History: Titan was the eldest son of Ouranos and Gaia, two loners who lived on a small patch of land in the west of the Waryck Jungle. The pair had been trying for pups for several years, so were over the moon when Gaia finally showed signs of being pregnant. Ouranos worked hard to keep Gaia well fed, putting the needs of his mate and her unborn pups well above his own. He wouldn’t let any danger come to her at all, and would have wrapped her in bubble wrap if he’d had any. The she wolf didn’t mind her mate’s protectiveness of her, as it meant the safety of her pups – the most valuable things in their world. The pups were a little overdue, but the birth went very smoothly and Ouranos and Gaia were soon proud parents.
Titan was born with two brothers, Iapetus and Hyperion, and a sister called Rhea. It was a large litter, but miraculously all four of the pups survived into adulthood, thanks to very careful parenting. The small family pack kept itself secluded from the rest of the world, never even daring to come within sight of other wolves. They avoided confrontation whenever possible, moving if loners entered their area rather than defending it.
Their days passed in peace, although whenever the pack moved Titan always felt very frustrated that they couldn’t defend what was theirs. As the pups grew Rhea and Hyperion emerged as promising hunters, and Iapetus decided to learn how to be a shaman like his mother. Titan wanted to be a warrior. He was easily the largest and most dominant pup in the litter, and his siblings had quickly learned not to mess with him. He in fact reminded Ouranos of his father, Khaos, who had been a powerful warlord in his time, and the male took to telling his pup tales of the old days. Ouranos had decided to leave to live a quiet peaceful life with his mate, but although he tried to teach his pup that the violent lifestyle was not good, he couldn’t help the slightly wistful note in his voice and Titan secretly wished that he had been born in the time when that great pack had still stood.
Ouranos had retained his skills as a fighter, and so he taught his pups basic moves so that they would be able to defend themselves if they were ever confronted and couldn’t run away. The jungle was a dangerous place and there were predators around who often stole their prey and were keen for the taste of young wolf. Titan loved the teaching sessions, but they were too few and far between for his liking so he took to practicing the moves in his own time, and soon found himself adjusting them to try out new things. He couldn’t get far without a sparring partner though, so Iapetus was picked as the training dummy. Iapetus was slightly bullied into it at the start but as the weakest of the siblings he wanted to become better at defending himself and he soon realised that the arrangement benefited them both. Titan in turn found that he liked training with his brother, becoming almost a mentor to him (even though neither really knew what they were doing), and they made progress quickly. The larger brother quickly realised that although Iapetus wasn’t strong he was smart, and because of this he gained respect for his gentler sibling.
However, warriors weren’t needed in the tiny non-violent pack and the only leadership position was held by Ouranos, so there was no way that the ambitious youngster could fulfill his dreams of a proper rank. As he grew older he became more and more restless and by the time he was in his second year he had already made numerous attempts to gain leadership. But all his efforts were to no avail, as the others fully trusted Ouranos to guide them and wanted no change from their current lifestyle. The only way Titan could see to take the position of alpha was to kill his father, which he was not prepared to do. Although they had their differences, the young wolf loved Ouranos, and besides, the others were not the sort of wolves he really wanted under his command – none could fight and it was not worth trying to kick them into shape when they had no desire for anything more than their current life. Ouranos did look after his family well and Titan was sure that his own reign wouldn’t be as peaceful. He wasn’t known to be a particularly kind wolf, but he recognised that his family were happy as they were.
But the fact remained that he had grown bored with their peaceful isolated lifestyle. He didn’t exactly look down on it, but he knew that it wasn’t what he wanted. Nothing interesting ever happened and Titan wanted to make his mark on the world, which he couldn’t do when his pack was too scared to even talk to strange wolves. So he decided to leave. His family was surprised by his decision, as he had never told anyone but Iapetus the true extent of his ambitions, but they let him go. It was hard for him to part with the brother that he’d grown so close to but he trusted Ouranos and Gaia to keep the family safe so at least he didn’t have to worry about them.
Titan wasn’t the best hunter, but he could manage, and it was his plan to find a new pack anyway. A large one – full of strong smart wolves – one which would give him the challenge of trying to rise in the ranks and make a name for himself. He looked through Kal’dyne first, inquiring of any friendly loners whether they had heard of a pack on the island. But friendly loners were harder to come by than he’d thought, and the jungle was so thick with vegetation and strange scents and sounds that it created an easy place to hide in for those who didn’t wish to be disturbed and also meant that two wolves could pass each other without knowing it.
Finally, after a few months spent wandering, he came across a lone she wolf and heard from her that there was a pack on the other side of the island, in the part of Tas’alea called Vor’asa; a good-sized strict militaristic pack with a powerful alpha. Just what he’d been looking for. Titan thanked the femme and eagerly began his journey north, moving as fast as he could without tiring himself out.
