History: Charles Manson, known as Charlie to those that are close to him, does not come from Anikira. He lived close by, however, on a different island. He was technically not a "native" to that island, either, his parents having lived in the Americas. In fact, that is also where Charlie was born. His parents were actually household pets, belonging to a family that had way too much time and property on their hands. So they did what any bored, irresponsible human with two, unfixed pet wolves would do. They bred them. However, being irresponsible, and not wanting to get into any trouble, they didn't tell anyone. The poor female never got any prenatal care. No checkups with the vet. Nothing. And it seemed like her pregnancy was going just fine. She seemed healthy. Until the labor came. And when it came, it hit her hard, and it lasted hours. She had a litter of three pups, two of which were stillborn and the other, you guessed it, was little Charlie.
The she-wolf unfortunately bled out and the humans, filled with sorrow, sold the male wolf and kept Charlie only long enough to bottle feed him before he could be weaned and sold to someone else. Because of this, Charlie never learned how to properly socialize with others. He was given the bare minimum of attention and affection, his whines and cries being ignored for the first few months of his life. This would shape his future.
When the new humans came for him, they had no idea what they were getting themselves in to. They took Charlie away and, by his first birthday, Charlie was on an island with his new owners. They lived there without incident for a few months but then things starting going downhill, and when they did, they went downhill fast. You see, Charlie wasn't used to all of the commotion. He wasn't used to seeing other canines (not even the household dog and cat). When the new owners tried to show him affection, he would become confused and anxious, growling and snarling at them when they would try to pet him. He was afraid. He didn't understand what they were doing and the humans didn't understand how to train him.
On one fateful day, when the family decided to take their boat out, including Charlie on the outing for the first time since they had gotten him, things got a little... wild. Charlie had only been on a boat once before, when he was brought over to the island. That voyage had been months long but he had also been younger, under a year old, and now he was just over two years. He was older now, and stronger, and more afraid than ever. As soon as the boat started moving, the young wolf started howling. He paced the deck of the boat, eyes deranged, teeth bared, and hackles raised. The humans, bless their hearts, tried to comfort him, but it only caused the two year old more stress and anxiousness, enough to make him snap.
Charlie does not remember what happened. He just remembers one of the humans reaching for him, saying something in that weird tongue all humans seemed to speak, and then the humans were dead and he was covered in blood and the boat had gotten stuck in shallow water and was slowly gaining water. Frightened, confused, and with the taste of fresh blood upon his taste buds, the wolf leaped out of the boat and into the ocean, swimming to shore and arriving in his new home. Anikira.
Note - My mom had a timber wolf as a pet when she was a child, so, yes, it is actually a thing that is possible it is just a bit frowned upon, as one can imagine.
Personality: It is true what they say... a mind can only take so much pressure before it caves, and that is exactly what has happened to sweet little Charlie, here. Upon first meeting him, he merely comes off as awkward and socially inept. He doesn't understand most social cues or how to interact with other wolves very easily. He's very paranoid and has a strong aversion to touch as well as sudden noises, even quiet ones. The sudden rustling of leaves in the wind is enough to make this paranoid pooch jump out of his skin, turning to face the source of the noise and staring at it, keeping completely still, until he is sure that danger has passed. He suffers not only from paranoia but delusions as well as hallucinations. He will hear, see, feel, smell, and even taste things that are not there and because of this has become very hyper-sensitive to his surroundings. Curious by nature, but frightened of his own shadow, Charlie needs a strong hand to guide him through the simplest tasks and really needs someone to keep him grounded. Without this, he suffers from psychotic episodes at an alarmingly constant rate, becoming hostile and suspicious towards anyone in the vicinity. He suffers from frequent blackouts during this episodes, "waking up" anywhere from hours to days afterwards with no recollection of what he has done.
