Mental Stability: Questionable: Zaida was born sane, but her unstable mother raised her to think and behave in an insane way. Her mind is definitely twisted, but she is still capable of making thoughtful and/or calculated decisions. She could be made 'sane' again, but only by her mother.
History: Zaida was born to a large Arctic wolf named Yahvi. Her father was some black male, who was quickly killed by Yahvi after Zaida was born. The pup had two siblings; she had a sister, Far, and a brother, Atoyo. Zaida was the youngest of the three and was born the smallest. Because of her small size, her other two siblings ruffed her up more.
Zaida's life was an odd one, but she'd never known any other way, so she didn't think anything of it. As soon as the pups were weaned, they became cannibals, although they didn't at first know it. But since they had never tasted other meat, they never thought anything of it. Their mother always roamed the night, keeping her pups shut up in some cave, or temporary den while she was gone. Yahvi also slept for most of the day, and when she was awake in daylight, she was always off observing a wolf or pack. Because of this, Zaida never saw much of her mother for the first six months of her life. At four months, Zaida was confused and felt abandoned, when one night, her mother was late returning to their den. Zaida waited and waited, but her mother didn't come. So finally, the pup wandered off on her own. She was gone most of the day, but soon her rumbling tummy brought her home. Unfortunately, Yahvi had decided that that day was the day to move the den. Zaida was horrified. She scrambled around, calling out the names of her siblings and her mother. But there was no answer. Finally, Zaida caught the scent trail and followed it to the new den site: a cave again.
By the time Zaida got there, it was nearly midnight. Atoyo and Far were ruff-housing, and Yahvi was gone. Zaida sighed wearily and lay down in a dark corner. There was no food, but there would be some when her mother returned. And Zaida had been right, there was food, but Zaida received none. In fact, her mother went on as if she had never existed. When she entered the cave, she simply commanded, "Atoyo. Far." And then she began to eat her meal. Zaida tried to ignore the sounds and smells, even though her tummy roared grumpily. She knew that her punishment could have been worst, and would get worst if she tried to get around it. It lasted for three days. She was completely ignored as if she didn't exist, and her mother snarled viciously at her if she tried to speak. After that, life returned to normal.
At six months, Yahvi began to teach her pups to fight. At first, they only tussled with each other, but they quickly took on a more serious approach. Yahvi did not put up with slacking or lack of seriousness. She talked to them as they fought, teaching them, forming their young minds to her principles and views. Yahvi believed that any wolf who was weak or deformed, or anything of the sort did not deserve to live. They didn't deserve to breed and pass on their weak genes. So she took upon the responsibility of keeping the wolf species pure. No other wolf seemed to understand except her three pups, to which she instilled the knowledge at such a young age so as to insure that it was the foundational knowledge. Zaida was growing faster than her two siblings, but not fast enough. Her bother, Atoyo, still beat her easily in size, and therefore, more often than not, won the battles. Sometimes, Far would unexpectantly use her small size and speed as an advantage. Zaida was on the short end of the stick, though, and therefore almost always lost. She was clumsy because of her rapid growth, but not big enough yet to master Atoyo. Their mother always praised and showed special affection and attention to a show of strong skill, technique, or anything that showed they would be useful really. Anyone who did not display these things would receive the cold shoulder. Therefore, Zaida grew up without much affection from her mother. Nonetheless, Zaida's mind was more active than ever. She listened to every word her mother spoke, watched every new move or technique or skill that either of her siblings learned, and locked it in her mind. She came up with the best ways to defeat her siblings in her mind and relished the day when she would be able to prove herself.
Zaida often practiced her fighting by herself, although most of the fight occurred in her mind, and only sometimes would she randomly lunge, or wheel around and snap at mid-air. This elicited only more cruel teasing from her siblings, who had always treated her as a more lowly wolf than themselves. But Zaida was not discouraged, and simply ignored them. She grew to ignore her mother's treatment of her, and her jealousy of her mother's affectionate behavior toward her two "proper" siblings slowly wore off. By the time the pups were a year, Atoyo was quite the fighter, and Far quite the trickster. Zaida was daily improving as her growth gradually slowed to a normal rate, but she was still clumsy. She began to practice harder than ever, as she observed her clumsiness slowly wearing off. She practiced to the point of total exhaustion every day, always the last to sleep, and the first to wake up. Yahvi now began to take Atoyo and Far with her at night attacks, but always left Zaida behind. Zaida simply used the alone time to practice more and more.
One day, Yahvi took her three year and a half-year-old pups out to practice their fighting skills. She had a new technique to teach them. She showed them the technique, explained it to them, and then had Atoyo practice it on her. He got it almost perfectly the first time, and received a little praise. Suddenly, Yahvi spoke commandingly. "Zaida. Why don't you come over here, so Atoyo can practice on you?" Zaida immediately obeyed, hiding a smirk but unable to keep the evil glint from her eye as she stepped forward to face her brother. Yahvi walked a few paces away to practice with Far. Zaida had payed close attention, and already figured out a way to counteract the maneuver. As Atoyo lunged at her, Zaida remained perfectly still. He feigned going at her right side, and Zaida feigned turning that way. Just as she responded, Atoyo whipped around the her other side, his jaws open to snag a bit of Zaida's snowy pelt. But Zaida had anticipated this and before he had even moved, she had whipped around to face his left shoulder. She jumped on his back, and grabbed his neck between her jaws, forcing him to the ground. He had been utterly surprised, and had therefore fallen to the ground, with a yelp of shock. Now, he tried to recover, but Zaida closed her jaws around his neck slightly and let out a warning growl. This was her victory, and she was going to keep it. Yahvi's voice suddenly rang out: "Well done, Zaida! That was quite impressive. I have never taught you that, any of you."
