The full moon perched itself high in the black abyss above, casting glimmering ripples of silver upon an ivory pelted femme. Emerald eyes strained to maintain a focus upon the cascading gray waves as they kissed the sand. It was all the female could do to avoid whimpering from the pain she was experiencing. For several hours there had been agonizing amounts of pressure within her pelvis, contractions violent and inconsistent. At last, Aludra managed to press herself forward. It was a struggle but she fought to stand upon shaking, weak legs. A few small droplets of blood tainted her pure white muzzle; she had not even realized that her teeth were pressed sharply against her tongue. This pain was unlike any she had experienced before, it was completely different. Her mind tried to convince her that this was normal for a pregnant femme about to give birth; however, the paranoid side was scaring the poor medic. It told her of all the ways that things could go wrong, losing the pups was a possibility that she simply could not accept.
She set to pacing back and forth across the sand, staying close to the entrance to the cavern. The sand felt soft beneath her paws and she forced herself to focus on that sensation rather than the one gradually growing worse within her. Her sense of time was becoming weaker, had she been standing for hours or minutes? All the female knew was that soon she would see her children, be able to cuddle with them and begin to learn who they were. The noise that softly parted ways from her body hardly sounded real to her audits. It was a near silent cry of pain, her hindquarters visibly trembled and she almost lost balance entirely. It was time to make her way to the small bed she had prepared for the pups, a safe den for them. Cautiously she began to move herself forward, flares of red blinding her. 'Please let them be okay, oh please. Is it supposed to feel like this? It hurts so bad,' a few tears streamed from her green optics. Surprisingly, she made her way to the safe place fairly quickly. Curling herself up on her side she felt the contractions set in with more regularity. Instincts were taking over, demanding her fragile frame to push and bring these new lives into the world.
Hours passed by and the sun's rays began to kiss the twilight skies. The night had been fairly silent, except for one pained cry as the first pup began to enter it's new life. The Arctic shaman was well, she had survived this beautifully traumatic event. Gently her tongue caressed the top of each pups' head. 'Two sons and two daughters,' the look upon the female's features was one of complete joy and peace. It was hard to resist attempting to name the puppies, but she desired Toiro to see them first. Her love got the first pick of names, she wanted to show him their children. Turning her muzzle upward she attempted a howl; yet, only an exhale of air left her body. Aludra was exhausted and simply could not muster the energy to call for him. Worry etched into her veins, one of an unnecessary kind. Thoughts of Toiro being injured or lost or afraid, any reason why he may never show up to share this moment with her. These were his children and he deserved to be here. Carefully her tail waggled. She thought that she knew what happiness was before! Once more life had taken an unexpected twist - still for the better.
A dim glow began to resonate towards them, casting brighter lights upon the pups. She knew that three were larger than the last, it was obviously a runt; yet, that was what she had been. They were perfect and gave her another reason to live. Airila and all of its members were still incredibly important to the shaman, but she was amazed at the reality that now she had her own family. She was a mother and the Alpha was the father to these puppies, he loved them and cared for them. "Hello my precious babies," she cooed softly to them as they began to awake from a brief nap. All of them were hungry again, their small stomachs craving nourishment. Carefully she nuzzled them all closer to her side, encouraging them to gain nourishment.
OoC| Oops, this is a few days late >< I didn't realize when I created the other Aludra thread that she would be giving birth so soon lol.
