Changes have become too severe in Anikira, and the wolves have been temporarily relocated to the Anikiran Southern Isles. Things have grown dire and unlivable on the mainland; it was time for outside intervention. Please be sure to review the full update on the staff board for more information!
The current season is fall in the Southern Isles. Due to their proximity to the equator, the region is still warm. There is currently no breeding and no birthing amongst the wolves
Wraith was no longer a baby, or at least she didn't think so. She was beginning to develop into quite the female. Her appendages weren't as gangly and her body seemed to be evening out. She was beginning to develop curves, her fur was becoming fuller. She felt like an adult but all these changes also reminded her that she was one step closer to her first birthday. The thought was bittersweet. Bittersweet because she had not seen her sister for months now, and she had heard rumors that her mother had..passed. The thought of it made her stomach turn. Xena had never held a lot of emotion towards her or Banshee.. But Wraith had loved her nonetheless. There had always been that drive to make her mother proud- it had drove her into the determined female she was today. Made her yearn for things and really go after them when she wanted them. Unfortunately she also inherited her stubborn attitude from Xena as well. But Wraith began to wonder if Banshee even knew about their mother's death. Why hadn't she come to see her? Why hadn't she left Kairos? Had she even left Kairos at all? All these thoughts made her angry. There were so many things her sister could be doing but yet she remained stagnant.
Wraith knew that she couldn't do much being as small and untrained as she was. BUT she did know that her father was going to start training her and she would put 110% into every single part of her training. She would do every task with determination and drive. She needed to be the best she could be if she was ever going to track down the mongrel that had stolen her mother's life. Part of her was shocked that her mother had succumbed. Perhaps she had just lost the will to live.. Wraith just hoped that she hadn't suffered. She shook her head, her paws leading her forward as the glowworms glowed overhead. This was a peaceful place. One that she needed to be in right now with all those negative thoughts circulating through her brain. Her auds pinned as she sat down, letting a loud sigh escape her as she closed her eyes for a moment. Sometimes she wondered if she could even do this, but she couldn't think negatively. She had to just pick up and deal with it one way or another.

[attr="class","pltxt"]It had been a few weeks since Laurel had joined the pack of Ultoris. She had been studiously trying to acquaint herself with her pack members and had managed to meet a good number of them. Each of them had been even more different from the last, but each one special none the less. She had felt as if she had made a good number of friends. Even if Rocket didn't approve of her choice to make this her home, it was rapidly becoming her new favorite place. Plus her little raccoon couldn't deny his love of the riverbank. She had spent the majority of her time inside of the cavernous maze that was Aleru, trying to memorize all of it. Only now had she decided to return to the entrance of the territory. The sun had been something that she had missed the last few days, Rocket pushing her to leave the caverns. He wanted the fresh air as much as she did. Before long she smelled the scent of a wolf she had not met yet. The chance to make a new friend was not lost on her as she quickened her pace.
When the little female came into view she couldn't help but smile at her comical stature. The few others she had met had been her size or a bit smaller, but this little female was tiny compared to Laurel. She wasted no time rushing to greet the ebony creature. Her nose pressed into the youth in her typical greeting, drawing in the little female's scent. It was very obviously Ultoris, and held the smallest trace of Severus as well. It was very possible that the female was related to the alpha she had met a few weeks prior. Smiling down at her Laurel let her shadow cast down on the already dark creature. Most other wolves didn't mind her abrupt form of greeting, but Laurel didn't know any better. She had been raised to be blunt, abrupt, and to the point. Rocket trailed behind her, even more cautious than his wolfy friend. He sneezed from behind Laurel keeping his keen eyes on the youngster. He had almost been killed by younger wolves, their curiosity had led to his torture. They had ripped him apart over and over again until he couldn't put himself back together on his own. Laurel had saved him from their evil clutches and then killed them for him. Ever since that day they had been together. She had healed him and he had been her companion ever since.
He still refused to trust other wolves, but he knew that Laurel would protect him. Young ones were different though. He still cowered a bit when he first met wolves who hadn't reached maturity. They hadn't figured out who they were exactly and that made them dangerous. "Hello. I am Laurel."

