There was a warm scent on the breeze that passed over the lands. Spring was definitely in the air. A lone wolf paused in his journey to lift his muzzle and sniff. The air gave off a very earthy scent muddled with pine and… ah rabbit. The wolf licked his lips advancing into the wind. His keen golden eyes were focused before him scouring the earth for his prey. The wind was nothing more than a mild distraction as it tossed the leaves and branches lightly to and fro. With his experience, the wolf could ignore the wind and concentration on what was most important. It didn’t take the male long to spot his chosen prey. The brown rabbit was hopping from green patch to green patch eager to get the best parts of the greens. With great stealth, the multihued wolf crept forward closer to the rabbit. His eyes were intent and attentive. His concentration was unwavering.
The critter was so absorbed by its food that it didn’t even notice its unwanted company. Closer now, the wolf slunk low to the ground. His ears were position forward, then to the side, and back to the front. It wouldn’t do well to have someone sneak up on him. The rabbit hopped a couple of inches toward him nibbling away at its own prey. The wolf smirked reading himself for the pounce. In one fell swoop, the wolf leaped forward onto the rabbit his jaws encircling its neck crunching down swiftly. As suddenly as it happened, it was over. The rabbit was dead and the wolf would soon be fed. Hawkeye licked his lips again digging into his meal with no hesitation. Since arriving to this unnamed land, he had only managed to catch two other rabbits for himself. Prey wasn’t scarce, but his energy was. The plane trip and its crashing into the ocean had taken a lot out of the wolf leaving him exhausted and sore.
Still, he was able to get just enough to feed himself. With a relatively full stomach Hawkeye continued forth. There were plains on his left with mountains on his right. He was having a hard time deciding into which territory to travel. Suddenly Hawkeye stopped again. Yellow eyes had spotted something a little out of the ordinary. Narrowing his optics, the wolf strode forward to investigate. “Hello there, what do we have here?” he questioned the air with a tilt of his head. “Now where does this go, I wonder.” The wolf had stumbled upon a large entrance that appeared to head underground and under the mountains. From the opening, it appeared to be quiet large in size. Feeling adventurous, Hawkeye gingerly stepped down into the cavern.
The light was fading from the outside world, but another source began to take over. Hawkeye peered up at the ceiling with a mystified expression. “What in the world!” the wolf exclaimed. The ceiling above was illuminated by some…thing that was clearly not the sun. That was when he noticed the echo. Blinking, Hawkeye stepped in further giving a woof. The ceiling was forgotten about as soon as the sound of his woof returned back to him. Laughing wildly, the brute barked gleefully listening to its echo. “Hello~~~~~.” he shouted off into the distance. The fact that this was someone’s home had not occurred to him in the least. Oh well, he was having fun!