Zaida's heart swelled with pride and joy at hearing her mother's words. She released her brother and jumped several paces away, taunting him with lithe jumps in different directions. As soon as Atoyo was on his feet, he lunged at her, and a long battle ensued. Atoyo tried technique after technique, skill after skill. He tried everything. But Zaida knew his fighting style and skills too well, and he knew nothing of hers. The long hours of practice, patience and observation paid off in this one long, drawn-out fight. Atoyo and Zaida were almost even in size now, although Zaida was much shorter than her brother still. This, combined with the knowledge of each other's fighting skills mentioned above, gave Zaida the upper hand. She beat Atoyo again and again. After each time, he only became more and more enraged, which only amused Zaida greatly, and made her more and more calm and collected. As a result, the fights at first grew in intensity and then slowly declined until Zaida began to beat Atoyo very easily because of simple mistakes, or slow reactions. That day and the next, Zaida received all the affection and attention that she had missed since the day she had ran away, while Atoyo received the worst dose of Yahvi's cold shoulder. That night, Yahvi took Zaida on her first night raid.
After that, Zaida quickly surpassed her brother in weight, and because of her shortness and her length, she filled out very nicely. Atoyo began to practice in private though, and so they became well-matched competitors; sometimes Atoyo would beat Zaida, and sometimes Zaida would beat Atoyo.
Zaida's weight, when she finished gaining it, was spread so evenly throughout her body that even though she was bulky and huge, she retained a feminine look. Despite her mind that had slowly been twisted by her mother's views and the family's diet, her body was very beautiful. It was entirely snowy white, and baby soft. She had two black ears, and a black tail, but they were a very sleek-looking black. She inherited the grey stripe on her nose from her mother, but her green eyes had come from no where. Neither of her parents had borne them, and no one knew how she came to have them. But all in all, she was a sight to see; she looked like an angel, and maybe she could have been one had she been raised differently. But she wasn't. At the age of two, their mother decided that her son and two daughters were good enough to be fully immersed, and so they all traveled together, and were in constant training. Only now they hardly ever had fight training. Now, their training consisted of several methods of quick, quiet assassinations, and how to tell the weak wolves from the pure. Zaida was a deadly assassin at the age of two, killing quickly and quietly, without leaving any evidence of who had done it, besides her scent. No paw prints, no fur.
Personality: Zaida has a very complex, and yet simple, personality. It is complex because of all the different levels and sides to it. Yet it is very simple, because it all ties to one thing; one thing is at the root of all the branches of her personality that have stemmed out.
First of all, Zaida is a brick. She is cold and heartless; she is ruthless. She is quick with her assassinations, but only because she has to be so as to not be caught. If she is ever killing what the average wolf considers prey, she always drags out the hunt. She enjoys seeing pain and suffering, but not to an insane measure. She is emotionless and callous. She is hard-hearted, and calculating.
Zaida retains her mind, despite its being slightly twisted. Because of this, she is a master manipulator. She can put any mask on her face, and it will always be complete because her green eyes remain free from insanity, and her absolute beauty can win over any wolf, especially males. Her voice is also quite beautiful. It is like bell tones; it is soft and gentle, but rings out with sweet beauty and clarity. This also helps her with whatever mask she decides to wear. She is also quite intelligent, and because she retains her sanity, she is quite quick in her assessment of body language, tone, etc. In this way, she can always keep her mask in perfect place, making any small adjustments that will make the other wolf react the way she wants.
Zaida is a very calm and collected wolfess. She is never taken over by rage or grief or any other strong emotion, and can therefore remain in her quick, calculating mind. This brings about constant attention, without zoning out into her thoughts, or being distracted by some noise. She is quite good at multi-tasking, and can therefore listen to someone speak, as well as watch and listen for intruders, and read someone's body language or analyze someone's skills as they preform them all at the same time. Granted, she does always pay slightly more attention to one thing, while the others are more in the background. This helps her to almost never be surprised.
Zaida is also a very skilled fighter, which makes her a skilled hunter as well, since she usually eats wolf meat. She is not quite as skilled as a hunter of prey, as she doesn't often do it, but since she can focus so well and be very quiet and quick, she is decent enough. Zaida is mostly such a skilled fighter because of her ability to remain calm and collected during a fight, as well as her ability to analyze her opponent's style, which allows her to interpret his techniques and moves with pretty good accuracy.
There is another side to Zaida that no one has seen since she lost all emotion: jealousy, anger, love, hate. She deeply loves her family. She is loyal to them to death, unless one of them attacked her with the intention of killing her. In that case, her cold, hard-hearted, ruthless, emotionless mind would rule and she would fight to kill them. Besides this, however, Zaida is loyal to them. She feels the closest to Far, mainly because she is a female, and never picked on Zaida as much as Atoyo. But Zaida remains loyal to her mother more than to her siblings. If her mother asked her to turn on one or both of her siblings, she would obey without question or hesitation, even if ordered to kill them.
Zaida may be loyal to her family, but she trusts none of them. She stopped trusting them a long time ago, and will never trust them again. She is completely obedient to her mother, and trusts her judgment on which wolf is pure and which is tainted. But she doesn't trust her mother. She is always on guard, lest any of her family attack her. She always sleeps a distance from them, and stays away from them if she is ever vulnerable. If any of them come to close at the wrong time, she will warn them with a growl, and demand to know what they want before they come too close. She is always ready to attack.