Wraith was content to spend the day on her own today but it seemed that fate had other plans for her. As soon as the breeze shifted with it came the unfamiliar scent of a strange wolf. With it however were many other Ultoris scents intertwined so Wraith was confident that she was a pack member. However she had not been anticipating that this stranger was going to come barreling towards her. Her frame was hulking in comparison to her own and Wraith instantly coiled aback. She did not know of her intentions and so her top lip curled back out of warning, her pearly white canines glistening in the sunlight. It seemed that this female was nothing but brazen however when she proceeded to stick her nose right into the scruff of her neck. Okay enough poking! She snapped a bit harsher then what she intended. She pushed herself away from the female to scowl at her for a moment before planting her haunches firmly on the ground. Who are you anyways? She questioned, her auds pinned for the moment. Hello. I am Laurel.Laurel. Indeed Wraith had never met this female. She was an interesting one to say the least. And then she saw it. At first she hadn't even noticed the creature she was so distracted with Laurel's poking and prodding and then her eyes landed on the raccoon. Instantly her mouth watered and she rose off the ground, nose twitching.
It did not dawn on Wraith that this particular raccoon could be a companion of sorts. Turn around! She whispered to Laurel, her steady golden brown gaze set on the creature. But as soon as she was tempted to leap at the raccoon he seemed to duck away from sight. She leaned back, frustrated. Is there a particular reason as to why you aren't killing that thing already? She asked with her monotone vocals, rather blunt during the entire process. Wraith had only ever seen raccoon's as food and after killing one recently she found that she had acquired a taste for them. But if this creature was with Laurel she supposed that she would not touch him, no matter how tasty he looked. I am Wraith, daughter of Severus. She spoke before walking back to the place she had previously sat in. She didn't mind the relatively large shadow that Laurel cast down on her, it gave her some shade from the hot sun. She waited for Laurel to answer her question as it was certainly peculiar that she had a raccoon with her. She was sure that there had to be some interesting back story behind all of it.

[attr="class","pltxt"]The youngsters show of aggression didn't really bother Laurel. Mythril had shown her the same greeting when Laurel had first moved to touch her, but it was the only greeting that she knew. The only part of her upbringing that she could easily slip into her normal life. After her banishment she had felt ashamed of herself and refused to allow herself the comfort of remembering home. She was meant to become their leader, but instead she had betrayed their trust and murdered two of her brothers. She didn't regret the actions that had led to her banishment, but she did yearn for the peace of home sometimes. Ultoris was rapidly becoming her new home, but it was very different from her birth pack. Not only was it a great deal smaller, but it was also a place where anyone could come, entry not denied to outsiders. Soon the energy between the females turned, and Laurel watched as Wraith began to hone in on Rocket. Her nose twitched and her mouth started to water, Rocket choosing to climb atop Laurel's back instead of remain on the ground. Laurel's warning growl was deep, coming from somewhere in her chest. "That thing? I told you Laurel all these wolves are the same. Barbarians just looking for an easy meal." Rocket's fur was stuck out in every direction and he bore his teeth at the youth. For whatever reason he could never bring himself to relax around he youngsters.
Laurel turned to nudge him gently offering him whatever comfort she could. It was hard for him to live here where often times he was not accepted, like Laurel was. "He is not going to be killed. Ever." Laurel's voice was stern dissuading the pup to challenge her concerning Rocket. It would be best if she learned from the start that Rocket was hers, always. She would risk the flames of hell just to make sure that Rocket was safe, his life having already been put through enough. "It's like they don't even care that I am a person. I told you they were all savages. Little beasties." Laurel had spent the better part of her life killing beasts that deserved it, and although she was reluctant to risk her position here within the ranks of Ultoris, she would do anything to keep Rocket safe. "Make sure you don't forget that, Wraith daughter of Severus." Laurel couldn't blame the youth her reaction considering that most wolves had been raised to eat raccoons, among other things. Even Laurel, who hunted for herself, would eat something that Rocket considered to be off limits, but she killed her prey quickly. Causing pain and torture and killing to eat were two very different things in her eyes. "My name is Rocket if you even care to know and I am a living breathing person just like the two of you. And Right now I happen to be feeling like not being eaten." His voice was sharp and filled with outrage at the thought of actually being devoured by Wraith.
Her nose twitched as she sniffed the air, inhaling the raccoon's scent. Wraith however did not move from the spot she stood in but her eyes did not shift from the creatures body. In her eyes he was food but she was more intrigued by the fact that Laurel was letting him climb all over her, as if he was some kind of..pet.That thing? I told you Laurel all these wolves are the same. Barbarians just looking for an easy meal. Her eyes grew twice in size when the creature actually spoke and this time she took a step back. She glanced from Laurel back at him, her eyes HUGE as the realization of him speaking finally hit her. He talks? She asked, her eyes never wavering from the raccoon. Her nose continued to twitch, an invisible eye brow arched out of curiosity. He is not going to be killed. Ever. Make sure you don't forget that, Wraith daughter of Severus. She returned Laurel's gaze, realizing the severity of her words. Of course Wraith would not double cross Laurel, after hearing the creature talk she had no interest in eating him. My name is Rocket if you even care to know and I am a living breathing person just like the two of you. And Right now I happen to be feeling like not being eaten. Wraith was still in complete shock that the raccoon could talk to her, let alone let her know what his name was. She took another step back and then sat on her haunches, hopefully to show him that she had no intentions of eating him.
Well..neither of you have to worry. I have no intentions of eating you Rocket. My apologies as well.. I've..only ever been taught to hunt your kind but I can change my taste buds. She flashed him the smallest of smiles, rare in her case. It was then that she focused on Laurel, plenty of questions bubbling in her mind. So how did you find him? This is definitely not something you see every day. She spoke to her being nothing but brutally honest. Her tail wrapped around her front paws as she sat back and waited to hear the back story behind these two. She occasionally would glance over at the raccoon while stifling a laugh at his ruffled fur. They were almost similar to one another with their matching masks and Wraith couldn't help but feel like the little guy was growing on her; and hopefully in time she would grow on him too.

