History:Many years ago, the Alpha of Regium, Aviur, encountered a beautiful she-wolf in North America, where the pack resided. No questions asked, Aviur immediately took her to Regium, forcing her to join. The fae's name turned out to be Amethyst and she ended up proving herself to be not only beautiful but talented as well. She could hunt well, hold her own in various scuffles with other pack members, and was a fast learner, earning her extensive knowledge in healing. With her talents and Aviur's leadership qualities, their offspring was supposed to be supreme, the best, multitalented. Not long after Amethyst joined the pack, Aviur mounted her, spreading his seed and creating what ought to have been the most worthy heirs to the throne.
Regium was a unique pack, one holding value in Maned wolves. And so a litter of Maned wolves was born, four black pups and one stark contrast. There was much shock about this odd one out, speculation of bad omens and cursed children. Aviur was appalled at his white son and instead paid attention to the four ordinary-coloured pups—two sons born first and the two youngest of the litter, daughters. Most did not acknowledge the middle child's existence.
The white-furred wolf was not given a name, neglected and put to the side by everyone but his mother, Amethyst. He did not have a name recognised by most of Regium, but Amethyst saw her youngest son as special, a good omen. She named him secretly, christening the albino Iason and teaching him about healing at night when most of Regium was asleep.
Iason's siblings grew up to be talented individuals like their parents, excelling in all aspects of life. Their brother would have followed suit had he not been constantly told that, because of his 'freakishness', he would scare all of the prey away, that he would just be laughed at on the battlefield, that no wolf in their right mind would wanted to be treated by him. He was told that he was terrible at everything that he might have been good at and so did not bother to try and hunt or fight, although he still wanted to learn how to heal with his mother. Iason did not think that he could be a decent healer, but he tried anyway, wanting to make his mother happy.
And so Iason became, unknowingly, an expert on plants, experimenting with plants himself later on once he was confident enough. He was never required to speak so he never spoke and, eventually, his packmates learned to tolerate the freak or the misfit or the pariah or whatever moniker they decided to bestow upon him. Only Amethyst called him Iason.
Just when the albino's life seemed to be settling down, tragedy struck. Iason's mother fell grievously ill out of seemingly nowhere and, despite her youngest son's every attempt to revive her, she passed away. When Aviur discovered that his disappointment of a son had given herbs to his mate, he became furious, accusing the pale-furred male of murder and of poisoning the younger wolf's mother.
Temper raging, the Alpha brutally attacked his son, leaving a scar raking across Iason's otherwise solid white flank. After a moment of being frozen in fear, the terrified healer fled his homelands, condemned to living out the rest of his sorry life as an exile. Realising that there was likely no hope of living a fulfilling life and with the one wolf who had shown kindness to him dead, the broken wolf made a decision mere days after he had fled Regium.
He was to die.
At the time of his final decision, Iason was residing by a seemingly endless expanse of water. He had only heard tales of this enormous body of liquid and of how a multitude of wolves had 'drowned' in it. They had, put simply, died of breathing in water, being completely submerged in it. Whether or not it was painful did not matter awfully to the albino; the point was that it would be a relatively quick death so there was nothing to fear, really.
With a feeling of hopelessness and depression hanging around the Maned wolf, he jumped into the liquid abyss, waiting for something to happen. It seemed, however, that he floated, and although his vision darkened and the light faded and he lost consciousness, he did not die. Instead, Iason awoke to a strange continent. Anikira.
Personality:Having grown up thinking that he was inferior and lesser than other wolves, Iason has low self esteem. He does not necessarily loathe himself, but he takes it as fact that he is not as worthy as other wolves. Others always come first in his mind for they are, from his point of view, more useful and valuable than himself.
Despite his oppressed upbringing, Iason is a sweet wolf, kind and gentle and altruistic in nature. He enjoys helping others and believes strongly in love conquering hate, having an almost pacifist outlook on life. When his diminished confidence in his ability is not holding him back, the healer prides himself in using his skills to help anyone and everyone. As long as his wellbeing is in no immediate, direct danger, he is very much happy to help whoever he encounters.
Never taught or given the opportunity to develop social skills, the Maned albino is a timid being, seeking solitude mostly. He rarely becomes close enough with others to open up about his emotions and abusive past, despite being warm towards whoever he can. In the company of others, Iason is often awkward and shy, letting others to do the talking. If it is one of the seldom occurring occasions where the pink-eyed male communicates, his signing is soft and meek, the silent gestures never contradicting his peers or interrupting them. Through muteness, the male's social anxiety manifested itself, making the issue both physical and psychological.
However, the coy male does not approve of himself being used as a doormat. He wants to be loved and respected himself—not revered like a king or worshipped like a god, but simply not ostracised and despised in life. Having fled from his father gave Iason the will to break free of oppressors, to not just sit there and be abused. Not willing to fight, in the case of him being treated unfairly, the Maned wolf will simply remove himself from the situation, and without hesitation as well.
