History:
Harlot was born to two healthy parents on an island neighboring Anikira, along with four other pups – two other females and two males. Her parents had been a good match, compatible with a generous amount of affection between them, and their litter of pups was their proudest accomplishment. As soon as the pups were old enough to comprehend lessons, their father began to teach the boys of hunting and fighting while the girls lay nestled alongside their mother, learning of gathering and basic healing, although never enough for Harlot to take an interest in the gentle art. They were not exempt from hunting, either, and while Harlot enjoyed it well enough, she did not take an interest in sparring. The males, ever the somber pups, took their father’s lessons very seriously. Harlot much preferred the company of her sisters, although there was no love lost between her and her brothers.
As the pups grew, so too did their personalities. Harlot's brothers were dedicated and serious, growing into admirable males who spent the majority of their time with their father. Harlot's youngest sister was a gentle soul quite similar to their mother, who wished very dearly to learn the arts of healing, and her elder sister was proving to be exactly like Harlot, who each day grew to be opinionated and increasingly candid. The two grew closer even than before as they approached a year of age, and their mother highly approved of their strengthening relationship. For the entirety of another year Harlot remained with her family, even long after each of her brothers had left to find greatness.
One morning not long after Harlot turned two, her father approached her and explained to her firmly but not unkindly that he wished for her to branch away from their small family. Her parents had always been nothing but supportive of her, and although Harlot was not being forced from their sides, she knew that she could not disappoint them. Despite how she tried to convince her sister to leave the island with her, she refused, seeming eager to explore a life of her own as well but not yet wishing to make the long swim to the island in the distance that their parents had informed then was called Anikira. While it was difficult for Harlot to separate herself from her sister, more so than the rest of her family, she did so two days later, traveling to the coast and plunging into the depths of the ocean. She was determined to find something new, something great, even if she had to be alone while she did so.
Some time later her paws touched sand, and the exhausted mix dragged herself onto the shores of Anikira, soaked and weary but fiercely proud of what she’d already accomplished. For several days she stayed near to the coast, hunting and trying to familiarize herself with her new home through rumors as much as she could, until finally Harlot set off to explore the vast, strange land.
Personality:
Harlot is unapologetically herself – and more often than not, that self is not what one would call pleasant. Despite the lovely plethora of colors that sprawl across her form and the vivid sapphire orbs that peer out from a face nearly as delicate and feminine as the rest of her, Harlot is hard on the inside, slow to trust and swift to offer up honesty, no matter how cutting her opinions may be. She is not one to hold her tongue under any circumstances regardless of consequences, and has no shame in doing what needs to be done, regardless of whose feelings she hurts in the process. True to her name she is coy and flirtatious when one manages to look past her brazen personality, although she is far from an air-headed coquette; she is extremely intelligent, her wit sharp and swift – and usually cutting. Despite this, Harlot is not deliberately cruel, never hurting someone for the sheer sake of it. Although it is difficult to earn her loyalty, once it is achieved, Harlot proves to be an ally for life with a heart of gold beneath her fiery exterior. While her personality is certainly large, her bark is much worse that her bite; she knows that she is no warrior, and instead prefers to use her smarts as well as her looks – which she is admittedly proud of, although she does not brag – to gain what she needs to survive and thrive.