[attr="class","pltxt"]Laurel did not begrudge the little female her curiosity, for Laurel had in fact been equally as intrigued by Rocket. She had found that he could speak amongst many animals, more than others she had met on her travels. He had begged her for help, his first words so faint and hopeless. The death's of his tormentors had brought him a momentary peace that was replaced by trust. From that day on they had been inseparable, always with one another. Laurel had just expected him to be grateful for her assistance as most of the others were, instead she had gained a life long friend. He was her companion, her confidant, her best friend. She would not allow anything to happen to him as long as he was with her. She would kill for him, she would die for him, and she would forsake every vow she had ever made to keep him safe. Whether Wraith's words were genuine or not Laurel had every intention of keeping a close eye on the youth. She had not reached her maturity yet and that made her unpredictable. The flood of hormones and changes could cause even some of the most level headed wolves snap from the stress.
Rocket didn't seem to be buying into her words, but he did slowly release his grip on her fur. He was tense perched upon her back, but she understood his fear. It was the hardest emotion to overcome, dark and treacherous it could skew one's perception. Rocket was usually cautious around wolves, all but Myth who had seemed to enchant him. "I found him almost dead in the woods." Laurel had no more explanation for how she had found the little raccoon, for it had been simple chance that she had stumbled across him. "Of course I speak. Why wouldn't I be able to speak? It's not as if wolves are the only intelligent creatures that inhabit the earth. None are as respectable as Laurel here though. She killed them for me." That action had drawn them together, and it was something that would lie between them forever. Some found murder to be an atrocity, but Rocket had never judged her for the actions done. He never questioned her when she took a life, a deserving life.
So many creatures considered to be weak played on Laurel's sympathies, and she had taken it upon herself to exact vengeance for them. Justice was something that she considered to be of great importance. Banishing these thoughts to the back of her brain Laurel allowed herself to sit down, Rocket sliding down her back. He tumbled on the ground, giving an oomph before running to settle himself into her chest. The past few weeks he had been more and more attentive, keeping physical contact with her. The uptick in the number of wolves that surrounded them made him a little more reluctant to leave her side. Only when they were alone did he venture off to explore a little on his own.

This untraditional coupling is one of the truly loving matches in Anikira. Although they are members of two different species, Calantha and Rikez have overcome the differences and rose above, finding love in the most pure of ways. And from this pairing, a litter born of two loving parents was conceived. These little boys and girls will have the great honor of being raised by two parents that support each other, while many of the offspring in Anikira have not had such a benefit. The pair are truly fitting of one another; both kind-hearted and generally good individuals.
