All in all, the past several days had gone extremely well. Not only had Airila expanded in number, but they had also expanded in territory. Life was good and the future looked bright. Now, if only his father would finally recover. He worried constantly about many things, and his father's illness was always one of them. That and Harlot's condition. She was heavily pregnant now, and he had not seen her for several days and it worried him greatly. Where had she gotten off to? Was she alright? Was she hurt? He frowned as he moved, pacing the pack borders in the forest as if he was really patrolling. He was agitated, but he still had a duty to protect the pack. His brother would likely be patrolling their new extended home in Cryothia, as his mate had decided that it would be the place she would give birth this season. The idea of a pregnant female giving birth to their weak and helpless offspring in a place they had just claimed scared him, but he had no right to tell her what to do with her family.
But they were his family, too. Nieces and Nephews, just as his own children would be nieces and nephews to Jadir. If only Kujo was still among them. He had not seen his other brother in quite some time, and the lack of his presence put another heavy burden on the interim alpha's mind. What had happened to him? Would he ever see his family again? Where was Swan? He frowned even more as he moved down the border, ignoring the fact that the sun was setting quickly and he really should have been getting back to the center of the territory. He doubted he would sleep tonight. Perhaps he would spend the entire night patrolling. But he knew he would also spend it worrying. He was so young, just old enough to produce offspring this year - as he had proven with Harlot - but already he had so many worries and troubles weighing down his mind. Would it always be like this? Would he always be so worried about his family?
But he could not let himself be completely distracted from the task at hand. He would have to worry about them all so much more if their territory was invaded by another pack or by lone strangers. His frown remained as he stopped to mark the border every once in a while and then moved on once more to repeat the process several yards down the treeline. They not only had pregnant females to protect, but they also had newborn pups. His friend Rikez and his mate Calantha had recently brought four pups into the world. They would need a safe place to explore and grow up. Arche knew he had to give that to them. It was his duty, not only to the pack as a whole, but also to his friend. He and Rikez had not spent a ton of time together as of late, but he knew that his friend was busy with his mate and pups. It was all completely understandable, but Arche could not help but feel somewhat lonely because of it all. Harlot did not seem to be around anywhere he looked - which was the major reason for his current anxiety - his father was ill, Rikez and Jadir were too busy with their own families, and there were so many new wolves within their borders to help and assimilate into their family. How could he do all of this on his own?
