It felt odd, walking around and doing something for a pack again. She had spent so much time alone, running away from the people she feared, from those who had caused her so much pain. She never once thought she would find herself wandering in pack lands again, at least not without leaving. This was her home now, though, and she would have to make it such. She didn't think she'd get herself so close to the water again either. She had been sick of the ocean when she had arrived by being thrown across it. She was lucky to have survived and yet, there she was, part of a pack that lived on an island created by a volcano, surrounded nearly on all sides by ocean water. Towards the center of the island, it wasn't so bad, though the lack of major plant life bothered her. It was a nice, constant temperature though and she supposed she could live in this place without leaving.
Serynia was terrified to be a part of a pack, worried that they would turn on her as her last one had done. Her last pack hadn't even really been her pack. Se didn't quite understand why they saved her, took her in, even after killing the pack she was birthed into, including her own mother and father. None of that she remembered, of course, as she had been so young at the time, but she supposed she could have expected it considering the age difference between the little wolf she called a baby sister. Any thought of her immediately brought the images of watching her get ripped to shreds by her alpha, as a warning and a punishment to her. When she had attacked them for doing what they had done, they had turned on her and chose to go after her next. With a small head start, she had few places to go, and just ran. But they hunted her, and many times had come close to killing her. So, she hunted first, learned to kill and live with it. She had even killed the male she once loved.
The Mackenzie Valley femme had little idea why she occupied herself with these thoughts on a daily basis, considering that she now had a new reason to keep herself busy with. Patrolling, hunting and keeping loners away from the borders, marking them too. It felt somewhat nice to have a purpose again. Rather than just wandering around and searching for nothing in particular. Perhaps this would give her the opportunity to make friends, if she could. She knew damn well she was not a likable creature. She was vile and often rude, had a bit of a superiority complex, and lived on the "kill or be killed" philosophy. For the most part, it was a mask, a facade that cold easily be broken with the right touch, a touch she wanted nowhere near her. Every part of her feared her heart would be walked upon and shattered into a million more pieces by anyone she dared to trust. She may have now been part of a pack, but she would estrange herself until she knew for sure these wolves could be trusted, even if she would play nice.
The sun blazed overhead, but it was not overly hot, the early spring breeze and mist from the waterfall cooling down the atmosphere around her. She supposed it wouldn't hurt all that much to take a break. She came to the water's edge on careful paws. Being sure not to cut her pads on any of the sharper stones, she lowered her head and sucked up some of the chilled water the falls were providing into a pool beneath it. The cliff provided shade for this time of day and the slight breeze carried the water droplets off the edge of the water as it did fall. She paced a small ways into the pool, somewhat glad for the relief on her hot legs. Her fur dampened and drooped a little, and no shaking of the pelt could make it go away. She sighed, silver eyes flicking about and taking in the area. Small amounts of plant life, the sea on the horizon, and yet she was starting to enjoy it here. Perhaps those stone walls of hers were finally eroding, not matter how strong they stood.
