A cool wind blew through Raven's fur as he sat watching the falls. The clouds were extremely dark above, and though it was late morning, or so Raven estimated, it was almost as dark as night. Thunder boomed off in the distance, and Raven could tell just as well as any wolf that a storm was approaching. The weather had been kind of miserable the entire week, so when at last he felt drops of precipitation raining gently down on him, he was not surprised, and thus, he did not move.
It did not take long for Raven's fur to soak through, and a chill set deep in his bones. He began to shiver slightly, but still, sat watching the falls as they melted into the rain, becoming nothing. Any other wolf would have run for cover, but Raven looked up, embracing the downpour, and even smiling a little as the droplets beat against his muzzle. He didn't know why, but somehow, the rain felt so good. Almost as if he was washing away his past life. Maybe, he thought to himself, I really should move on... Tama... forgive me.
Raven knew he cold not continue the way he had for the past few months. He could not go looking for something he would never find. He would rather die than do that any longer. That, he realized, was why he threw himself into the ocean. He'd never really been sure why he'd done it before, but suddenly, it was as if the water had cleared his vision, and he could finally see the horizon that he'd been moving toward from the second he'd been born, whether he knew it or not. He didn't know if he was a curse or not, but one thing was sure: he could not live as though he was a danger to the world any longer, whether he was or not.
Even though the clouds were black overhead, and thunder rolled off in the distance, he felt as though the sun was shining down on him again. After all, I'm not Denar any longer... I'm Raven now....
