Iqaluit woke up with a mouth full of sand and burning eyes. Had she fainted? And where was she now?
She squinted her eyes as she looked up and around. She was on a beach. There was no one around except for a few seagulls sitting on a rock. It must have been low tide because the rock was covered in seaweed.
She gets to her feet and takes a big breath. The faint scent of other wolves filled her snout. Was she trespassing? If so, the pack would most certainly be on their way since the winds where against her.
With a large sigh, Iqaluit walked away from the spot the tide had brought her in. Her instincts pointed her north, and so she went on her way, eager to explore this new place.
After hours of walking Iqaluit comes to the bottom of a mountain range. But every step brought her closer to a packs territory and she knew if she overstepped her boundaries it might mean her death. So she continued to walk, but away from the mountains.
On her walk, Iqaluit found many new things she had never seen before. New animals, new plants, and many new smells. It was almost overwhelming for Iqaluit because there was only a small amount of smells in the Arctic and she new if there was something different in the territory.
The only thing she did not see were other wolves. There were a lot of signs of them, but none in sight. Maybe that was a good thing.
She sat down under a lone tree and began to think of this as a blessing. Maybe the gods gave her this opportunity to start over. But now, Iqaluit would not have the chance to get revenge on her Mother for killing her Grandmother.
Iqaluit shook her head to try and get rid of the bad thoughts, and bring in new. Maybe she would be accepted and respected among others. Be looked up to by pups and asked for her opinion on problems others were facing.
She thumped her tail at the thought of happiness. Maybe she would finally find peace.
