Cain listlessly moved one paw in front of the other. The motion was hollow and held no real meaning to him as he walked. It had been months since the fight with his brother and yet he felt like he had just ran away. He tread through the woods his mind lost to his memories his massive white paws crack twigs and shuffling leaves. Had he been in half his right mind he would have been disgusted with himself. Here he was in a new land unsure of the residents of this new place and he was crashing through the lands with no thought. Yet those thoughts were overshadowed by the incessant taste of his brothers blood on the back of his tongue. The false sensation of his blood running down his muzzle and onto the snow.
Without thought Cain had begun to follow the mountain range and move what be believed to be north west along the low hills. As he walked his thoughts spun circles. He hadn't slept in days and he idly wondered if that was making his mind worse. He could hear his brother's accusations and screams even as he walked through the silence of the woods. The hate in his brothers dark eyes looked at him from inside his mind. They seemed to blot out all else even as his paws carried him forward in a haze. The pains and aches of the swimming and almost drowning even faded against those eyes. Part of his mind screamed that he needed food and rest. The voice pleaded to stop and find some rest at least. The voice lost.
AS he continued to trudge through the lands his eyes were glazed as they stared forward. The large white male moving as if in a trance. He fled his memories and sought... something. He wasn't sure. Maybe he sought forgiveness. With a startled motion he snorted. His mind that had been silenced by the depression came screaming to the forefront of his mind. HE stumbled and suddenly dropped to his haunches panting heavily. The hunger and the exhaustion screamed their anger and demands from inside. The large white wolf shook his head to clear it as he began to finally look around. The sight caused his breath to stop and even the voices in his head became quiet.
He was staring at a massive cave entrance. Massive wasn't even a correct term for it but his mind couldn't grasp another word to describe it. His natural curiosity took hold when a smell hit him from the cave. Beyond the dampness and normal scents of the earth was, "There is no way. A pack who lives underground?" The voices finally were quiet and he was too interested to care anyways. He was lost alone and now was staring at something he could barely believe. With nothing left to lose he lifted his muzzle to the sky and let loose a massive baritone howl of greeting and in it a request to meet. AS his howl slid into silence he waited for the answer.
