General
Name: Angel
Birthday: 15 August 2008
Gender: Female
Species: Tundra Wolf
Physical
Height: 30 inches
Length: 60 inches
Weight: 115 pounds
Coat Colour: Pure white. Not a speck of any other colour is to be found on her, except for her eyes and her dark grey paw pads.
Eye Colour: Light blue with white flecks that are distinguishable only if you are looking closely.
Health Issues: A strange mental ‘change’ that happens when she is feeling an intense emotion, apart from happiness or love. It is related to anger-management problems but is far more dangerous. She doesn’t have control over her actions and can’t be persuaded to calm down. She gets a small amount of amnesia afterwards that means she can remember nothing of what she’s done during her rage. Luckily, the rages have only happened about three times during Angel’s life.
Other Information: Angel is powerfully built and has very strong jaws so is extremely dangerous when she is out of control.
Mental
Mental Stability: Some wolves consider her to be a bit crazy. Others consider her to be insane. And they haven’t yet experienced her anger…
History: Angel used to have three brothers called Jerboa, Nalèv and Chais. Her parents were Koia and Marrus. She was named ‘Angel’ because she was pure white while the rest of her siblings were grey. She had a very happy childhood and was taught to believe that the world was perfect.
The reason for this was that when Angel was barely two weeks old, she got angry at her mother and attacked her. Koia was not severely harmed but she became very worried for her pup. When the problems persisted, she told her older brother, who was the pack shaman.
The shaman said that he’d heard of the illness before and that the family had a very distant history of the disease. He instructed Koia and Marrus to take good care of Angel and raise her as a wolf who sees the good in everything and everyone. He told them that Angel would not be a problem if she was always cheerful, because the mental transformation does not occur if the wolf feels happiness or love. He said that they needed to be careful of her, even when she was older, because she wouldn’t be conscious when she was in the rage and would never remember it afterwards.
Koia and Marrus miraculously understood all this information and took it to heart. They made sure she was always happy, even if it meant that her brothers weren’t. They taught her that some things in the world were bad, but told her not to get disheartened because the good things were far better.
Because of this, Angel grew up to be a wolf who could always find the positives in things and who ignored the negatives completely. Sometimes, she was criticised as being ‘too’ happy, and some wolves said that her cheerfulness was not natural. Angel didn’t mind these comments one bit.
Over time, her parents relaxed and thought that maybe the mental illness had grown out of their innocent little angel. The pups grew, and everyone was happy. But one day, as if Angel had sensed their thoughts, Koia and Marrus were proven horribly wrong.
It was over a silly thing; her brother had stolen a piece of meat from her and she was beginning to get upset because he was taunting her with it. Koia and Marrus looked on in amusement; Angel looked so cute with a frown plastered on her face.
Jerboa became bolder and bolder, because he wasn’t being told off, and he became more and more irritating until finally, her emotions reached boiling point and she lost control. The illness had taken over. Angel’s eyes seemed to turn dark and she seemed to grow larger and older as she lashed out at her brother and snapped at him with her sharp fangs.
He was too surprised to fight back, and she managed to inflict a fatal wound in his throat before her parents pulled her away. She attacked them too, and it was a miracle how they managed to keep hold of her. They sustained serious injuries, even though their attacker was only a couple of months old.
Finally, Angel calmed down and fell unconscious, landing heavily in the spreading pool that was her dying brother’s blood.
In the morning, she awoke to find her parents having a whispered argument in the corner of the den. The last thing that Angel remembered from the day before was her brother dancing in front of her muzzle, holding the piece of meat he’d stolen. She couldn’t remember why she’d blacked out, but supposed that her brother had accidentally hit her on the head.
“Where’s Jerboa, mama?” she asked innocently, not knowing that he’d been buried just before she’d awoken. There was no blood in her fur because her mother had thoroughly washed it until there was no trace whatsoever of the fight.
Koia came over and lay on the ground next to Angel. “Your brother decided to leave the pack, my little angel”.
Marrus scowled in the corner. He had lost the argument about whether to tell Angel the truth about her illness.
“Don’t worry, my dear, he’s old enough to look after himself now. You four are all growing up to be big, strong wolves”. Koia licked Angel’s ear comfortingly but Angel felt the nervous quiver that betrayed Koia’s tension.
“Maybe you should think of exploring and finding your own territory too, my love. There are many great wonders that you have yet to see”
The truth was that the alpha wanted Angel away from his pack. He had only allowed Marrus and Koia to mate because Marrus was the beta, his trusted advisor. There was no way he was going to risk the lives of the pack for the comfort of a young pup that wasn’t even his. Some, including Angel’s brother, Nalèv, had deserted the pack already and the alpha was losing his power over the remaining members. He wanted her gone, and if she wouldn’t leave, he was going to kill her.
But Angel’s eyes sparkled with delight. She loved adventures. She had been waiting patiently for the day that her mother would let her make her own way into the big wide world, and now the wait was over.
“I’ll miss you, mama” she said sweetly, already planning for her adventures. “I’ll miss you too, my angel. Remember what I’ve taught you, and you’ll be fine”
A couple of days later, Angel was no longer a member of the pack. She roamed the wilderness, kept company by her strong belief in her ancestors and her daydreams of romance and friendship. She was always positive and never gave up on anything. During this time, her beliefs grew stronger and she became ‘crazier’. She seemed to be becoming even more innocent as the days went by.
Angel heard about the great island of Anikira from an old fox who had relations there. She was so curious about it that she swam across the very next day. Angel has been exploring the island ever since.
Personality: Angel is ‘too’ positive, according to most wolves. She is very trusting, and believes that everyone is good, even though they might seem bad. She thinks that good can be found anywhere, and that you just need to look for it.
She daydreams a lot, mostly of romance, and would love to have a mate who cared deeply for her. She thinks that love is the greatest power in the universe.
She hates fighting and always tries to keep the peace between rivals, no matter how big their argument is. She is innocent and naïve to danger, darkness, and despair and believes that the world was created purely for fun and happiness. She sees the good in every situation and is not terribly afraid of any wolf.
Angel is honest and wouldn’t lie to save her life. She thinks that other wolves tell the truth too, and almost never realises when a lie is being told.
Even though she is over two years old, she still acts like a little pup. She loves playing games and yearns for some pups of her own. Angel dreams of a handsome wolf who will sweep her off her paws and take her on romantic adventures. She believes that every wolf has a true love, and believes that no wolf is ever alone because their ancestors will always look out for them.
Angel has a dark side to her, though. If she experiences very strong emotions, she almost becomes another wolf. She becomes the ultimate extreme of the emotion she was feeling. She also becomes very aggressive towards the one who caused her change in personality, and lashes out at even the slightest provocation.
This behaviour is dangerous to others around her because Angel is actually very strong and can easily kill a wolf with her powerful jaws.
After a while, she becomes drowsy and falls asleep. When she wakes up, she can remember nothing of what she’s done during her fit.
Luckily, the state of rage only occurs when she is feeling a very strong emotion. Her rages are very rare because she doesn’t lose control when she feels love or happiness, and she is happy almost all of the time.
That is the reason why her parents made sure she had a perfect childhood. They never told her about her condition so she knows absolutely nothing of the dark side lurking within her.
