their beloved daughter, Theona's mother died due to complications from the birth. Theona's father took this loss the hardest; she hadn't quite been old enough to understand her mother's death or even take much notice that she was gone forever. Her father was slipping into depression, and although he loved his child endlessly, he knew she deserved better than him.
One morning, an almost four month old Theona found herself waking up alone, her father nowhere to be seen. She panicked and started searching relentlessly for him with no such luck. Soon, she came across an old, wise she-wolf who attempted to calm down the frantic puppy with shouting and cursing. Surprisingly enough, this worked and little Theona shut her whining mouth. The wolfess, named Aretha, told the young female not to worry and that her father had left the puppy in her own care while he went away for a while. In truth, Aretha had just witnessed the entire scene where the male had frantically abandoned his daughter and ran off to the North.
Aretha raised Theona, using a combination of tough love and nurturing. She had a rough past that hardened her and taught her that nothing should come easy to anyone, so she translated this into a system with Theona. She would provide food and protection for the young Tundra wolf and in return Theona had to be taught life skills and lessons which tested the rowdy pup's short patience.
After a year or so of this, Theona had grown into a beautiful young wolf with lots of potential. Aretha had managed to shape the once bouncy, unruly child into a well-spoken she-wolf with enough self control and patience to last a lifetime. At first, she tried teaching her the basics of hunting, and Theona caught on quickly but didn't appear to be anything special in that field. So, Aretha had decided to just work in the area of political knowledge and courtesy. The pair roamed the continent, checking the status of different packs in order to keep their cultural awareness up to date. At first, the young wolf wasn't sure what the point of all of this was, but soon she figured it out.
Her mentor was growing old and running out of time. She was doing everything she could to prepare Theona for life after her death - and she hoped she would find this future life in a pack. Aretha never told her this, but Theona was observant and intelligent enough to put the puzzle pieces together. So, she learned with an open mind and took everything in while she still had her mother-like figure around. One of the most important things she learned from the aging wolf was that she should never let anyone perceive her as weak or try to take advantage of her because she was a female. She was told that she was much to smart for anyone to think of her as any less and that she must make this clear to anyone who belittled her ever.
When Theona turned three, Aretha died peacefully of old age. She was heartbroken, but she also knew that this wolfess would not want her to sit around and grieve her death. She would want her to put it behind her, put her many teachings to use, and find a new life on her own. She had been provided with all of the information and skills to survive on her own, so she tried this for a while - continuing to roam the entire continent and watching each of the packs live from afar. However, she became lonely very quickly and knew that she had to pick one of the packs to join. She knew the basic structures behind each, but she was incredibly indecisive when it came to the place she would hopefully reside for the rest of her life.
Personality:
Although she has never had experience living in a pack, Theona withholds all of the important quality of a pack wolf. She is respectful, well-mannered, hardworking, and extremely loyal. She will to anything she can to make those around her happy and in the best quality of life possible. She needs structure in her life and a specific job to keep her occupied or she will become bored and without purpose.
She's also exceptionally intelligent, using reason and her quick thinking to work through any problem she is faced with. Her brain is well trained in the area of skilled negotiating, and while she is not easily persuaded to accept anything less than what she wants, she knows how to make smart compromises as well. She isn't stubborn, though, in fact she keeps her mind open to any new ideas. She's remarkably accepting of anyone with different beliefs or cultural behaviors other than her own, and she hopes to try her best to understand those around her in a way that can tell her why they think or act the way the do. She isn't quick to judge, but she doesn't trust every wolf she meets. Everyone is like a blank slate to her until she is able to dive in and figure them out for herself. And until then, they are neither trustworthy nor untrustworthy in her eyes.
When making friends, Theona does not exclude anyone. She is open to forming new bonds and is fairly friendly and approachable, but she is in no way cheerful or overly excited about talking to every wolf she meets. She has rational expectations regarding friendship, and she believes in quality over quantity. That said, she will not refuse a chat with an acquaintance by any means. She is a social wolf - as most instinctively are - and thrives off of wolf-to-wolf contact. She does, however, require clear communication to form a true friendship. She can express her thoughts quite clearly, and prefers when another can do the same. She doesn't like playing games, she would rather be straightforward and honest with one another.
One of Theona's biggest fear is being perceived as any less of a wolf because she is female. Because of this, she rarely allows herself to share weaknesses with those she doesn't know very well or trust. In a romantic relationship, she believes in equality and being comfortable enough to share the deepest, darkest thoughts with a mate without fear of being belittled or ridiculed.