He was making his way around the Delia Basin when suddenly the world around him fell into chaos, like nothing he’d ever experienced before or heard stories about. The earth shook violently beneath his paws and lava rained down upon the island, burning everything it touched, and the ash in the air made it difficult to breathe. The large male was extremely frightened by this sudden unknown threat, and it was certainly not the kind of excitement he’d been looking for when he’d left his family. But even though he was closer to panic than he’d ever been before he eventually managed to get himself under control and find a small cave where he could hide until the destruction was over. When he finally emerged into the open again the whole world seemed to have changed and the smell of death was strong in the air. Perhaps now wouldn’t be the best time to ask to join the pack – his mind was still reeling so he could hardly imagine what chaos a pack would be in as they tried to figure out who was missing. But then again they might be looking for new members to keep their ranks strong – he was sure there would be pillagers taking advantage of the confusion. Titan decided that he would give it a shot, and if they didn’t want him he would go and look somewhere else.
Personality:Titan is very ambitious. He craves power and recognition and will nearly stop at nothing to get what he desires. He dreams of conquest and glory, and of eventually having a great and mighty pack under his command. He understands that a pack wouldn’t survive without hunters and healers, but war is his passion and he is a true warrior at heart. He loves not only the physical aspect of a battle, but the strategic too, and likes puzzling over how moves can be improved to perfection.
This wolf is nothing like the rest of his family, nor his breed for that matter, being rather aggressive and territorial. He likes to be in control and is quick to get on top of any change that might occur. As a naturally dominant wolf he demands to be treated with the proper respect, and is used to being given it, so would find it difficult being at the bottom of the hierarchy. Despite finding it difficult to shrug insults off without a challenge he is clever enough to know when a wolf is just trying to provoke him and likes to think that he is ready for anything and will keep a calm head in any situation (although the volcano incident gave him a bit of a run for his money).
Titan is an active wolf, and gets bored if he doesn’t have a job to do. He wants to live his life to the fullest – he would prefer to die young than to be too scared to do anything. On the border of being an adrenaline junkie, he does enjoy action and a bit of danger although he is not reckless enough to risk others’ lives.
Titan considers every wolf’s opinion and is fine with taking orders, but will often question them before he sees them through and isn’t afraid of challenging others if he thinks he can do things better. He likes to know what’s going on and weigh the risks before he commits to something, because he knows that once he is committed he will stubbornly see it through until the end. He likes structure and order, and believes that they are necessary to have in a good pack. Ranks are very important to him so although he prefers being dominant he will show submission to those who are superior to him, but only those who earn his respect will get it. Titan is not a sensitive wolf and will not hesitate to punish those who deserve it, including himself. He expects the best from himself and strongly dislikes slackers or those who let others do their work for them. But even though he could not be called noble, he has a strong sense of duty and he will protect every wolf in his group (whether family or pack) even if he doesn’t particularly like them. He is no coward in the face of death and would much rather go down in a blaze of glory than die of old age.
The large brute is actually surprisingly agile, and although he is not the fastest when it comes to running he has a lot of stamina and in extreme circumstances has the ability to ignore pain until he cannot physically go further. He is competitive and very stubborn; it is very hard to get him to give up and he will fight to the death if need be. He is confident in his strength, so it makes sense that his greatest fear is disease, an enemy which his muscles are no use against. He refuses to go anywhere near a sick wolf, even if the disease they have isn’t contagious, and when he is injured he would rather not be treated in the infirmary.
This mating season he discovered that he loves the ladies, so was delighted to learn that Darius allows free breeding in his pack. He is more interested in one-night stands than relationships at the moment, as he tends to think of females as things to claim rather than sentient beings. Titan doesn’t worry much about the consequences of these actions; it’s just a bit of fun in his mind and even if the femme in question does become pregnant he would be doing a service to his species by expanding their population. He’s fairly certain that all of the females he has mated with so far have had no interest in staying attached to him anyway, so it’s none of his business to deal with whatever pups they might have.
Titan can be cunning, but isn’t naturally deceptive and doesn’t hide away inside himself – he has no secret cuddly side just waiting for the right wolf to bring it out. No, anyone could see his entire personality if they watched him for long enough. His main problem is that he would rather settle a dispute physically than with words and many consider him to be harsh because of this.
Titan hates to be judged for his age and is determined to prove himself to the world. During his time as a loner he has gotten into a few scuffles over food and femmes, but hasn’t been in anything serious. In fact, he hasn’t killed another wolf in his entire life, and is painfully aware that if others knew this they would doubt him. But what he lacks in experience he makes up for in brute strength and raw instinct, and he’s sure that he would have the strength to kill if it was absolutely necessary. He knows that he could never go far by simply picking fights with stray loners, and wants to get in amongst the elite so he can learn from them. He is aware that he isn’t the best, but at only two years of age, he is still fairly young and has the potential to be moulded into a truly great warrior.
